While the cattle are important, people who shape this industry are responsible for the success. 2022 proved the need for fellowship and the relationships that are derived from functions like this make this business a whole lot better. We will always face various challenges in the industry but as always we adapt and thrive and there will always be a large demand for the Angus cow, she is the queen of the pastures!
Join us Friday at 12 for the SAA AGM and then for an afternoon of viewing the sale offering in a great setting with hospitality plus! Whether you’re looking for a 4H heifer, a bred heifer carrying service to breed leading genetics or the frozen offering is encompassing to adding a genetic piece that offers long term results. See you sale day!
On behalf of the Saskatchewan Angus Association I’d like to welcome you to the latest version of the long standing Masterpiece Angus Sale. As a young breeder I was always impressed by this inclusive sale that I could get in to and get a start to showcase some genetics. Years later the same focus of great cattle and Sask membership inclusiveness is still evident.
This year you are all invited to attend our association AGM in Moosejaw at 12pm at Gold Bar Livestock, It is a chance to see what’s going on in the SAA while being active in your Angus communtiy. Please attend if you are able.
Thank you to our gracious host Sarah Hasson and our Castlerock Marketing for putting on this new look version which was a large success last year and appears to be again this year as well. Last but not least thank you to the consignors for showcasing some of Western Canada’s greatest Angus cattle that representing the various regions in which we see Angus cattle thrive. Its a great facility and a bunch of great people involved. See you there!!!!
Randy TetzlaffMeera 17’23 is one of our very best 2023 born heifer calves out of a very good first calving female. We chose to use HF Roper 27F after really noticing the good cattle he was siring around the country,in both his male and female progeny! His sons and daughters are excelling with low birth yet exceptional growth, excellent docility and excellent foot quality. HF Roper 27F maybe one of the most underrated bulls used in Canada at the moment in our minds. This females great grand dam has been stellar here since purchasing her from the Ward’s as a heifer calf she is headed to Donor status in the very near future. On paper this Masterpiece entry has numerous very good proven cows in her pedigree on both top and bottom of her pedigree! But best of all she is looks the part as well.
14L
This Karama 14L is a fancy, fancy daughter of Deer Valley Growth fund! She has a super fresh pedigree being produced from a hard working, sound, Ellingson Roughrider daughter that came to us from the great people of Nesset Lake Angus. Breed leading EPD’s coupled with the style and class to burn, makes this sweetheart of a calf one to look over on sale day. Put a halter on her and see what she can do for you!
As each day goes by it’s getting harder and harder to sell Abound Lass 316L. She has a lot of style, good footed, and smooth made through her front yet she is bold and thick right where we need them to be. We purchased her dam from J Square S a few years back and this is a cow that is just starting to hit her stride as a momma. She is a very feminine female with a nice udder and strong maternal values. This heifer’s AI sire, Ellingson Profound, has a lot to offer when it comes to volume, depth and overall muscle pattern. However, this bull being ranked one of the best in foot quality and structure right now in the Angus breed was a key feature for us. Starting from the bottom up, Abound Lass 316L is showcasing all the pieces needed to write success! ABOUND
Donna 03L is the first female we have ever let leave the place, and what a heifer to do so. She’s extremely tanky, yet feminine fronted, long made, and easy fleshing. Her sire is the now deceased calving ease bull “KG Justified 3023,” and her dam, 5H, a double bred Coleman Donna, and a daughter of Coleman Marshall 7170 that came inside of our first purchase from the legendary Coleman Angus program in Montana. Study 03L’s pedigree and you’ll find maternal giants such as OCC Juneau 807J, SAV Resource 1441, Cole Creek Black Cedar 46P, and the immortal Donna 714.
Longview Lady 62L, is a heifer calf we are really excited to have on offer. Her dam, Brooking Lady 7166, is a hard cow to pick a hole in, out of the Soo Line Lady 8058 cow. This heifer calf packs a punch just like her dam and grand dam, and backed by the great Young Dale Defiance bull, we believe this one will be a great addition to anyone’s herd. Defiance is not only noted for making stylish females like this little “Lady” but the strong foot he puts on his progeny is more then desirable!
