New target drone sees first action Making its public debut at the IDEX show is the Sikorsky UH-60M Armed Black Hawk, the first having been officially unveiled in January during an event attended by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Three of the helicopters are participating in the tactical demonstration, and another is on static display at the NAVDEX waterfront site.

The UAE became the launch customer for Sikorsky’s Armed Black Hawk (ABH) weaponisation kit in 2011, when a contract with Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) was announced at the

IDEX show. ADAT is the principal shareholder of AMMROC (Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre), then a joint venture between ADAT and Sikorsky, and subsequently expanded to include Lockheed Martin (which now owns Sikorsky). AMMROC has so far completed six of 24 modifications.

The ABH kit provides the UH-60M with a weapons capability that is fully integrated with the helicopter’s digital avionics suite. Qualification was achieved in February 2018 after around two years of live-firing trials undertaken mostly at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.

sensor/laser designator turret that provides accurate targeting to both pilots through helmet-mounted displays. Stub wings each have two hardpoints for the carriage of rocket pods, gun pods and launchers for up to 16 Hellfire missiles. The system also supports the operation of 7.62mm Miniguns mounted in the cabin windows, which can be fixed to fire forward under pilot operation, or as crewserved weapons on flexible mounts.

For long-endurance missions, the UH-60M can carry a full external weapons load with ammunition pallets and an auxiliary fuel tank in the cabin. In the transport role, the UH-60M can seat 10 troops with two window gunners.

BY DAVID DONALD Yesterday at IDEX Lockheed Martin, Diehl Defence and Saab launched a new short-/mediumrange ground-based air defence (GBAD) system. Known as Falcon and initiated as a programme in 2016, the system draws on the command and control, missile and radar expertise of the three companies to create an integrated standalone system that offers exceptional capability in its class.

Falcon is being promoted to various nations, including the UAE, which has issued a request for information concerning a Hawk surface-to-air missile replacement.

Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor and lead system integrator, and also supplier of the SkyKeeper battle management system, which is based on the UK’s Land Environment Air Picture Provision system, which creates a recognised air picture from data supplied by British Army Giraffe AMB radars and other sources.

In the Falcon system the organic radar information is provided by the Saab Giraffe 4A S-band radar, one of a new group of radars produced by the Swedish company based on the latest gallium nitride semi-conductor technology. The radar provides 360° coverage out to an instrumented range of 280km, rotating at 60rpm but also offering a staring capability. The

Diehl Defence supplies the Iris-T SLM interceptors, based to some extent on the Iris-T air-to-air missile but developed specifically for a GBAD role. Vertically launched to give a true 360° coverage capability, the Iris-T SLM has an engagement range of between less than 1km and 40km, and altitude capability of up to 20km. Guidance is by radar-directed datalink and an infrared seeker. A thrust-vectoring

motor gives the missile a high level of agility.

A typical Falcon battery is envisaged with a single SkyKeeper command and control unit, one Giraffe 4A radar and three Iris-T SLM launchers, each of which carries eight interceptor canisters.

All elements are mobile, allowing rapid deployment. The system can track more than 800 targets, and all 24 interceptors can be launched simultaneously at separate targets.

Additional Iris-T launchers and other types of effectors can be integrated, while Falcon itself can be networked into a wider air defence system. n

At yesterday’s daily UAE General Headquarters press briefing, a contract with Raytheon was announced covering the supply of Patriot launcher systems, worth approximately AED5.73 billion (US$1.56 billion). This follows an earlier AED1.3 billion (US$350 million) contract awarded to Raytheon, announced on Sunday, that covered the missiles themselves. The UAE is already an existing Patriot operator. During Monday’s press briefing, GHQ announced 24 deals worth a combined total of more than AED7 billion (US$1.9 billion).

Of these, 18 have been signed with UAE companies for a total of AED1.15 billion (US$300 million). n

BY DAVID DONALD Around three-and-a-half years ago, Canadian-headquartered training system integrator CAE established its regional office in Abu Dhabi, reflecting increased business in the Gulf region, and in the UAE in particular. The company’s first Middle East business was to deliver flight simulators to the Royal Saudi Air Force in 1982, and in 2002 it began its association with the UAE with the establishment of the joint-venture Emirates-CAE Flight Training facility.

In recent years, the company has moved away from being primarily a manufacturer of simulators to become a full-spectrum training provider, offering integrated systems that include instruction and, in some cases, live platforms.

As the training partner for General Atomics and provider of Predator/ Reaper training for the US Air Force, CAE has also developed considerable expertise in the remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) sector.

That expertise has been put to use in establishing an integrated training solution for the UAE’s RQ-1E Predator fleet, including live flying training. Contracted in May 2017, the RQ-1E facility has already completed two full courses, with a third under way.

Multi-domain traini instructors for the facility, as well as a range of training aids, including a Predator Mission Trainer. In three instances to date, CAE instructors have successfully recovered RQ‑1Es that have developed in-flight problems and might otherwise have been lost.

In conjunction with the Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College, CAE also provides an RPA Fundamentals course at Al Ain. Two full courses have been conducted so far, giving pilots and sensor operators a thorough grounding in the principles and operational application of RPAs. A third course begins in May. The UAE is looking to ultimately dual-qualify its RPA crews in both pilot and operator roles, with the aim of eventually moving to single-operator missions.

In 2016, CAE was contracted by the UAE’s Joint Aviation Command (JAC) to deliver training systems for the Northstar/ Bell 407MRH and Sikorsky UH‑60M Armed Black Hawk (ABH) helicopters. The 407MRH system comprises six table-top trainers, which were delivered in 2017, and a fixed-base, highfidelity, Level-7 equivalent flight training device (FTD) that offers a wide field-of-view. The FTD has

been completed and accepted, and is due for delivery to the JAC in mid-2019 upon completion of the training facility.

For the UH-60M ABH, the company is providing a fullmission, full-motion CAE 3000 Series simulator similar to that delivered to the Royal Brunei Air Force. Currently in the

integration phase at CAE’s Tampa, Florida, facility, and scheduled for delivery to the JAC in late 2019, the simulator is reconfigurable between the armed ABH and utility transport configurations. It is based on the simulator that CAE has developed for the US Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

Another major CAE programme is the UAE Naval Training Centre (NTC) being established at Taweelah that provides comprehensive naval training, ranging from instruction of individual operators in a range of disciplines, through combat team and whole-ship training, to multivessel exercises. The NTC is close

to reaching its critical design review milestone. The first-phase Ready For Training (RFT1) milestone is due for mid-2020. Various bridge simulators that are provided by Dutch subcontractor VSTEP are now in shakedown at the CAE’s Montreal facility, and the NTC building is nearly complete. Later this year, some elements will be declared as Ready To Use (RTU).

