Oh boy do we have a lineup of cattle gathered yet again for the TOC sale, red or black it is outstanding! Hats off to the consignors for digging deep yet again to continue to precedence set by this sale in bringing the sought after cattle from deep in their herd to SLS. I often say you need to sell the type that you want to buy and when you look at it from that angle it stands to reason why this sale is known for quality. This summer I feel really showcased the cow power and flexibility, durability, adaptability and overall qualities of what makes the Angus cow so popular. Doesn’t matter where you went this summer the grass was a lot harder and in many cases absent in the pastures across western Canada and yet the Angus cow held her flesh and did it with style. We all know what the summer was like so not going to focus on that end of things rather then the productivity the we witnessed as these hard working cows came in bred with a big calf at side, that’s impressive and that’s why we are in the business. Foundation type cattle like we have here in the TOC sale are the type to enhance the quality of your herd. We welcome you to join us in Saskatoon for two exciting sales with the Pride of the Prairies on Saturday. The cattle are available for viewing from Thursday on. If you have any questions regarding the offering feel welcome to contact any of us at Castlerock to discuss the offering. We live and breathe the cattle business as we are Angus producers ourselves, we experience all sectors of the livestock business everyday…We get it! See you sale day!

Jestress 66J is a chisel fronted heifer with gorgeous head. Her neck flows nicely into her shoulders for a beautifully designed female. She is sound on her feet and legs. This female is very royally bred with sound and proven genetics from top to bottom. The Jestress cow family has been a sound and productive one here for us. Renewal is a Reno son that has excellent numbers. He is a square hip, deep body and is a solid bull. The Renovation daughters we have working here have been excellent. We have used Reno for 3 years now. The bulls have been admired and well received by many at our Blue Collar Sale. This heifer is halter broke, responds to the show cane well and we believe, will make a very competitive jr. project and a functional cow in the future. She would be a very sound investment.

“Excellence is doing ordinary 3 things extraordinarily well.”-John W. Gardner. This quote resonates with me when I think of and look at Ruth 80J. She offers everything we simply expect from a female but does it with excellence. She has a gorgeous head, wonderful neck and shoulders which flow beautifully into a deep, thick body which is supported by strong legs and feet. Ruth 80J has wonderful hair and gentle temperament. This heifer is backed by two wonderful cow families in our herd. Ruth 84S and Princess 99Z have both achieved elite dam status with the CAA. Their production, fertility, legacy and longevity as both cows are calving here again in 2022. Herdbook on the CAA site will certainly tell you how outstanding this cows have been for us. Ruth 80J’s sire has been nothing short of spectacular. He produces functional and high performing heifers and bulls. We are excited to have his first daughters calving for us this spring. Ruth is halter broke, responds well to the halter and show cane. She would make an excellent jr. project and an excellent cow.

While in discussion with Shane regarding our sale females, we decided that 20/20 Miss Essence 19J had the power to stand alone in the 2021 Touch of Class sale. The word SOLID fits this female in every way possible. She is SOLID in her makeup with loads of muscle and middle and is very SOLID in her lineage with such females as Roper’s dam HF 246Z on the top side and then going back to our cornerstone female of years past in DMM Miss Essence 99K. Miss Essence 19J is bred/built and ready to take on the future, no matter the uncertainty in the world, you will be able to count on 19J.

An absolute sweetheart of a Bravo heifer that stopped us dead in our tracks this summer like hitting a washout. Balanced with extension through that front end and wedge shaped makes the lines on this heifer just jump out and grab you. Coming off a first calf heifer that more then pulled her weight in her first attempt, but then again these Countess females are one of our foundation lines going back more then 30 years. Bravo has been on a tear and by the looks of things its only going to get hotter next spring in the bull sales. Here’s a heifer that deserves consideration from the top of the replacement pen!