LONGVIEW LADY 62L
YCF DANA 2327L
Here is a very complete, moderate framed, classy female from Yarrow Creek. Colossal 806G, our proven herd sire for maintaining his TOP 3% (+14EPD) on calving ease, stamps his females out soggy made, strong topped, showing that nice muscle shape all the way around with great feet and that attractive smooth shouldered Angus front. A replica of her KFC 1338Y granddam pictured who consistently calved WW ratio of 104, 87# male and 82# female calves. (Dana 27L is an 82# BW). We picked 806G because of his VERY popular Musgrave 316 Colossal 137 Grandsire and his 2 generations of the Fabulous Peak Dot CEDAR donor dams, with exceptional udders and performance. Check it out. YCF Dana 27L shows her complimentary femininity and STYLE in a complete overall package with LOADS of potential, enjoy!!
Annie is a female that comes to the top in our heifer pasture in several regards. One of which being the exceptional cow family 2L comes from. Her Authoritive dam is an absolute dime. Her Grand dam 82C has produced several very good daughters, including a full brother to 9J, Annie’s dam, who will be a part of our group of 3 bulls at CWA this year. Annie 2L is also sired by the $80,000 HF Showtime.
With this being our first consignment to the Masterpiece sale in an awfully long time we wanted to make it a good one. Countess 59L checks all the boxes. She is a strong-topped, longspined heifer with natural thickness and great foot and leg structure. She is sired by our walking herd sire Northern View Stellar 107H who is an Attractive son that passes growth, hair, and docility onto his offspring. The Lucky Countess cow family is a foundation line for us that have great feet and udders. This sweet mid-March heifer has the style and temperament to make her a junior project as well as a great cow.
ANGUS RIDGE COUNTESS 59L
This heifer has been a standout all summer long. Being just a March born heifer she has taken off out of the gate and hasn’t looked back. She is the type of heifer you see every time you step into her pasture. She’s got a nice clean front, ample muscle shape and a presence to her that’s hard to miss. Her dam was a bred heifer purchase from Merit. Her sire was our pick of the bulls at Brooking. Unfortunately, we lost him to injury in his first breeding season, he was used heavily in our ai program again this spring. This female will be a competitive heifer for a junior to show and then go out and make you an awesome cow.
No guesswork here! This heifer has all the makings of a cornerstone breeding piece. She came to us in dam from the Daines Angus dispersal where her mom was our clear top pick based on her awesome udder, strong foot, flawless production record and classic Angus look. 28L’s pedigree is absolutely littered with some of the most recognizable and highly regarded names in the breed including Coalition, Density, Tiger, Prime Cut and Final answer. In the flesh 28L is just as impressive. She turned a lot of heads this summer on the Angus tour with her big middle and broody look on a very usable frame.
Barbara is our only angus AI calf we had this year and we have dug deep and offered her for sale. Her sire is the popular Attractive bull and her epd’s put her in the top 7 and 8% for weaning and yearling weights. She is a real tank with excellent hair. She was my pick for Lane’s 4H heifer but he will have to find another. This female has a ton of good in her, deep thick and well balanced. Dam is an up and coming female, her sister sired our high selling bull this spring. The granddam was a no miss cow who worked here without fail. Hard to let this one go but her mom is young and has many years to produce another for us. If you were on the Angus tour this summer you would of seen her and her mother. Pretty honest heifer that was pictured in the pasture, she’ll shine up real nice on sale day!
CONSIGNED BY BLACK RIDGE
BLACK RIDGE BARBARA 49L 11
This March heifer is a really pretty female, sweet and feminine in her makeup and was a top pick of Shane’s when he was here. 19L stems from the 27 cow family and we have a lot of them working here. 19L has two sisters working in our herd. The granddam 27C, we have retained all her daughters and her bull calf last year was a top bull in the pen and she has another top heifer this year. 19L is sired by our Bravo son from Lewis Farms, where he was the lead off and high selling Angus bull in their bull sale. Our female consignments last year in the Masterpiece were also his daughters. His calves are excellent, very consistent and his bulls lead our bull pen and the females very solid. This pair was also on display this year on the Angus tour. Sire Verified.