Ship simulators can represent various classes of vessel, and can be configured with specific combat management systems. A development path for the NTC envisages the networking of additional distributed sites, and the integration of live vessels that are both alongside in port or at sea.

Elsewhere in the GCC region, CAE is developing the Joint Multinational Simulation Centre, which will provide a theatre-level training facility for tactical/strategic staff/command training and decision support, including multi-national operations. In Kuwait, CAE has established a training facility with full-mission simulator for the air force’s Lockheed KC-130J tanker/ transport fleet at Al Mubarak air base. The centre is likely to expand with the addition of helicopter and fast-jet training systems.

In 2018, CAE signed a servicelevel agreement with the Omani Authority for Partnership for Development to support the creation of the Oman Aerospace Academy. Being established under EASA regulations and initially overseen by CAE’s EASA-accredited flight school at Oxford, UK, the Oman academy will train both commercial and military pilots.

CAE continues to invest heavily in new technology, with more than $1 billion earmarked over the next five years as part of its Project Digital Intelligence initiative. This project seeks to harness developments in artificial intelligence, big data, cyber security, cloud computing and augmented/virtual reality to training systems. n

Leonardo’s new M-40 target drone has completed its first live missions for the Italian Navy during a recent training exercise at an armed forces test range.

Able to represent a full spectrum of radar, infrared (IR) and visual threats, the M-40 is the latest evolution of Leonardo’s Mirach family of unmanned airborne targets. According to the company, the M-40 has been developed to offer medium- to highperformance target presentations at a price comparable with competitors’ entry-level drones.

The recent live firing exercise saw the aircraft carrier Cavour and its complement of Harrier II+ aircraft training alongside the destroyer Mimbelli. The M-40

During the recent Italian Navy exercise, the Mirach 100/5 was employed to simulate a missile attack against the naval vessels, allowing the crew to train with SM-1 and Aster 15 missiles. n

Empowering industry for a better tomorrow Tawazun Economic Council (Outdoor CP-300) has announced the launch of the Defense and Security Development Fund with a capital of AED2.5 billion (approximately $680 million).

The Fund is intended towards enablement of the defence and security sector and its contribution to the economic development in the United Arab Emirates. The Defense and Security Development Fund will unveil key financing and investment programmes at the Tawazun Pavilion.

His Excellency Tareq Abdul Raheem Al Hosani, chief executive of Tawazun Economic Council, said the Council established the Fund in order to encourage the private sector to invest in the fields of defence and security, and contribute to the development of national and technological industries, including SMEs – with the aim of building a diversified and sustainable national economy.

Abdullah Nasser Al Jaabari, Chief Officer and Head of the Defense and Security Development Fund, stated that the Fund will focus on three main areas: strategic technology investments and intellectual property; strengthening innovation and industrial capabilities; and development of SMEs and local companies.

Al Jaabari confirmed that the Fund operates a two-pronged approach model, through investment and financing and specialised financing programmes that will launch in the last quarter of the year. BY CHRISTOPHER F FOSS General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) (Stand 03-C07) is showing for the first time in the Middle East a model of its new infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) it has proposed for the Australian Army Land 400 Phase 3 requirement for a mounted close combat capability (MCCC), and other potential export customers.

This leverages from the Ajax family of tracked vehicles that GDLS –UK has developed to meet the requirements of the British Army to replace its Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) Scorpion family.

The new vehicle for Australia is fitted with a GDLS-designed two-person turret armed with a stabilised 30mm dual-feed cannon and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, coupled to a computerised

The Campus Cockerill training facility in France is now fully operational and includes hightech classrooms, fully equipped workshops and accommodation for people under training, as well as access to a military firing range.

The facility is used to train the crews of CMI Defence turrets and those maintaining them.

the vehicle can carry six dismounts, who can rapidly enter and leave via the power-operated ramp.

The Land 400 Phase 3 requirement is for 450 vehicles to replace the currently deployed M113AS4 series vehicles. There are two elements to the MCCC: an IFV and a manoeuvre support vehicle (MSV). Australia issued the request for tender in August 2018 and these have to be

returned by 1 March 2019, with a down-select to two contenders for a risk mitigation activity before final down-select to one vehicle. Projected initial operating capability is in 2024/25.

The British Army is due to take delivery of 589 Ajax series, with initial production being undertaken in Spain, followed by transfer to the UK at GDLS’ facilities in South Wales.

In addition to the dedicated Ajax reconnaissance vehicle fitted with a two-person turret armed with a CTAI 40mm Cased Telescoped Armament System and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, there is a family of variants already developed. These are the Ares armoured personnel carrier, Athena command and control vehicle, Apollo support vehicle with crane, Atlas recovery vehicle, and the Argus engineer vehicle.

Survival assured

BY CHRISTOPHER F FOSS Rheinmetall (Stand 09-A10, German Pavilion) is launching its new Hybrid Protection Module (HPM) here at IDEX, which combines active and passive technology.

This modular protection system can be installed on tracked and

wheeled platforms to enhance their survivability against anti-tank guided weapons (ATGWs) fitted with a tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead. It is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 and is expected to be at TRLÂ 8 in 18 to 24 months.

According to Rheinmetall, the new HPM enables an integrative

approach: passive protection components simultaneously serve as an interface and shield for the components of the Active Defense System (ADS).

Conversely, the ADS components comprise ballistic functions and characteristics.

The specially harmonised bulkhead design features two layers. The first one is the external protection layer, which protects the ADS components against shell fragments, small arms fire and other sources of mechanical stress.

The ADS countermeasure component is embedded in the first protection plate from the outside. The deflector serves simultaneously as part of the first layer of protection, with the sensors of the system being contained in the space in between.

The company states that in the standalone mode, the complete module offers additional ballistic

janes.com/idex protection that significantly enhances the ballistic integrity of the vehicle hull. It is effective against the widely deployed rocket propelled grenades (RPGs), as well as anti-tank guided missiles fitted with a HEAT warhead.

In addition to being fitted to tracked and wheeled armoured fighting vehicles, the size of the HPM allows it to be installed on tactical vehicles due to its height of less than 150mm. In addition, the new modules can replace existing add-on protection elements either completely or in part.

A key feature of the HPM is its flexible design, allowing it to be readily adapted to meet individual customer requirements; Rheinmetall has already fabricated various prototype modules.

The company has successfully conducted rigorous ballistic trials of variously configured modules with RPGs and ATGWs. n

Wind tunnel tests for missile

BY RICHARD SCOTT Raytheon Missile Systems (Stand 03-B07) has completed an extensive programme of wind tunnel testing for the extendedrange version of the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-toAir Missile (AMRAAM) as part of qualification for integration with the NASAMS surface-to-air missile system.

