My portfolio is a compilation of my previous semester works at UID. These modules have given me an insight into the world of graphic design. I am looking forward to this internship as a learning experience and shape my basic concepts of design.

CORPORATE IDENTITY The purpose of this project is to create an identity for Indian products. I have taken spices as my product because Indian spices are globally famous. They are known for their aroma, taste and flavour.


ABOUT THE BRAND Indian spices are globally famous. They are known for their aroma, taste and flavour. People use spices in their dishes as well as for healing purposes. Potpourris are a mixture of dried spices and leaves like; cinnamon, allspice, etc., kept in a container in a room. This will give a pleasant aroma and remove the pungent smell from the room. MISSION To make people relaxed and stress- relieved. VISION To promote India globally through the flavour and aroma of Indian spices.

COLOUR PALATTE

-My brand name is “Karshay” which means “aromatic” in Sanskrit. C= 0% M= 100% Y= 72% K= 37%

FONT

C= 0% M= 100% Y= 72% K= 19%

The font used in the logo is “Humanst521 Lt BT.”

-The symbol shows an inclined ‘S’ depicting S for spice; also the fragrance of the spices.

-It is in an inclined positon because fragrance does not have a definite direction, and also shows a person in a relaxed mode.


IDEATION Jotted down the key words related to “spices� and drew simple forms based on those words.

Digitalised the form and played with its orientation.


COLLATERALS



BOOK DESIGN Folk stories usually differ from region to region, and are often written in the local language. Due to urban- modern lifestyle, people have migrated from their native places to cities with their families. Hence, listening to folk tales is quite a rare case now a days.


SYNOPSIS Some of these tales are found written in the mother tongue- Malayalam.

The children residing outside the state of Kerala get very little opportunity to read and write Malayalam and to the ways of the village life in Kerala and thus, not exposed to these local folklores.

Translated in English, the book is meant to let the children get acquainted to their roots before they even start to learn their own language and rediscover the tales on their own.

IDEATION


FINAL DESIGN

The word “Pappus” is dervied from the word “pappos” which means ‘Old Man’ in Latin. Also, Pappus is an Indian milkweed, known as, “Appooppan Thadi” (literally means ‘grandfather’s moustache’) in Malayalam.

Since the book is about folklores of Kerala, hence the name; “Pappus- An Old Man’s Tales.”


SOCIAL COMMUNICATION The purpose of this project was to take up a social issue and convey the message using any medium of our choice.


SOCIAL ANXIETY

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

In today’s world, people’s expectations from us teenagers are very high and in meeting them tremendous pressure is imposed upon us. This makes some of us conscious about ourselves and thus becomes anxious.

Many of us do not know how to represent ourselves to the society and how to deal with such problems.

We need to learn handle our feelings by controlling our anxiety positively and thereby reduce our suffering. I have tried to combine illustrations and a teenager’s thought processes in this book.

The teenagers with social anxiety will be able to relate to this book and open up and be socially acceptable. They will stop considering themselves as a misfit and mingle with their peers. I have shown anxiety as a human being.

I sketched down different situations in which one can suffer from anxiety and tried to add humour through captions.

It’s not your job to like me. It’s mine.

Anime is the best way to escape from ‘Reality.’


FINAL DESIGN

This book is made as relatable as possible to teenagers in situations that can trigger anxiety. Hence, the title, “Awkwaaarrd...”.


UI/UX To develop a mobile application for students and working class travelling by BEST buses in Mumbai.


First, I jotted down all the keywords related to BEST bus.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 15- 60 years of age. PROJECT BACKGROUND: BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking) buses are convenient and economical means of transport in Mumbai. Passengers are not aware of the bus timings and its frequency.

Then I took a survey and listed down the problems faced the passengers travelling by BEST buses.

People are not aware of the bus numbers and are not able to identify their respective bus stops. PROJECT CONTEXT:

A platform that provides the correct notifications and indications of bus timings and other details regarding the bus. Convenient means of tracking the bus.

A system where people can book tickets through digital transactions.


FINAL DESIGN: The colour palatte of the application is Red, White and Grey. Red as the main colour as that is the colour of the BEST bus.

Features include: Personal account, GPS system, Tracking of the bus, Alternative buses, Routes and other notifications.



PACKAGING DESIGN The purpose of this project was to design the packaging of a high- end product.


The new packaging is in a rectangular box. On the inside, the chain is kept on a wooden stand, which is inspired from the Tanishq logo. The stand can also be used for other jewellery items like bangles and earrings.

Our product is Tanishq gold chain. For a necklace, we needed a packaging that would look simple, sophisticated, and protect the jewellery inside.

For the surface graphics, there is a peacock feather and ‘Tanishq’ is written. The peacock feather symbolises royalty, purity and wealth. We chose burgandy as base colour and golden for the logo and the form. *This was a group project

We have used foam sheet to carry the weight of the wooden stand, and the necklace would be safe inside.