A Coleman Triumph daughter that is hard to let go; but we are fully committed to selling from the top end and letting the good ones prove themselves for their new owners. 331L herself is very correct in her make up. She has a great length of hip, level topped wrapping it up with a very feminine front end. 331Ls mother was our pick of the Black Creek Dispersal a couple years ago and 853F is quickly becoming a top end cow here at Ramrod Livestock. This little heifer will make a great junior project next year!
A few things you’ll notice about this fancy female are she’s long bodied, very elegant through her front end with a proud manner. 311L is sited by our senior herd sire Gran Torino whom has been siding calves that many admire for their length, muscle shape, foot structure and do-ability. Gran Torino is backed by one of our very best and predictable females so the guess work is already done for you with this young lady!
Feminine stylish maternal looking Growth Fund daughter. Her dam is a deep bodied second calver with a pitcture perfrct udder. Her last years bull calf sold for $10,500.00. We predict this eye appealing heifer will mature into a very productive addition to your herd.
STORNAWAY ERICA 190L 15
RED
Ms Mat is the first progeny to sell of our herdsire Red Goad Mission 148J. This dark red stylish heifer is everything we hoped for in the mating. Missions dam is a great broody cow at Goads at the top end of their herd and this bull has sired an entire pen of this kind. When we went to Mike Howes to pick out some heifers the Flying K Boss females came to the top easily for what we were looking for and the dam of this girl is proof we weren’t wrong.
RED KENRAY MISS 6L 17
Lot 17 Lot 18
This is a heifer that we are extremely proud to offer as we return to the prestigious Masterpiece Sale. She showcases a unique outcross pedigree packed full of fresh genetics for the red angus herdbook. She is elongated, elevated and elegant in her design. Move her forward as a show heifer or take her home and build upon the maternal greatness of her dam. The 601D cow has been a flagship matron for Fraser Farms; producing a $14,000 bred heifer through the Touch of Class and a $18,000 son to Minburn, Eye Hill and Andy Meintz. These progeny are proving their worth by raising high sellers themselves. Miss 601D has been a prolific embryo donor with up and coming ET daughters at Howe Red Angus, Kenray and Ravenbrook. The sire of this wedge shaped beauty is a full ET brother to the $40,000 record selling bred heifer at Red Round Up. Red Boss has the ability to add style and presence to his progeny. His first daughter sold last fall to Dorrance’s for $15,000 through the Red Round Up sale. She had placed a very respectable 4th place in the junior heifer show at that same event. The daughters retained as replacement females will be mouth watering next spring after they calve. Here is an opportunity to acquire some of the hottest and freshest Red Angus genetics wrapped up in a fancy made package. We are excited for you to see this peach in the flesh.
RED FRASER CHETA 346L 18
Red Fraser Cheta 346L is one of those heifers that I may be in trouble for a while for offering her here. Shane had his pick of the females and he spied her out easily. She was Jack’s heifer calf that he showed this year through the Tilston 4-H club. Both Dez and I picked her out for him early as he had some heifers of his own, but the Cheta family was extra special... and quiet... She’s halter broke and kid safe, She loves the attention, Long bodied with a sharp feminine front end out of a proven cow. She had a brother we used in our herd and 2 sisters have been retained for cows. Also, another sister was a standout that sold at the Touch of Class sale to JAS Red Angus. Another Resource 23F daughter that will make a very good cow in the future.
Over the last few years we’ve committed ourselves to an extensive ET program to push forward with the genetics that have the track records coupled with the foot and udder quality we are aiming hard at. Three cows have sorted themselves out as worthy of extensive flushing and they are, GSR 25C, APBU 139Z and OLEF 146Y. From that we have used sires that have proven to have excellent foot quality to go with their strong maternal traits. These bulls are Red LWNRG Slowburn 102H, Rreds Common Sense G933 and our own Red Golden Sunset CKN 16F (Cracken)who was our High Seller to Triple SSS Red Angus. The Cracken females at Sibbalds are impressive and easy to find which speaks volumes coming from that herd. Slowburn has made a name for himself with his sons being highly sought after this year, with many being the top selling bulls, females might be more impressive yet. Common Sense comes highly touted as a Seneca son from a knockout Code Red dam that resides at Rhodes Red Angus in South Dakota and this being his first set of calves are flat impressive. In our quest for consistency the common denominator is foot quality, maternal ability and predictability, nothing fancy just the basics.