The new AMRAAM-ER variant introduces a larger rocket motor and new flight control algorithms to afford NASAMS a significantly expanded engagement envelope; according to Raytheon, the new missile offers a 50 per cent increase in maximum range, and a 70 per cent increase in altitude performance.

into the NASAMS system alongside the existing sensor and FDC building blocks.

As part of the AMRAAMER qualification programme, the missile aerodynamics were subjected to more than 1,700 rigorous wind tunnel tests, completing last month.

“During these tests, we put AMRAAM-ER through a full range of potential flight conditions to validate the missile’s future performance on the battlefield,” said Kim Ernzen, Raytheon’s vice president for Air Warfare Systems.

Raytheon engineers will now analyse data from the wind tunnel test runs to verify and update the AMRAAM-ER missile’s aerodynamic models to maximise its performance. n

Military spending soars Local and international companies were awarded contracts worth AED4.9 billion (approximately US$1.35 billion), it was announced on the opening day of IDEX 2019. IDEX spokesman Brigadier Mohammed Khamis Al Hassani, along with NAVDEX spokesman Colonel Fahd Nasser Al-Dhahli, said deals were made with 15 foreign firms and 18 domestic companies. The contracts include: the purchase of Patriot missiles from USA-based Raytheon, valued at AED1.3 billion; naval and land systems from Australia’s EOS Defence for AED1.1 billion; additional capabilities to be supplied

by Lockheed Martin to the UAE Air Force’s radar capabilities, worth AED404 million; and technical support by Switzerlandbased Rheinmetall Air Defence for the SkyGuard system.

Russia secured an AED147 million Kornet-EM 150 missile contract and India’s Ordnance Factory a 155mm artillery ammunition deal. Jordan’s King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau scored an AED205 million contract to provide missiles and training rounds for the UAE Army and for South Africa’s Paramount Group for its Mbombe armoured vehicles.

Domestic companies also won orders, such as IGG for the supply of military clothing accessories totalling AED300 million and the installation of electronic shooting systems, worth AED95 million.

Knowledge Point won an AED239 million deal to provide advisory services to the UAE Armed Forces. Al-Fattan Ship Industry will supply naval vessels worth AED56 million and Deena Shipping a training vessel and training services worth AED99 million. n

Modular ship self-protection

BY RICHARD SCOTT MBDA (Stand 07-A07) has unveiled details of a new containerised ship self-protection system designed to provide otherwise unarmed ships with a short-range defence capability in high threat zones.

Known as SPIMM (SelfProtection Integrated Mistral Module), the system leverages MBDA’s Mistral missile and SIMBAD-RC remote control turret to protect against airborne threats – including anti-ship missiles, aircraft, UAVs and helicopters – and seaborne fast inshore attack craft. The latter capability was demonstrated for the first time in a trial conducted in December 2018.

According to Christophe Leduc, MBDA’s product executive for naval defence systems, the development of the SPIMM concept reflects navies’ emerging need for a system that can be temporarily installed on support ships, logistics vessels and chartered commercial vessels as they transit littoral waters or chokepoints where there is a heightened threat of attack.

“Such ships may not have an escort 24/7,” said Leduc. “SPIMM enables the urgent and rapid adaptation of these ships to cope

with new threats, or for using them in contested areas.”

The SPIMM module is based on a standard ISO 10ft container, on which is mounted a SIMBADRC turret equipped with two ready-to-fire Mistral missiles, and a 360° infrared panoramic system to detect and track air and surface threats. The system is controlled by two operators located in a shelter inside the module; locker space is also provided in the module for the ready storage of up to four

additional Mistral missiles.

Weighing about 7 tonnes, the SPIMM module occupies a relatively small upper deck footprint and can easily be craned on board.

Four twist-lock connectors are used to secure the container on deck: the only ship interface is a standard electrical connection to the ship’s power supply.

For larger ships, two SPIMM modules can be fitted to provide full 360° protection. In this case, said Leduc, the modules are

interconnected and configured in a ‘master and slave’ arrangement: the two operators remain in the ‘master unit’, while the ‘slave’ is operated remotely.

The first deliveries of SPIMM could be made within two years of contract. “The technology is all proven and in place,” said Leduc.

“What we are waiting for now is a first contract, which would fund final development [to] complete the packaging and qualification of the whole system.” n

Multi-role Ajban is here

BY CHRISTOPHER F FOSS IDEX 2019 is the venue for the first showing of the Ajban 447A (4x4) multi-role armoured vehicle (MRAV) by NIMR Automotive LLC (Emirates Defence Industries Company Stand 05-A05).

According to the company, the Ajban 447A has been designed to undertake a wide range of specialist military roles to provide a high level of survivability, mobility and firepower.

The diesel engine compartment is at the front and, to the immediate rear of this, is the fully enclosed and well protected crew compartment extending to the rear.

In addition to the commander and driver, the Ajban 447A can carry five dismounts; all crew members

are provided with blast-attenuating seats. The crew can rapidly enter and leave via two doors on either side. An independent suspension system is fitted to provide a high

level of cross-country mobility, and a central tyre inflation system allows the driver to adjust the tyre pressure to suit the terrain being crossed.

A key feature of the Ajban 447A is that it has a scalable level of ballistic, mine blast and improvised explosive device (IED) protection, and bullet-/splinter-proof windows are provided for enhanced situational awareness. The vehicle can be fitted with a wide range of weapon systems to meet specific operational requirements and is being shown at IDEX with the Platt MR550 shielded ring mount armed with a Dillon Aero 7.62mm M134D Minigun and the Lacroix Automated Obscurance System (AOS), which includes sensors and banks of grenade launchers.

General manager Ali Al Mansoori said: “This 4x4 complements our existing range, allowing NIMR to expand beyond our current four-crew light- to medium-weight vehicle configuration into increased capacity with a multi-role capability.� n

The Red Arrow, also referred to as the HJ-10, has previously been shown integrated onto a ZBD-08 full tracked armoured fighting vehicle (AFV).

The system has two banks each of four Red Arrow 10 series ATGW in their canisters in the ready-to-launch position on a turntable, which can be traversed through 360°, enabling it to be rapidly laid onto the target.

The VN1 (8x8) is used in significant numbers by the People’s Liberation Army in many configurations, as well as an APC. These include a fully amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, which is propelled in the water by two propellers, mounted one either side at the rear.

The main advantage of installing the Red Arrow 10 on a wheeled platform rather than a tracked platform is that it has great strategic mobility and lower operating and support costs.

Tracked vehicles normally have to be deployed over long distances by heavy equipment transporters, while wheeled vehicles can be deployed on their own. n

APC version of Al‑Wahsh on show The Jordanian King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB, Stand 01-B08) is displaying its latest Al-Wahsh (4x4)

armoured fighting vehicle in the armoured personnel carrier (APC) configuration. This is now in quantity production and is based

on a Tatra (4x4) platform fitted with independent suspension, which gives a high level of crosscountry mobility and a good ride for the crew.