Foundation type genetics here from our beloved Bonnie Lady cow family that stems back to a 2001 purchase from Madsen’s at the Superstar Sale in Farmfair. Highly acclaimed the Bonnie Lady cow family has flat worked and here we are 20 years later and her track record has been impeccable. You want a no miss cow family there here is the start to your next new line of females! The Jackson line has left a trail of success as well for Bear Creek Angus and we had to further infuse his genetics into our herd. 56’21 carries a sweet front end with some extension along with that brood cow build right on through.

Another in dam purchase that I believe has a very bright future. She is out of tank of a first calver from Merit that is a maternal sister to the Dam of Sting and Stone Cold. This stylish calf is sired by Merit Paycheque, incorporating the best of both worlds, the power and growth of Payweight, combined with the fleshing ability of Coleman Knight. This is a calf you can’t go wrong with, a solid addition to the herd with junior heifer written all over her.

This March heifer has so much potential. She was shown successfully at Perdue Show and was Class winner at Ag in Motion. She is very quiet and would be an excellent junior project that will turn into a beautiful uddered, moderate cow. She possesses lots of width and depth of body with ample muscling while maintaining the feminine front end and a beautiful wedge shaped. Sired by the Guideline bull who comes from the Rose cow family which only enhances the prepotency.

21J is a typical Capone daughter, moderate, deep and very easy fleshing and again really appreciate the consistency he sires in both the bulls and heifers. Tanky, feminine cows and stout muscular sons work well for us. The Rose cow family come from the Chickadee dispersal and have done nothing but go forward since landing at our place. This heifer sports the quality to sit at the top of breeders replacement pens. DNA on coat color test of this female prior to sale day.

The Roughrider sire group were very popular calves on the Angus Tour whether male or female – We weren’t planning on parting with any Roughrider females due to the fact the semen is so hard to come by, but Shane insisted this heifer had to go to a sale somewhere. She has lots of power but is still a fancy, sweet-made heifer calf. This Eastondale Laramie and Benfield Substance pedigree, keeps reoccurring in our top females.

57E has done it again! A fantastic daughter of staunch that we purchased from Kenray through the Pride of the Prairies Sale as a bred heifer. Her first crack at it produced a bred heifer that sold through Red Roundup to Wood Coulee Red Angus. Her second was a bull selling through the Cow Boys Bull Sale and this is her third. She is a moderate, easy doing female with a tremendous udder. MRLA Resource 23F was a purchase out of the MRL sale when he was a standout bull in their pen. He is a fabulous herdsire that walks on a tremendous set of feet. He held his condition well this year while out with a pasture of almost 50 females. Just wait till you see the bulls we will offer next spring!! They’re cool! If you are looking for a female that is an outcross to most pedigrees, great structure, nice and dark and has a great mother that has done this walk before…. Here’s one for you!

This fine lady is the top performance heifer in the whole replacement pen, moderate birthweight weaned off at a whopping 805lbs, talk about maternal ability of the dam to get that done on one of the driest years in decades. Buckeye has done a fantastic job not only at our place but at our partners Wood Coulee where he sires dark red, hairy calves that keep the birthweight down but carry some extra muscle and punch to them. Our pen of bulls for Agribition is sired by Buckeye as well showing his potency in siring a good set of calves regardless of sex.

We partnered with Guillet Ranching in 2020 to purchase her sire Red Blairs Reckoning 665F, who is producing us some astonishing calves, and is taking our females to the next level. This exciting opportunity is a sample of what is to come out of our program in the next few years.