These 20 ET calves are sure to impress and when Shane was out to select we come to the conclusion to let the new buyer take his pick. The ET brothers to these heifers are equally impressive further verifying the consistency desired.
We will winter the calves and continue to develop them under our management allowing the buyer until March 1st 2024 to make their selection. Payment terms are half down sale day with the remaining half to be paid once the selection is made!
All Calves are out of our donors: GSR 25C, APBU 139Z and OLEF 146Y Sire groups include: Red LWNRG Slowburn 102H, Rreds Common Sense G933 and Red Golden Sunset CKN 16F
From one of the first cows we purchased from Glenrose, 139Z has a pedigree stacked with females with great udders and feet which we are doubling down on! In 2022 we had 7 flushmates born by our own Red Box 55H that is leaving a tremendous set of progeny. In 2023 we’ve had 12 flush calves by 139Z and Slowburn, Cracken and Common Sense and they look fantastic. In our quest to up the game on the foot quality we promoted from within on a cow that has stood the test of time, 139Z is delivering what we are looking for. 16K was one of 3 full siblings Shane had to pick from and we couldn’t be more excited to bring her to the Masterpiece, definite brood cow in the making! Quick note on the service sire, he’s a Black/Red carrier out of Sitz Stellar that carries an outcross pedigree and as expected, excellent feet.
Exposed April 1st to June 1st to Highline Stellar 99K. Preg checked to calve early – mid February.
RED DERSTA OLIVIA 213K 21
Olivia 213K screams power, herd bull producer, and she showcases another cow family Dersta holds near & dear. She has brood cow written all over her, wide hooks and pin, wide top, big ribbed, and the udder she’s dropping is one for the books. Her Granddam 23X was originally purchased from Red Roundup and we have many females retained but lost her much too early. Her legacy will live on through her dam 621D, a hard working solid cow, and the other 6 females retained.
Ultrasounded July 17 for Early January calf. AI March 29 - Red LSF SRR Hedge Fund 7017E. Pasture Exposed April 11 - May 26 - CWJ 45K Red Cockburn Shane 2045.
Red Fraser Madonna 219K is a great example of the females we strive to build our herd with. She comes from our popular Madonna family with her dam raising a son that we retained for our own use and a female retained. Shes a large correct daughter of our old Answer 10X bull that we had for many years. The grand dam in 903W calved what will be her last calf here this year... but she’s still here! Tremendous udder strength and foot quality follow this cow family. The Resource 23F bull that we owned with Brylor left us a tremendous set of females even though there seems to be more black than red at times... They are good regardless. The cool part of the puzzle is yet to come with the confirmed pregnancy to Red Fraser Regal 909G. He was our high selling bull to a group of breeders. His offspring have been in high demand wherever they have been offered. We will look after the cost of a DNA test to confirm parentage.
Bred AI to Red Fraser Regal 909G on April 19(Vet checked Safe). Exposed to Red Brylor OTM Copenhagen 9K April 28 to May 29. Exposed to Fraser Mulberry 269K May 30 to July 15.
Cora 2009 is a front pasture type of female. We are proud to offer her in this years Masterpiece Sale. The Cora cow family needs no introduction in the Red Angus buisness, 2009 is sure to carry on the legacy. Her sire Copper G929 is proving his worth in both his daughters and sons.
Cora’s service to Elavate 2065, an exciting Slowburn son from our cherished Hauk cow family only adds to the value. Elevate was a $20,750 high seller in our bull sale this past spring to Lauron Red Angus.
AI Ap 28 to Red Cockburn Elevate 206. Exposed May 1 - June 30 to Red Wilbar Glenfiddich 92K . Preg checked favourable to AI service.