The front-mounted protected powerpack consists of a 370hp diesel coupled to an automatic transmission, which gives the Al‑Wahsh a maximum road speed of 110km/h and a cruising range of about 600km.

The vehicle on display here at IDEX is fitted with the locally developed Snake Head one-person cupola, which can be fitted with various weapons, including twin .50 M2 machine guns.

In addition to the basic APC, there are a number of more specialised versions, including an internal security vehicle, command and control vehicle with extensive communications equipment, and a self-propelled

artillery system. The latter has a flatbed to the rear of the protected cab, on which is installed a 105mm artillery system.

The sides and rear of the rear platform can be rapidly folded down into the horizontal position to provide a working area for the gun crew, with the weapon firing over the rear arc. The main advantage of the self-propelled artillery system, when compared with conventional towed guns, is that it has a lower crew requirement and can be more rapidly brought into and taken out of action and is, therefore, more survivable against counter-battery fire.

KADDB has confirmed that trials with the Al-Mared (8x8), also based on a Tatra cross-country chassis, are continuing. Because this vehicle has more volume and payload, it can undertake a wider range of battlefield missions. n

AEW goes unmanned

BY DAVID DONALD Employing UAVs for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and attack duties has become an everyday part of military operations, but now China is developing a UAV that can undertake the role of airborne early warning. Using a UAV for the role not only offers considerable operational cost savings, but can also release larger and more capable manned AEW platforms for more critical missions.

Being marketed outside China for the first time at IDEX, the JY-300 UAV is a product of the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC, Stand 11-A27), developed by its No. 38 Research Institute. CETC claims that the integrated sensor/airframe UAV is the first of its kind.

At first glance, the JY-300 –

displayed at IDEX in model form – appears to be a conventional medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAV. It is powered by a tail-mounted turboprop engine, has long slender wings with winglets, and V-shaped tail surfaces. However, the model has unusual yellow bands on either side of the forward fuselage and on the inner-wing leading edges. These markings denote the locations of distributed phasedarray antennas for the AEW radar system. The conformal antenna configuration presents less drag than a more traditional podded radar payload, as well as offering the possibility of larger-area antennas.

Believed to be named the Tian Shao (Sky Sentinel), the JY-300 programme was first revealed at the

radar show in Nanjing in June last year, and a large-scale model was shown at Airshow China at Zhuhai in November. According to Chinese internet sources, the prototype made its first flight from Pucheng Neifu airfield in Shaanxi province on 30 September 2018.

JY-300 is a 1,300kg UAV with a 400kg payload capability. A CETC spokesman told the IDEX Show Daily that it has a 12-hour endurance with payload. Operating altitude is believed to be 25,000ft and the vehicle is equipped with datalinks, including optional satcoms, for downlinking radar data to a ground station. The radar system that has been integrated into the airframe offers long-range

detection against air and maritime targets, including low, slow, small targets such as helicopters, missiles and small vessels.

State-owned CETC is China’s largest supplier of radar systems, and has developed a wide range of modern electronically scanned array sensors. At IDEX, the company is also showcasing its JY-400 tethered aerostat radar system, as well as an export version of the KJ-500 AEW aircraft – also being openly marketed for the first time internationally. This system is based on the Shaanxi Y-9 airframe and houses a triangular antenna array mounted in a fixed saucer-shaped radome mounted on struts above the aircraft’s cabin.

The KJ-500 is in production for the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. CETC had earlier supplied the ZDK-03 system to Pakistan, featuring a previous-generation radar in a rotating ‘rotodome’ fairing mounted on a Shaanxi Y-8 airframe. n

Serbian artillery boasts extended range

BY CHRISTOPHER F FOSS Yugoimport – SDPR (Stand 12E05) is displaying a wide range of artillery systems, headed by the NORA B52 155mm/52 calibre self-propelled gun-howitzer, which is based on a 8x8 platform.

The fully enclosed and armour-protected cab is at the front, with the power-operated turret at the rear. The system normally fires over the rear arc and, to provide a more stable firing platform, two hydraulically operated stabilisers are lowered either side to the ground. The weapon is provided with 12 rounds

(projectile and associated charges) in the automatic loader, which can be fired in four minutes. An additional 24 rounds of 155mm ammunition are in reserve.

Maximum range depends on the projectile/charge combination, but firing an extended-range full bore base bleed high-explosive projectile, a maximum range of 42,000m can be achieved. The forward control cab has a roofmounted 12.7mm machine gun for self-defence purposes, as well as banks of electrically operated smoke grenade launchers.

and Yugoimport has developed and completed trials of an upgraded version fitted with a 155mm/45 calibre ordnance, which gives a significant increase in range.

Firing a locally developed highexplosive extended-range full bore (HE ERFB) 155mm projectile, a maximum range of 30,300m can be achieved, while a base bleed HE ERFB M03 projectile increases range to 39,000m.

Yugoimport can upgrade existing M-46 field guns to the latest 155mm/45 calibre standard, or provide kits to enable the end user to upgrade the weapons in their own facilities. n

Based on high-performance web-based technologies, SitaWare Headquarters supports military decision-makers by providing commanders with the tools required to create and manage high-level strategic plans, instructions and reports. Adopting an open architecture, and using recognised international standards for information exchange, the system can effectively aggregate large volumes of information from multiple military and civilian data feeds to provide shared situational awareness through a joint common operational picture.

Already in widespread service with land forces, SitaWare

Headquarters is now finding applications in the maritime arena.

The Defence Forces of Ireland were the first to use SitaWare’s Maritime solution in conjunction with Systematic’s SitaWare suite for their land force and air wing, generating a joint common operational picture for land, sea and air with an environmental overlay.

More recently, the Royal Danish Navy (RDN) has taken SitaWare Headquarters software to sea on board HDMS Thetis, an ocean patrol ship currently acting as the flagship of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1). While RDN vessels have already deployed on multinational missions with SitaWare, the employment of SitaWare Headquarters on Thetis marks the first occasion that the software has been used as the flagship staff-level planning tool for a NATO task group.

The UK Ministry of Defence also included the vehicle in its December Army Warfare Experiment (AWE), further proving its viability as a support vehicle. The US company is also displaying the DAGOR and MRZR Diesel vehicle platforms.

“The MRZR X is a transformative vehicle because it is optionally manned and can fulfil its current mission to move at the speed of manoeuvre with a driver or act as a robotic mule to carry mission equipment and soldiers’ loads,” said vice-president Jed Leonard. “This ability to both drive the vehicle and still have dismounted control of a robotic platform provides great mission capability and operation flexibility.”