A great Eliminator daughter out of a stellar Basin Sensation daughter. She stops everyone in their tracks when they spot her on pasture tours. An Eliminator daughter our of a Skor female that started out at the BAR 4A herd. She was selected out of their female sale in 2015 as a calf. A larger cow just like this heifer will develop into. Tremendous udder development on this heifer just like her mother and all of the Eliminator females. He was a feature a few years ago in the Six Mile Sale where he was admired by many. Here is a heifer to be excited about. J Bar Dee Missy 5H comes from our oldest cow family. Her grandmother 32K was one of the best producing cows we have owned. I believe when she had 5H’s mom she was 15 years old and that was not her last calf. Now to jump to her sires side. Red Triple L Syringa 54D is a cow we purchased right here at the Touch of Class as one of the highest sellers the year she sold. She is quickly moved into one of the best cows that we have here on the farm. Her first calf, the sire to this heifer, is now working at Kenray Ranch. Her second calf was sold through the Mulberry Mayhem and the third, a bull calf in our bull pen this year is one that we are very proud of.

Her sire 19F was the high seller back in 2019 to great repeat commercial customers Collinge Land and Cattle. We were fortunate to retain an interest in the bull and he’s done a tremendous job. Tracing back to the Syringa cow family makes this one hard to let go. It seems like every year Shane talks me into bringing one out of this cow family. This T of D heifer is long spined, clean in her makeup and is as broody as they come. She’s sure to please whoever her new owner will be. A real brood cow in the making here stemming from the SAV package of cows we bought years ago and they have been productive year in and out. The lines on this heifer really tell you of the fleshing ability she carries and thank God she had that with the kind of summers we’ve had the last few years. The ability for these Angus cattle to thrive in harsh conditions is why they set the bar in the industry. Her Final Answer mother is a hard working cow, with this being her first calf, and raising a tank of a bull calf on try number two. You can take her home with confidence that she will be a producer. When we purchased the No Doubt son from Peak Dot, this girl is the type of females we had envisioned he would produce. Soft made with a beautiful top line and a tail head that sits just right. Elegant and fancy front end that screams look at me. Nice and deep all the way through finishing off with a good set of feet and legs under her. Betsy 127H dam is a product of a good maternally charged Laramie daughter, purchased from our good friends at Eastondale Angus. This beautiful heifer would look mighty fine wearing a halter, but I also believe she’ll go out and produce the right kind. Again we wanted to bring our best to town, Betsy 127H might just be it.

Here could be the frozen package of the year coming to you in Saskatoon at Castlerock’s brainchild of a sale called Touch of Class. That’s exactly what this frozen package of goodness is all class! This offering is aptly named as they have a Touch of Class. Both the sire and dam of these embryos are former back-to-back champions at FarmFair and Mulberry himself was back to back champion at Agribition! Freyja was named champion female at Agribition in 2018 as a bred heifer, then her first calf sold for $14 500 at RRup and now her latest natural calf commanded $12 000 at the 49th RRup. An ET product of 29E and Range Boss just set a new RRup division record price of $40 000 to Meadow Creek Angus (this makes her a full sister to Jeff Fraser’s newest outcross herdbull called Kenray Merit Red Boss 31H). Three flushes to date have been sold on this magnificent cow to average $10 250 and that all being before she is even in the prime production of her life Just imagine the possibilities not to mention the hopes and dreams you can conjure up with this bred in the purple mating of 2 legendary champions!

So just coming off the 49th RRup with a “Purple” Angus (Black red carrier) burned freshly in ALL of our minds, comes a frozen package of amazing capabilities. One of the last flushes that was preformed on our beloved old Reba 49W cow was done to one of the most highly decorated and celebrated black bulls ever to reside in Canada. Reba was as prolific a donor cow as I have ever seen, she was flushed 28 times for Brylor and OTM, and averaged 8.3 freezable embryos. Her genetics have been scattered in as many countries as you can name. She has had daughters’ top sales in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, and Alberta. The sire to this very unique set of embryos, was a bull that jumped out at me and hit me hard the very first time I viewed him at Wilbar that summer as a yearling. Later that fall, he went on to accomplish a feat never, ever done before by a black Canadian bull. That was to win both Agribition and Denver in the same show season. Remarkable! Just imagine the absolutely chiseled front ends and stunning profiles of this mating at your ranch! 3 Exportable embryos FOB DRI guarantee one 90 day pregnancy if implanted by a certified technician