RED COCKBURN CORA 2009
First off we would like to thank Mark Forsyth for coming to look at our females and for inviting us to the Masterpiece sale. This Red female he has selected has a bright future in the angus industry. She a moderate framed female, with a smooth front end, that stands on a nice strong feet. 64K is out of our maxi cow family and sired by bull that we called Gunner. Gunner is a Northline Chuck Norris son from a Reba cow family we picked up in Les Saunders dispersal sale. 64K has a full sister in our herd that has had her first calf, we are extremely happy with her udder and the condition she can maintain. 64K was AI’d on May 1st to Rreds Blueprint, we have been keeping an eye on this bull for a while. He’s a bull that has lots of depth and growth but yet has the calving ease we were looking for can’t wait to see these calves hit the ground.

If you know us you know we don’t do footnotes in our own sales so this year with our consignments to Masterpiece let me say our offering will be unique to a lot of the angus breeders. We have brought you this bred heifer that we had hoped to keep for ourselves as we have sold her mother to Emmet Creek last October in our herd reduction sale. When the smoke cleared from that sale we still had more animals at home than we realized so we decided to allow Shane and Mark go into our herd and pick what they wanted to. Shane picked Pteet 287K because of her moderate size and beautiful phenotype. She is a sweetheart and we brought her in from the pasture the day before we did pictures and she took it all in stride. She is quiet and so, so sweet. We work very hard on phenotype with a solid foundation and we know this lady will be just what you are looking for and we are proud to have bred and raised her. She is in calf to Red Goad Pilsner 183J, and if you came on this year’s summer tour you would have seen PIlsner with his leading ladies on display. The service to this fellow will be a 100% sure shot when the calf hits the ground. We have his first crop and they are outstanding.
Due end of January/ early February
Shane allowed us to pick the second bred to bring to Masterpiece and this lady will be very unique to a lot of the breeders out there. Her mother now resides in Manitoba at Sulo Cattle company and they are thrilled with her and this year’s offspring. We weren’t going to part with this leading lady but we just have way too many great ones so we wanted to offer one of those great ones to someone else. From the cows we sold last fall this girl should be a sure fire winner for her new owner. She will be on the larger size but she stands on an outstanding foundation that just gets better as you go up the girl with your eyes. The cool thing about this leading lady is her mother is that infamous purple which comes from J Sqare S Jag 309A who is a HF Tiger 5T son. You won’t go wrong with this lady who also carries service to Red Goad Pilsner 183J.
Due Mid February
Rosetta is a moderate female that goes back to our main cow family at McGowan Farms. 31K is sired by Excalibur who has stamped his calves very well with lots of extra length and natural muscling. Rosetta may be lighter red but don’t let that bother you as she is sound footed and has longevity bred into her. She is going to make a great female addition for ones herd. She has been ultrasounded safe to Red Rainbow Zodiac for a heifer calf.
Exposed to Red Rainbow Zodiac 29J – April 23/23 – May 10/23. Due early February.
RED MCGOWAN ROSETTA 31K
Kayden decided to get into the cattle business with the purchase of this girls momma (Red Howe Ms Moose Crk 82H) at Red Roundup a few years back. Affectionately know around our place as “Cookie”, she did an awesome job with 12K as her first calf. Then she decided to cycle right on time to be AI’d early and has a beautiful Mulberry bull calf at her side this year. 12K is a Final Deal 78Z daughter that checks a lot of boxes, cherry red with great, black feet and a lot of capacity. She has a great phenotype and a very feminine look to her as well. Hard to fault this girl. We had one straw of John Wick himself left, so we picked 12K out of the group of replacements to put it into. Kayden had a lot of fun showing Shane this girl and he’s super excited to see what she can do for her new owner.

Pretty fancy daughter here from the Hooch bull purchased as a top selling bull from Frasers. Real pleased with job he’s done here on his calves. These breds were wintered as calves on pretty much garbage feed with a sprinkling of early cut Reed Canary grass hay to give them a treat and spoil them with now and then. They’ve hit grass and blossomed just like they should and bred up real good. Dam, 74C has given us 4 daughters we have retained and her first bull calf come this year and carries some promise to him. Service sire is a Patriot 16 son out of an old black red carrier cow from Geis Angus and she was a good bitch, True Patriot 20J will be an outcross pedigree with a lot of good cows behind him.