The MRZR X is designed for future flexibility, with Modular Robotic Appliqué Kits (M-RAKs) from Applied Research Associates Inc (ARA). It fully integrates the

autonomy systems and optimally places the sensors to safeguard the technology, while keeping the physical and software architecture open for future technology upgrades. The vehicle’s hybrid drivetrain is powerful and reliable, allowing for export power, longer missions, high speeds and silent drive when needed.

The Polaris family of vehicles helps address the need within light infantry and special operations forces for ultra-light, off-road mobility: from the single passenger MV850 all-terrain vehicle, to the two- and four-passenger, lightweight MRZR tactical allterrain vehicle, up to the ultra-light DAGOR, which can carry up to nine warfighters and their gear, for a total payload of up to 1,800kg.

Polaris vehicles also use commercial-off-the-shelf driveline, controls and components to streamline mechanic and operator training, and for simplified operation and maintenance. n

SitaWare Headquarters provides command and control and planning tools for the mine countermeasures (MCM) mission, as well as presenting a comprehensive Recognised Maritime Picture to commanders.

For the purposes of the current deployment, the C4I capability will be provided on a standalone terminal, but Systematic says there is the potential for SitaWare Headquarters to be integrated within a ship’s systems architecture at a later stage.

SNMCMG1 is one of four groups that comprise the core of the maritime component of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force to the NATO Response Forces.

The MCM group is undertaking active mine hunting and disposal operations, notably in the Baltic Sea, where ordnance from the Second World War continues to pose a threat to shipping. n

All-round awareness Ukrainian technology company Limpid Armor (IGG Stand 04C20), which specialises in artificial intelligence, augmented reality and computer vision, is presenting its new Land Platform Modernisation Kit (LPMK) for armoured vehicles.

Limpid Armor is a member of the NATO Science and Technology Organisation Working Group and is developing standardisation of augmented reality for land platforms in combat environments.

Camera modules outside the vehicle provide a 360° view for the crew in real time. Its own software provides recognition of allies and foes, data visualisation, including telemetry of all systems of the combat vehicle, task status, goals, interactive hints, and placement of friendly and hostile units. It can be connected to the fire control system and can receive data from a UAV. Limpid Armor claims to be changing the role of the armoured vehicle on the battlefield, which now senses and is able to process environmental data, thus becoming the information processing centre serving as an information source to bring full situational awareness to the crew and nearby allied forces. n

Naval training support contract awarded Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (Stand 02-B11) has been contracted to provide training support to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case with the US government.

The follow-on task order, awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, was issued against a three-year, single award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

The scope of the contract covers the provision of training-related products and services in a variety of disciplines to the RSNF. Under the contract, Kratos will continue to provide military-focused training and instructional services for air, ground and sea platforms to support the RSNF. This latest award brings the value of awards under the FMS agreement to date to $80 million. n

Shipping forecast

BY RICHARD SCOTT South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (Stand B-036) comes to NAVDEX 2019 poised to buy its local rival Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).

Last month, HHI and the Korea Development Bank (KDB) – which owns a 55.7 per cent stake in DSME – signed a preliminary agreement for the takeover.

KDB confirmed the deal on 12 February after another South Korean shipyard, Samsung Heavy Industries, said it would not enter the bidding for DSME. KDB has agreed to transfer its entire shareholding in DSME to the new joint venture in exchange

for a 7 per cent stake in the new company. “The agreement between Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and Korea Development Bank is a solution for the recovery of the domestic shipbuilding industry,” said HHI in a statement. A definitive sales agreement is expected to be signed in early March.

Commercial shipbuilding represents the bedrock for HHI and DSME, with the two yards having more than 50 per cent of existing worldwide orders for liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers between them. However, the two companies – based in Ulsan and Okpo respectively – have in recent years also emerged as major players in the naval sector. Both

janes.com/idex are involved in new construction for the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN), including the build of KDX-III Batch 2 destroyers (HHI is under contract for the first of class), FFX-II frigates (production being split between the two yards) and KSS-III submarines (the first two being built by DSME, the third by HHI).

DSME was in late 2018 contracted by South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration to build the new ASR-II submarine rescue ship for the RoKN. The two companies have also secured significant export business in the naval sector over recent years. DSME last year delivered RFA Tideforce, the last of four new Tide-class replenishment tankers for the UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary, the logistic support vessel KNM Maud to Norway, and the frigate HTMS Tachin to the Royal Thai Navy.

Meanwhile, HHI is building two frigates for the Philippines Navy under a contract signed in October 2016, with delivery scheduled for 2020 and 2021 respectively. HHI is also building a new ice-capable replenishment ship, to be named HMNZS Aotearoa, for the Royal New Zealand Navy. n

Floating decoy seducts, distracts and confuses With regional navies becoming ever more conscious of the antiship missile threat, IrvinGQ (Stand 05-C02) is pressing the merits of its FDS3 corner reflector decoy system at IDEX. Originally developed by IrvinGQ for the UK Royal Navy (RN), where it entered service in 2006 under the designation Outfit DLF(3b), the FDS3 system deploys an inflatable, fast-erecting corner reflector decoy that can be used to counter anti-ship missile RF seekers in seduction, distraction

and confusion modes. Following the lead of the RN, the US Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy have all subsequently purchased the FDS3 decoy.

According to IrvinGQ, the FDS-3 offers a number of advantages compared with chaff decoys. These include a large and ship-like radar cross-section with consistent

and enduring performance, no requirement for prior threat knowledge, and no interference with own-ship sensors. Most importantly, says the company, the decoy can defeat the chaff discrimination logic employed by many modern missile seekers.

FDS3 units are supplied as a complete decoy launch tube assembly, typically in pairs, and may be standalone or integrated within the ship’s systems. In the event ship’s power is lost, the FDS3 can still be launched mechanically. n

Totally tough and secure smartphone

BY SAM J BASCH For military and civil operators requiring ultra-secure communications, DarkMatter Group (Stand 05-A12) has the solution in the KATIM R01 smartphone, launched this week.

Designed to withstand extreme field conditions, it is the latest in the company’s end-to-end secure communications solutions, which range from devices to back-end services.

smartphone to be dropped, run over and immersed in deep water for 30 minutes. Built-in barometer, temperature and humidity sensors optimise endurance and durability for vibration, dust, altitude and extreme temperatures. In an emergency, it delivers messages sent with GPS co-ordinates, with a dedicated SOS button and touchscreen operated accurately with gloved and wet hands.

Equally tough on the inside, the KATIM R01 is tamper-resistant and has a hardened operating system (OS) with a hardwarebased crypto root of trust.

It is impervious to attackers trying to physically break into the phone, using advanced active physical

and real-time monitoring to instantly detect intrusions and wipe the device to protect user data. DarkMatter’s ShieldMode can be used to securely cut off microphones and cameras during confidential discussions, provided the phone is still powered on and online.

According to Karim Sabbagh, DarkMatter Group’s chief executive, the rugged smartphone was designed for the extreme field conditions experienced by defence and emergency services, as well as the mining, construction, transport and energy sectors.

