MArch Student
ABOUT I am a German/Canadian Architecture student educated in Ottawa, Heidelberg, Copenhagen and Toronto. I have been exposed to a variety of Architecture from ancient to modern, with a passion for Italian Baroque and German Romanesque. Due to my classical music education in violin from a young age, I have gained a great appreciation for monumental buildings that have accommodated light and acoustics, which is one of the many essences of architecture. Buildings are living objects of history that reflect the people that are using its structures and I find myself admiring Scandinavian architects who have found a balance between contemporary and heritage architecture in everyday life.
EDUCATION 2017 - current John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Urban Design Master in Architecture The professional Master of Architecture is a rigorous and comprehensive program, preparing graduates for the full range of activities in architecture. The program aims to develop critical, creative, and independent thinking and research that responds to current design issues and societal change.
2015 - 2016 KEA - Copenhagen School of Design and Technology BA of Architectural Technology and Construction Management During the three semester I studied in Copenhagen, I was able to study design consultancy, facilities management and construction management. BIM is an integrated part of the education, which I believe will have a strong impact on the future development and progression of the building industry. 2014 - 2015 Heidelberg University The Ontario Baden-Württemberg student exchange Heidelberg University is a German Excellence University, as well as a founding member of the League of European Research Universities and the Coimbra Group. During my exchange I focused on research in German Romanesque and French Gothic architecture with some of Europe’s leading researchers in the field. 2011 - 2015 Carleton University BA History and Theory of Architecture This program explores the history and meaning of the built environment, and how it reflects and shapes human circumstances. The program offers a selection of courses on architectural history and theory ranging from antiquity to postmodernism.
2017 Exam invigilator at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design 2015 - 2017 Userneeds A/S - Analyst Consultant Responsible for creating reports, analyzing usability data, assist the Sales Account Manager with ad hoc-tasks, creating PP presentation using Excel documentation as well as translating texts from German into English. 2015 - 2014 Practicum with the Society of the Study of Architecture in Canada (SSAC) Archival work of Documentation that was presented at the annual conference in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. 2013 - 2014 Heidelberg University - Research Asst. SYDHAVN DESIGN
Technical Exercise - Copenhagen School of Technology and Design
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Develop a housing prototype based on the Courtyard Housing Typologies from the Dutch development at Borneo Sporenborg in Amsterdam. Develop a high-quality BIM model of the Row-house which will be placed in Sydhavn, Denmark. The House type was analyzed, modified and updated to take account of the site, orientation, and local Danish Regulations. Full project documentation was presented in front of 3 external examiners. The aim of the project was to develop competencies in the use of BIM-based projects Methodology and to develop Student competencies in Revit, Teamwork and presentation Methods.
GROUP WORK
Design Proposal
Each group member was responsible for developing one construction element in complete detail, while it was a group effort to compile the full project documentations. My tasks were to develop a concise representation of the foundations and all it included, such as Sidewalk regulations and Sewage systems. By contacting the suppliers I was able to gather enough information to create a technical section cut of the floor heating system used in the design. Site view of Sydhavn, Denmark 4

DESIGN DESCRIPTION The city of Copenhagen has experienced a radical increase in population in the last decade. People are seeking quieter areas to retreat to with their families, where they can be in touch with nature but still close to the city. Sydhavn is a newly developed area which is getting more and more attention for its urbanistic approach which suits the Da nish community well. Denmark is an extremely self-conscious country where its citizens have high expectations regarding urbanism and environmentally friendly solutions. This project was designed to allow maximum light inside the building while having close proximity to nature and water such as canals. The courtyards create the opportunity for leisure activities and safe spaces for children to play.

CHALLENGES To challenge of this project was to design a building according to the Building Regulations from Denmark and the location of site. Due to the close proximity to water and the canals of the cities, special regulations had to be considered, such as tidal water levels and emergency access from land and water.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
2 TORONTO JUNCTION MAKERS’ MART Academic Project - University of Toronto
The aim of this project was to produce a structure that will be used to house the program of a Makers’ Mart. The program consists of artists studios, maker spaces, exhibition space, public market, services, circulation and an outdoor market space that could possible host an ice skating facility. The programs are of varying sizes and grain, with different requirements from privacy necessitating a formal system of enclosure. Roof access was required to occupy a portion of the Roof structure.

