Section III. Summary Information A. Please summarize activities for the quarter. Include any special events, staff changes, and new program approaches. Limit your response to one page. DO NOT append copies of flyers, etc. October thru Decembers Activities

 College Preparation Conference: This conference brought together several college graduates and 21 Futures members to talk about the requirements needed to attend and finish college. The talks covered mental preparations for studying and prioritizing to the social aspects of attending college. The members of 21 Futures engaged in short role-plays as well as a Q/A session.  Hearing Youth Voices: Several members of Connecticut Youth Coalition put this conference together. 2 members of 21 Futures attended this conference as representatives from New Haven. This conference gave the youth in the state of Connecticut a chance to voice concerns as well as to applaud the efforts of some programs that empower youth.  Social Events: 21 Futures received invitations to several plays during this past quarter. They attended Plays held at the Long Warf Theater and Yale Performance Center. 21 Futures End of the Year Dinner 21 Futures members prepared the food for the 21 Futures End of the Year Dinner. Rapping up the final days of the year as well as planning what they would like to see happen in the New Year. 21 Futures Fright Fest. Post Halloween overnight party.  Peace Walk: Community members organized a peace walk on Yale Bowl to demand better jobs and better education for the city residents.  21 Futures and Empower New Haven: A Documentary of programs in the city of New Haven where 21 Futures were one of the featured programs. The documentary was premiered at Empowerment Zones Annual Meeting.  NFTE (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship): 21 Futures members who completed the NFTE work took their first trip to the Wholesale District in NYC. A bus was chartered and those members who earned their first shopping stipend to buy products went on the trip. They will be selling these items during an upcoming business bazaar.


B. Is the project on schedule? Is the project fully staffed? Please explain. It is on schedule and fully staffed. There are three coordinators.

C. Are there any new program approaches or intervention strategies being considered or implemented? If so, please explain. Over the past month, we have notice a drop in members attending on a regular basis and decided to take a more pro-active role in getting those members back into the activities. We have started a few new indicatives to increase membership in 21 Futures. A citywide recruitment starts for the month of January to all the local high schools as well as radio and newsletters, along with going member’s houses to pick them up.