“We believe in a world where smart and safe mobile security is guaranteed. The KATIM R01 delivers unbreakable security and the same great user experience, no matter where you are. It’s tough, it’s rugged and it’s ready for anything,” Sabbagh said.

Shock-proof cases for sensitive equipment For the safe transportation of sensitive electronic equipment, there are now new sizes of removable shock rack transport cases from US company SKB Cases (Stand 03-B01). The company’s 30in 3RR series is lightweight, shock-proof, watertight, dust-proof and heat and chemical resistant.

The cases are moulded of linear medium-density polyethylene (LMDP) plastic that meets MILSTD-810G standards and includes eight elastomeric shock absorbers.

This allows for a standard payload up to 68kg. An extended payload of up to 136kg can be ordered as an option.

The standard COTS case comes with a front and

rear lid to accommodate rack gear that is longer than 30in and edge castors to allow convenient case transport. The interior rack chassis slides out and is fully removable from the inner rack frame, which allows the user to remove the chassis for integration and maintenance of equipment.

SKB is also displaying its 3i-6018-8B-L long gun case, injection-moulded from ultrahigh-strength polypropylene copolymer resin. This material is specified by the US military for cases and containers and features an automatic ambient pressure equalisation valve to self-regulate for different altitudes. n

PGK pro ramps up

BY CHRISTOPHER F FOSS Northrop Grumman (Stand 03-A04, US Pavilion) has now completed the second production year of its M1156 Precision Guidance Kit (PGK). This was originally developed to meet the requirements of the US Army and Marine Corps, but has also been sold to at least two export customers, Australia and Canada,

Poland’s Advanced Protection System (APS, Stand 06-B16), in partnership with its distributor Anker Sikkerhet AS, has just completed the installation of its Ctrl+Sky system at Sola Airport, Stavanger, Norway.

The Ctrl+Sky 3D radar, mounted on a mast, will monitor the airspace for drones and birds, while the system’s CyView software will automatically inform airport personnel of any unwanted intrusions. The radio frequency (RF) sensors will provide an additional layer of information on possible drone activities. Collected data will be archived and statistics can be retrieved for improved situational awareness and enhanced airport safety management.

for use with their BAE Systems M777 155mm lightweight artillery systems.

All M1156 PGK option 1 (15,525 units) and option 2 (8,001 units) have been delivered ahead of schedule, with production ramping up from 48 to 68 units a day, but at the same time, build time was reduced from 7.41 hours to 5.92 hours per unit and scrap was reduced by 24 per cent.

The US Army uses its M1156 PGK with 155mm M795 and M549A1 artillery projectiles fired from 155mm/39 calibre artillery systems, but it can also be fitted to 155mm artillery projectiles fired from 155mm/52 calibre artillery systems, such as the German PzH 2000.

The company has also confirmed that it delivered a batch of XM913 50mm Bushmaster dual-feed cannon in 2018, which has been developed in co-operation with the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Centre, and will fire a family of 50 x 318mm ammunition. The XM913 will make its first public appearance during its Bushmaster User Conference to take place in Arizona, USA, in April 2019.

Furthermore, Northrop Grumman has also confirmed that it is developing a new proximity fuzed air-bursting 30 x 113mm ammunition for use with its M230 series of cannon. This new development will use a sensor to identify potential targets prior to bursting.

Drones neutralised the company that owns and manages Norway’s airports. An eight-year contract was awarded and Stavanger was chosen to be the first airport to deploy the system.

The military-grade counter-drone system has been sold to military, law enforcement and security

THE DIGITAL DIVIDEND Raytheon’s radars span the frequency spectrum and handle a wide range of missions, including air traffic control at major airports, surveillance and missile defense. But the technology behind these sensors is now being connected in new ways.

“You might have an antenna that’s X-band and an antenna that’s S-band, but if you go behind that, now you have a software architecture and a digital back end that’s near-identical,” Ferraro said.

Fusing radar and vision Chinese company Nanoradar, a subsidiary of Novasky (Stand 11-A03, China Pavilion) is proposing radar and visual fusion as a new security technology.

Existing security systems based on video can easily be affected by the environment and weather, such as rain and snow. These can also trigger false alarms. By contrast, millimetre wave (MMW) radar detects by transmitting and receiving high-frequency electromagnetic waves, able to penetrate fog, smoke and dust. However, MMW radar it is unable to obtain a clear image of the target, making it impossible to confirm the fine features of an intruder.

Nanoradar says by combining these technologies, full use is made of their respective advantages, to give full play to their strengths. ■

Stream C goes vertical

BY DAVID DONALD Estonia’s Threod Systems (Stand 07-C10, Estonian Pavilion) is showing the latest version of its Stream C UAV for the first time, which has been adapted to offer a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability through the addition of four electric rotors located on booms that are mounted on the wings. It had earlier created a VTOL version of its Eos mini-UAV, and has applied the same concept to the larger 30kg Stream C. The company has developed its own autopilot algorithms to

cater for vertical flight and for the transition between wingborne and rotor-borne flight.

The VTOL concept increases the UAV’s versatility, allowing it to be used from confined spaces and in difficult terrain such as mountains and forests, as well as permitting the UAV to operate from ship decks.

Utilising the same body and wings as the catapult-launched, parachute-recovered version, the Stream C VTOL has an increased maximum take-off weight of 45kg. The original inverted-Vee tail surfaces have been replaced by a conventional Vee, or butterfly,

BY SAM J BASCH Having just opened a large new manufacturing plant in Thailand, known as Tyron Rubber Ltd, Tyron Runflat (Stand 07-C20) based in Loughborough, UK, can now extend its current production capability for all-terrain rubber (ATR) run-flat systems by 14,000 units per annum.

“This new facility allows us to reduce the supply chain distances and hence our carbon footprint, as we are able to source natural rubber, the staple of our product, from local suppliers,” said Tony Glazebrook, managing director of Tyron Rubber and inventor of the Tyron ATR run-flat.

Given rubber’s inherent malleability, the beadlock can be ‘over-manufactured’ to overcome tyre and wheel manufacturing tolerances. During installation, rubber guarantees the tyre beads are firmly secured against the wheel flanges, thus ensuring beadlock.

Rubber also absorbs shocks from potholes and curb strike.

At the same time, it drastically reduces the vibration and stresses transmitted to the wheels and drive train, allowing vehicle handling and occupant comfort to be maintained, even in the event of a catastrophic puncture.

34 Michigan on show Eight defence-related companies from the US state of Michigan are exhibiting at IDEX with the state’s marketing arm and business development advocate.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC, Stand 03-A34) is hosting the companies as part of the state’s aim of growing defence and homeland security business through the Michigan Defense Center, which liaises between the defence industry, academia, federal government and defence agencies.