Exposed April 15th to June 15th to Red Lines True Patriot 20J. Observed April 17th, vet checked to service.
RED
Loaded pedigree here on this Steadfast heifer with the 3A cow up close from Kenray, Ruby 10T from Mar Mac amongst the Zama Pine son we raised out of the old Goldy cow. The Roxie cow family came to us via Kenray back in 2000 from the Angus Pride sale as a bred heifer and she has left a trail of goodness since then. Good, tough cows that stand up and just plain work. Real excited about the service to the new Coward bull we purchased this spring, he’s a Mama tried out of the good JJL cow that we think a lot of.
Exposed April 15th to June 15th to Red Wood Coulee Bud 51K. Observed April 21st, vet checked to service.
“Alice, Alice, Who the F... is Alice?” Alice 208K is a very intriguing individual! She combines a sleek front end with a big, deep body from front to back. She has a very curious and gentle personality. Depth of heel and foot shape are an asset. Teat size and spacing also look very promising. This Bloodline female is definitely worth your evaluation at this year’s Masterpiece Sale. Parent Verified.

Beauty 13K is a full sibling to the 2nd high selling bull in our 2022 bull sale to Cudmore Farms and maternal sister to Sure Fire, who was the 2nd High selling bull in our 2020 sale to Border Butte Angus. He was also part of our Agribition Champion pen of bulls that year. Her dam 16B has been an exceptional producer for us. We also can’t say enough good about her sire, MLG Authoritive. Authoritive’s progeny have been extremely well received thus far. Authoritive’s progeny have shown they have what it takes when it comes to fleshing ability, structural soundness, and just overall eye appeal. They also have exceptionally good, nearly impossible to fault udders.
COULEE CROSSING SONGBIRD 9K 33
By the Coleman Bravo bull who is known for his moderate framed feminine daughters, Songbird 9K is a great example. Moderate, feminine, deep bodied, sound made, quiet temperament, and comes from a proven cow family. 9K is the 5th female from this cow family and the 3rd daughter of the 68A cow to be selected for a purebred sale. Johnson Livestock, Morhart Farms, Hanson Angus, Schick Family Farms all have females. New Design 878 and Iron Man 0169 are both female makers as well, Songbird 9K is going to make a fabulous mother cow.

Parkwood Farms hasn’t typically sold females in the past and while we haven’t been out and about selling Angus females we have been in the registered business since 1927 and market our bulls at the Blue Collar Bull Sale in Yorkton. Shane has prodded us for a number of years to market a female or two he finally wore us down this year. We are bringing a Stellar daughter which we had on display at the Sask Angus Summer Tour and this broody heifer caught some eyes and we think you’ll like her too!

Powerful, easy doing heifer out of Cowboy Up and our old 140T cow (who had 14 calves for us) from the Heather Dale cow family which would be one of our most prolific families. We can say with great confidence that if 90K turns out like her dam you will be very pleased with this purchase and it gives us great comfort to sell a bred heifer out of a cow that raised calves until she was 15 years old! If we are coming to town we are bringing a good one with us and this girl found some friends on the Sask Angus Tour with her base and smooth look to her. Check out her service to the Semex sire that is a Casino Bomber son that reads 0.9 94 170 and has a large scrotal EPD as well, reports have his calves at Peak Dot looking fantastic!

Our bred heifer consignment to this years Masterpiece sale, is one that is mighty hard for us to sell, but we pride ourselves on offering right from the top of our replacement pen. The Moonmist cow family came to us a few years back at the Bar D K dispersal. We picked up a few cows that day, wishing now we had bought more. The granddam of this bred was designated an elite cow. The dam, 97E, is one of the prettiest cows on the farm. Beautiful uddered, great feet with a sharp front end. A cow that always gets noticed. Moonmist 99K is a product of our rising herdsire, Valley Blossom Blaster. His daughters are peas in the pod. They look like the real deal and have us super excited for them. She’s bred to the exciting sire Coleman Triumph and I think this will be a winning combination.
