BOULDER HISTORY

This is how it all began.

Boulder began as a mining camp on what would become known as Boulder Creek. In 1858, a small group of prospectors, led by Thomas Aikins, reached Boulder Canyon. Due to the sandstone cliffs, they called their site Red Rocks. They made friendly contact with the Niwot and Arapahoe tribes, while the Cheyenne’s, Utes, Kiowas, Comanches, and Sioux also frequently passed through the area.

When gold was discovered at Gold Run in 1859, Boulder City Town Company was put into motion. Organized in 1859, the company was made up by sixty shareholders and A.A. Brookfield, the first president for the company. The amount of rocks that had to be cleared away before settlers could build their homes, gave way to the name of the city – Boulder. It was appointed as the county seat in 1867.

With Native American revolts and the decrease of gold being found, there came hard years for the new settlers. Within a few years, the city would gain two railroads and a university and was brought in under the Territorial Government. The Colorado Central Railroad and Denver-Boulder Valley Railroad reaching Boulder meant more opportunities for residents, new and old. The founders began a tree-planting plan, which also goes to show the city’s long dedication to environmental care.

TESTIMONIALS FOR JANET

Janet really takes the time to learn what her clients like, even when they don’t realize it! And even though I looked over what seemed like 20 houses, she always had something else waiting. I’m in love with the house she helped me find. Kimberlee O.

Janet is very knowledgeable as well as thorough and reliable—essential qualities when timing is critical. I always recommend her to friends and customers. I trust her judgement and she truly cares about her clients.

–Kathy K.

I have purchased multiple investment properties with Janet. She is responsive, understood what we were looking for, and most importantly was able to get units to contract, helped with the due diligence, and finally closed the transactions. Highly recommended. –Bill S.

Janet was so very helpful! She introduced us to an area where we could build a home and stayed in touch with us through the whole process. Since we were living far away, she regularly checked on our home and sent us progress reports. She is knowledgeable, hard-working, thorough, and professional. We would recommend her highly to anyone! –Gilbert

We were first time home buyers and Janet was recommended by a friend. We couldn’t imagine doing it without her. She made us feel comfortable the whole way through and we found a great home at a great price. –Jim H.

Janet is very easy to talk to and work with. We saw over 150 houses before we bought our house. She was very patient along the way. No push! Very happy with her service.

–Sunmi S.

I used Janet for the first time way back in 2008 when I bought my first house. She has continued to be my agent since and I have referred multiple people her way because she is the best. Wouldn’t buy a house from anyone else in Colorado.