The eight companies are: AAR Mobility Systems from Cadillac, which produces mobility products in support of military and disaster relief operations; Cignys (Saginaw), which manufactures ground support equipment, jacks, mobilisers, electrical enclosures and build-toprint contract machining; MCM Learning (Warren), which delivers training products and services, including technical manuals; Mistequay Group (Saginaw), which specialises in customs engineering in sectors such as aerospace ballscrews and drivelines; Oasis Advanced Engineering (Auburn Hills), which is engaged in R&D activities, embedded electronics and optical devices; Riveer Environmental (South Haven), which designs closed-loop wash systems for aircraft and vehicles; Thunder Technologies (Rochester Hills), which provides manufacturing and design of hose and expansion joints; and VectorRock (Ann Arbor), which provides cybersecurity consultation and protection. n

Advanced soldier weapons training

BY DAVID DONALD Meggitt Training Systems is a US-based division of the UKheadquartered Meggitt plc. The division specialises in integrated live-fire and virtual weapons training, and has recently expanded with the acquisition of FATS and Caswell technologies. At IDEX, the division is displaying some of its training solutions.

At its exhibit in the US Pavilion (Stand 02-B31), Meggitt is showing a range of live-fire training products, such as a dual pop-up Turner target. This system is a 360° turning target that can display friend or foe silhouettes and incorporates LOMAH (location of miss and hit) technology. The XWT ProImage video projector and camera system is also on display. This attaches to the

janes.com/idex Meggitt XWT target carrier and can be transported downrange to project various target images on to white paper or cardboard targets.

Finally, Meggitt’s GranTrap is being shown. This is a soft media bullet trap for granulated rubber bullets, capturing them mostly intact. As well as minimising impact noise, the GranTrap averts the dangers of back-splatter and ricochet.

Meggitt is also exhibiting as part of the International Golden Group display (Stand 04-C20), where the FATS 100MIL simulation training system (pictured) is being highlighted. Selected by the US Army and Marine Corps, and

by Australia and the UK, FATS 100MIL introduces features such as advanced 3D game engine marksmanship, enhanced diagnostics with intelligent automatic coaching, and collective training. The system on show at IDEX is complemented by a selection of wireless BlueFire and convertible BlueRail weapons, including M4 carbine, AK-47 rifle, Glock G17 pistol and an 81mm mortar. n

Grenades launched from light UAVs

BY SAM J BASCH UAE-based International Golden Group (IGG, Stand 04-C20), in conjunction with the South African defence company Rippel Effect Systems, has developed a battlefield solution to safely and accurately launch 40mm grenades from a light UAV. According to IGG deputy executive officer Khalifa Al Balooshi, its long-standing collaboration with Rippel Effect has led them to collaboration on the development and manufacture of the innovative 40mm DLP3 (pictured) and DLP6 drone launcher platform, with three and six fixed barrels respectively.

The 40mm drone-mounted multi-

shot grenade launcher (MGL) provides small tactical teams with the ability to accurately engage out-of-sight targets.

“This configuration is a sensible adaptation from Rippel’s proven and successful flagship 40mm handheld launcher, designed for a specifically identified tactical

requirement,” he explained.

“Mounted vertically underneath the drone, and fitted with an electronic trigger mechanism, the DLP3 or DLP6 enables the device to be fired with ease, accurately and safely, with maximum effect on the target. The DLP3 or DLP6 can be mounted on various drone platforms.”

Rippel Effect undertook the design and development of the 40mm launcher, which IGG will then integrate and commission in its UAE facilities.

Each of the removable barrels has one round of 40x46mm low velocity or less-lethal ammunition and can be fired individually, in sequence or together. n

‫تدشين آلية (عجبان) أول مركبة تكتيكية عسكرية من إنتاج (نمر )‬ ‫أبوظـ ب يـ� – النـ شـرة اليوميــة‪ :‬دشــن صاحــب الســمو ال�شــيخ محمــد بــن زايــد‬ ‫آل هنيــان‪ ،‬ويل عهــد أبوظبـي انئــب القائــد األعــى للق ـوات املســلحة‪ ،‬آليــة‬ ‫«جعبــان» املدرعــة ‪ A447‬الــي تنتجهــا رشكــة «منــر» اإلماراتيــة التابعــة لرشكــة‬ ‫الامــارات للصناعــات العســكرية»إديك»‪.‬‬ ‫تعــد آليــة جعبــان املدرعــة اجلديــدة متعــددة املهام‪ ،‬نســخة مطورة من سلســة‬ ‫«آليــات جعبــان» الــي مصمــت لتأديــة مجموعــة واســعة مــن األدوار العســكرية‬ ‫املتخصصــة مبــا يوفــر م�ســتوايت عاليــة مــن القــدرة عــى البقــاء واحلركــة والقــوة‬ ‫النارية‪.‬وتعــرف مســوه عــى قــدرات آليــة جعبــان اجلديــدة الــي تصنــف مكركبــة‬ ‫تكتيكيــة عســكرية‪ ،‬تقــل �ســبعة أف ـراد وتمتــز باكبينــة مدرعــة عاليــة التكويــن‪،‬‬

‫ومصممــة لوحــدات خمتلفــة‪ ،‬مثــل فــرق الا�ســتجابة التكتيكيــة‪ ،‬وحــرس احلــدود‬ ‫والا�ســتطالع وماكحفــة المتــرد والقـوات اخلاصــة‪ ،‬فيما ميكــن تزويدهــا بنوعيــات‬ ‫متعــددة مــن األســلحة اخلفيفــة‪ ،‬كــا يعمــل نظــام اإلطــارات ادلامعــة لقــدرة اآلليــة‬ ‫للمســر أكــر مــن ‪ 100‬كيلــو مــر يف حــال إصابهتــا‪ ،‬ومتتــك خـزان وقــود جمهـزاً‬ ‫بنظــام معاجلــة ذاتيــة عنــد حــدوث أي ثقــب‪ .‬وأعــرب مســوه عــن ســعادته‬ ‫برؤيــة الصناعــات الوطنيــة‪ ،‬ويه تقــدم آليــات عســكرية متطــورة ومصممــة‬ ‫لألحــداث اكفــة‪ ،‬وجمهــزة بأحــدث التقنيــات املتقدمــة‪ ،‬مشـراً إىل أمهيــة مواصــة‬ ‫البحــث والتحديــث والتطويــر والا�ســتفادة مــن العلــوم والتجــارب املتقدمــة‬ ‫لتعزيــز خياراتنــا يف تنويــع الصناعــة العســكرية الوطنيــة‪.‬‬