AI’d May 5 Colman Triumph (Preg checked favourable to AI service). May 18-Aug 12 W Sunrise Duece 724K.
Rainfall granddaughter with great capacity and depth of rib. Power and performance heifer, that has nice lines and structure about her. She comes from a line of very fertile cattle. We have high expectations for this gentle growthy heifer, take advantage of this great, early service.

M’Brook Lass 21K has a beautiful head with big fluffy ears, a perfect foot and is very docile which is typical of the Alcatraz daughters. Her dam and granddam are big middled, tanky females with great udders. A maternal brother to her dam was a $14,000 sale feature a few years ago in our bull sale. The vets opinion of her being due the end of February would make her bred to the $80,000 HF Reverence 23K who we are extremely excited about, a calving ease bull with extra growth and power with very good feet. Sire of Lot 47 Embryos
Lot 47
A definite “Masterpiece” lot with plenty of connections through this very sale over the years. This highly prolific daughter of Duration, a past Masterpiece graduate going to Johnson Livestock and Eastondale Angus as a calf in 2006. The Duration daughters have been treasured by those that have used him as the longevity and productivity of his daughters have paved the way for future generations. Duration’s dam, Beletta 0219 made her fair share of noise back in the day bringing $40,000 for ½ interest in 2005. Now for the cow family side, note VDAR Lucy 834 as the dam of Masterpiece embryo lot in 2003 in which Eastondale Angus purchased thus leaving a strong mark in their herd. Now for the sire side of the mating, Sitz Barricade semen has sold for $600 in the recent past and his genetics very much in demand through his calving ease and ultra maternal ability!

Most importantly her production record speaks for itself with multiple daughters in the herd as well as her last two bull calves going to very respected breeders in the Mama’s Boy 23J bull to McAleer Ranching and Seneca 18K to Kenray Ranch. At the 2022 Touch of Class sale a flush was sold to Platinum Genetics; a group of astute breeders that mission is to source the best Angus genetics. The one black cow is producing for us here at home. Her first red bull calf Red Double C Handsome 18H resides at Lonestone Farms in Alberta and he was the Reserve Champion Red Angus Bull at the Agribition virtual show when he was a calf. KURUBA 140E
A couple of firsts here breeders! The very first consignment from the group of Red Angus breeders six Canadians, one Australian and three American which was formed at the 50th RRUP, calling themselves the IFFG. Also this is the first set of eggs ever let go on Kuruba 140E. And…..also very worthy of mentioning the very first genetics to sell by the phenomenal Rage bull. Kuruba 140E was the 2nd high selling cow at the awesome WRAZ dispersal last December. She brought $15,500 only to be bested by her daughter 97G at $16,000. 97G’s heifer calf was the high selling heifer calf at $16,250. Rage was the $70,000 USD high seller at Shaggy Meadows bull sale in SD. He was featured at RRUP 50 and his only 100 straws released up here commanded $700 straw for a $70,000 valuation. It was the second high selling lot in Olds at the 50th RRUP. This package of embryos could be the “masterpiece” you’ve been searching for.

Slowburn set the bar pretty high this spring through bull sale season with his sons commanding an incredible amount of interest with the excellent feet, deep color, soundness and overall eye appeal. Through the first set of calves marketed at Howe Red Angus, Eye Hill Stock Farm, Cockburn, Rainbow, Selte and here in our herd the bulls were instantly found. With 183 recorded progeny in his second calf crop Slowburn has not disappointed in the consistency of his calves and bred pretty much according to what we had all hoped for. In breeding cattle minimizing the throw aways is of chief concern in efforts for those genetics to breed on for our commercial customers. The female side of Slowburn offers plenty of promise with the medium frame, wedge look to them and the breed up on those heifers was excellent. It brings us confidence in knowing these genetics have worked in various herds and management and the results have stayed the course in delivering a quality product to be counted on.