Dundas West Station
26 Ernest Ave, Toronto, ON M6P 3M7 The location is a highly developed outer area of Toronto called West Toronto Junction. It is an affordable area which appeals to a wide demographic from young families, to artists to urban professionals. The site is across from the Division Gallery, enclosed by newly developed apartment houses, directly connected by Train.
THE FORM The shape of my Form was developed from a passion to Islamic tile pattern. There is a fascination of the endless possibilities of adding simple geometrical shapes to an infinity of patterns and styles that complement each other. By using basic forms such as a triangle and square, I was able to develop a Roof structure that was flexible enough to accommodate my program and fit into the site. To create an elevation of space, overlapping cones were used to give the structure volume and interior space. 12

THE PLAN Using the tile pattern formed by the Reflected Ceiling Plan, the program is a literal translation of the Roof assembly. Studio and makers spaces are defined by glass walls to keep the transparency between the visitor and artist. Storage units and bathrooms are enclosed by a roof to keep privacy. The central space is the largest to accommodate assembly spaces and interior market and exhibition opportunities. 15

3 VOID INTO STAIRS
Geometric Exercise - University of Toronto
PROJECT DESCRIPTION The aim of this project was to create a “host volumn” and a set of three voids that intersect each other. These voids are to be cut into a volumn that is placed between two buildings that are 36’ feet apart. To determine the shape and logic of the volumn, a family of geometries was made in a series of logical operations. The intersecting voids have to connect multiple levels of the enclosing buildings. The second step was then to inhabit the negative pochee space with sets of stairs and ramps.

4 SITE, BUILDING, TECTONICS
Site and Landscape Exercise - University of Toronto
PROJECT DESCRIPTION The aim of this project was to develop a design strategy that activates the landscape in a manner that promotes participation, engagement, spectacle, and play while maintaining, reinforcing, and improving the park as a lens to the City.
LOCATION The panorama from the western edge of Broadview Avenue, a few blocks south of the Danforth, envelops the diversity of Toronto’s landscape: the grand sweep of the Don Valley, the tree ridges bordering historic neighborhoods and, on the horizon, the towers of the financial district. The shoulder of the park slopes steeply down from the road and there are no easy access points. The landscape is marked by informal paths carved into the terrain over time but the descent to the lower region of the park remains an exercise for the agile.
DESIGN The Design is an abstraction of the city of Toronto in 1856, the year when the Don Valley land was purchased by the city to expend. The Concrete block that resemble the different city districts are arranged according to the slope of the hill, so that when a person stands at the bottom they can see a historic footprint of what used to be, versus standing on top seeing the modern city today. 20

5 UTZON HOUSE
Academic Project - Copenhagen School of Technology and Design
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Inspired by the “Kingo Houses” by Jørgen Utzon in Helsingør Denmark, this project aimed to create a housing development of traditional Danish Farmhouses with central courtyards which could be duplicated taking into account the lie of the land and the surroundings. The design was based on the square houses and modified to fit modern Danish building regulations as well as adapt to a larger family.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION The Design is made to house accommodation to a typical Danish Family of four. The central curtain wall will give a feeling of being close to nature while giving enough natural light for the insides. The curved roof, or “butterfly roof, allows a natural play of light and dimensions within the structure. The house will offer three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, open kitchen with living room as well as a parking garage to accommodate one car, accord to Danish building Regulations.

AND MATCH 6 MIX Visual Communication Exercise - University of Toronto DESCRIPTION The aim of this Exercise is to investigate the relationships between representation, design and discourse via precedent study. The precedent will be taken as a starting point from where to evolve. The purpose of the exercise is to introduce modes of architectural visualization that can become methods of designing and thinking about architecture; to develop an awareness of conventions of architectural representation and to explore possibilities for innovative extensions of these conventions;and to carve our own way of seeing and representing the architectural world. Each drawing is a mix and match of a Building precedents and an Architectural styles that were combined to create an architectural drawing.