‫اختبــارات التوافــق الكهرومغناطيــي هــو إجنــاز هــام يف جمــال تمنيــة‬ ‫قدراتنــا مــن أجــل ضــان أن اكفــة منتجاتنــا توافــق أعــى املعايــر‬ ‫العســكرية»‪.‬‬ ‫وأضــاف‪« :‬اليــوم منــر لل�ســيارات تؤكــد دورهــا القيــادي واملبــادر‬ ‫يف جمــال صناعــة املركبــات العســكرية يف منطقــة الــرق األوســط‬ ‫وشــال أفريقيــا‪ ،‬ومــا زال دلينــا املزيــد مــن املشــاريع والاســتامثرات‬ ‫امل�ســتقبلية اخلاصــة ابملعــدات البالســتية ورفــع قــدرات اإلنتــاج‬ ‫احملــي لتتوافــق مــع معايــر اتفاقيــة الناتــو ‪NATO STANAG‬‬ ‫‪ 4569‬الــي حــددت أفضــل املعايــر ادلفاعيــة يف جمــال صناعــة‬ ‫اآلليــات العســكرية»‪.‬‬ ‫وأوحض أن الغرفــة اجلديــدة بإماكهنــا «إجــراء اختبــارات‬ ‫الانبعــااثت املشــعة عــى املركبــات العســكرية ذات العجــات‬ ‫بــوزن أقــى يصــل إىل ‪ 30‬طنــاً‪ ،‬ووزن أقــى لإلطــار يصــل‬

‫ومعــدات لصــاحل القــوات اجلويــة بقميــة ‪ 12‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة‬ ‫إنرتان�شــيوانل جــودلن جــروب لتوريــد ذخائــر خفيفــة لصــاحل القـوات‬ ‫املســلحة بقميــة ‪ 407.770‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬فضــ ًا عــن التعاقــد مــع‬ ‫رشكــة محمــد عبدالرمحــن لتقــدمي خدمــات الصيانــة والعمــرة وتوفــر‬ ‫قطــع الغيــار واملــواد امل�ســهلكة إضافــة إىل خدمــات قطــر املركبــات‬ ‫(آليــات اكتربلــر) لصــاحل قيــادة الصيانــة العامــة بقميــة ‪ 7‬ماليــن درمه‪.‬‬ ‫وجــرى التعاقــد أيضــا مــع رشكــة «الصحـراء» لتقــدمي خدمــات التوصيــل‬ ‫والقطــر للمــواد واآلليــات واملعــدات لصــاحل قيــادة ســاح المتويــن‬ ‫والنقــل بقميــة ‪ 45‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة «الطيــف» لــراء ذخائــر‬ ‫خفيفــة ومتوســطة لصــاحل قيــادة ســاح المتويــن والنقــل بقميــة ‪4.295‬‬ ‫مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة ‪ EMARINE‬لتقــدمي خدمــات الاتصــاالت‬ ‫(خــط الــراين) لصــاحل ســاح اإلشــارة بقميــة ‪ 6.830‬مليــون درمه‪.‬‬ ‫كــا تضمنــت صفقــات اليــوم الثــاين التعاقــد مــع رشكــة «اإلمــارات‬ ‫لتكنولوجيــا ادلفــاع» لتقــدمي خدمــات اإل�ســناد الفــي لصيانــة وإصــاح‬

‫اآلليــات وتوريــد قطــع الغيــار واملدافــع مجليــع آليــات الق ـوات املســلحة‬ ‫لصــاحل قيــادة الصيانــة العامــة بقميــة ‪ 69‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة ‪Site‬‬ ‫‪ Technology‬لتقــدمي صيانــة أنظمــة أمنيــة و�شــباكت احلاســب اآليل‬ ‫لصــاحل وحــدات القـوات املســلحة بقميــة ‪ 1.500‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬وأاكدمييــة‬ ‫ربــدان إلنشــاء مركــز املؤهــات العســكرية لصــاحل مديريــة القــوى‬ ‫البرشيــة بقميــة ‪ 140‬مليــون درمه‪ .‬ومت التعاقــد أيضــا مــع رشكــة «ثــري‬ ‫دامينشــز» ملراكــز اللياقــة البدنيــة لصــاحل وحــدات الق ـوات املســلحة‬ ‫بقميــة ‪ 15.016‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة «كونكــورد ميديــال ويســت»‬ ‫لتقــدمي خدمــات ومعاجلــة النفــاايت الطبيــة لصــاحل اخلدمــات الطبيــة‬ ‫بقميــة ‪ 2.394‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة «إجنــازات» لتوفــر خدمــات‬ ‫الاتصــاالت وصيانــة الربامــج واألهجــزة اإللكرتونيــة لصــاحل وحــدات‬ ‫القــوات املســلحة بقميــة ‪ 395‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬إىل جانــب التعاقــد مــع‬ ‫رشكــة «أوجا�ســتا ويســت خلدمــات الط ـران» لنظــام البــث املبــارش‬ ‫لصــاحل قيــادة الط ـران املشــرك بقميــة ‪ 7.100‬مليــون درمه‪ ،‬ورشكــة‬ ‫«دروع» لدلفــاع لـراء األســلحة واذلخائــر اخلفيفــة واملتوســطة لصــاحل‬ ‫وحــدات القــوات املســلحة بقميــة ‪ 14.466‬مليــون درمه‪.‬‬

‫اتفاقية تعاون عسكري بين شركة ليوناردو ومجموعة انترناشيونال جولدن جروب‬ ‫أبوظــب ي – أمحــد املج ايــدة‪ :‬أعلنــت رشكــة‬ ‫ليــوانردو دي آر اس الرائــدة يف جمــال الابتــار‬ ‫التكنولــويج واملــورد الرئيــس للمنتجــات واخلدمــات‬ ‫املتاكمــة ابلــوالايت املتحــدة األمريكيــة يف اجملــال‬ ‫العســكري‪ ،‬عــن توقيــع اتفاقيــة تعــاون مــع مجموعــة‬ ‫انرتان�شــيوانل جــودلن جــروب «آي يج يج»‬ ‫املتخصصــة يف جمــال ا�ســترياد وتصديــر املنتجــات‬ ‫العســكرية الاماراتيــة‪ ،‬وذكل دلمع مشــاريع الق ـوات‬ ‫املســلحة اإلماراتيــة‪ .‬وأكــد بيــل جــواين ‪ ،‬انئــب‬ ‫الرئيــس واملديــر العــام أن رشكــة ليــوانردو دي آر‬ ‫اس �ســتقوم بإنشــاء مركــز متطــور مبجمــع آي يج‬ ‫يج الصناعــي لتوفــر ادلمع الفــي والتقــي للق ـوات‬ ‫املســلحة اإلماراتيــة‪ ،‬وتشــمل توظيــف وتدريــب‬ ‫املواطنــن اإلماراتيــن لشــغل مناصــب يف قطــاع‬ ‫التصنيــع التكنولــويج‪.‬‬
