February 12, 2002 Ms. Ondria Lucky United Way of Greater New Haven 71 Orange Street New Haven, Ct 06510 Re: Community Response Fund Application Dear Ms. Lucky, As the current program coordinator of the 21 Futures program in the Hill Neighborhood, I support the “Skills of the Trade” project for the youth of New Haven, which will provide “hands on” training for city youths in various work fields and skill levels. This project especially interests me due to our long-standing commitment of providing youth with opportunities and skills they can use to become productive and functional adults. Services from the 21 Futures Services reach 40-50 core members, and we also have access to at least 300 more of the city youth due to various events held here at the agency. With a project like this, our ability to provide youth with more opportunities and skills will be greatly amplified. In collaboration with the City Wide Youth Coalition, we will be able to reach more of our cities youth and provide skills that are not just a value to the attending youth, but to the community as a whole. Sincerely, Omar Xavior R. Ford Program Coordinator/21 Futures. C/O Hill Cooperative Youth Services. 158 Carlisle St New Haven CT, 06519
