1. Residential Blocks in Biel/Bienne
The site in Biel is near the train station and the lake,in the area between the old town Nidau and the old city center of Biel. For the Strategy Plan, I try to creat a main street in the middle which link the lake to the castle as the main entrance for the residents. The shifting and feedback of the blocks creat a more lose and domestic feeling. And in the two sides, by the extension of the existing canal, all the blocks are facing a waterfront situation which have different characters- north part the river side is more nature and relaxing, south part the canal side is more artificial and city feeling. In btween the blocks, the secondary street links the main road to the waterfront space which bring a narrowness as transition.

2. Via Chengxian Community
As the site is located near the campus and buildings are part of extension of university, by introducing the public function like exhibition and confrence hall, I attempts to built a community open to the city environment. Considering the east gate of campus, a extended road is placed in the north, with existing trees which leads the people to the conserved historic building. In the middle a continual shifting piazza links the road to the canal, to provide a public outdoor space for campus activities. The road in the south undertakes the supplement functions. The residential buildings are in three types for different groups: foreign students, young faculty and foreign faculty. Felixible walls are be used for the foreign faculty to fit the different needs. The common space for residential is in the 1st floor, which has a visual connoction to the public and at the same time keep the privacy for accessibility.

2.1 A Space of Textile
This project is a one week training, to create a space with a given fabric. In my fabric, there are mainly two layers of regular geometric patterns and irregular sequins. Both materials are shiny under the light. The texture brings out a solemn yet lively sense. To express this characters, I used the fabric as ceiling cover in a temporary pavilion. By hanging, the fabric curves and scatters the light. Black gauze make rhythm and give a comprison - as by time changing, the light come from different side, the darkness and brightness of thess two materials will inverse. The gesture of hanging reacts to people's behavior and perception.

2.2 Jakob Schlaepfer Textiles in St. Gallen
The project is to build a new headquarter for Jakob Schlaepfer Textiles. The company’s demand is in between an office, a creative laboratory and an light industrial building. The project is located suburban on a grass slope, by climbing up, a overview of city in the valley could be gained. To emphasis this experience and preserve the natural landscape, I try to align the building at the boundary of the slope. The volumn is divided into a group of small boxes, and by shifting, the boxes get different depth into the greenness. In a way, every box has two spaces - an open spaces upper linked with each other, and underneath a storage space as service. The program is arranged by function demand, work as groups. For the material and construction, client’s preference of the image is a low-key and cosy appearance, which contains the spirit of contemporary. To emphasize this layered space, wooden structure is chosen. The thin wooden columes divide the space and indicate the link in between. The exterior of wood is painted into black, to get the pre-aging, and weaken the wooden characters.

3. Courtyard House in District Meiyuan
This project is located in the historical district built around 1920s in Nanjing. Site is embraced on three sides by narrow roads. Neighbors are familiar to each other. The chinese traditional ideal of living is based on Taoism, living in the city and keep the inner indenpendence. Which suppose home is a place to escape from the social issues to face the nature and yourself. So the start point of this design is the program of three closed inner courtyard which present three topics as water, tree and activity. Rooms are separated to face the courtyard which gives each room different character. Transition space is linea extended in the middle to provide a dynamic expierence of it.

4. Floating Theater on River Spree
Theater is a place to create illusion for people to withdraw from ordinary lives, while River gives people a moment to observe the city from distance. To integrate the river scenery as background of theater performance, Floating Islands transforms the theatre into a series of autonomous elements, which are reconfigurable according to location and program. Flexibility of the Islands allows the theatre to be transportable along the river. As Berlin is a city that inspires young artists to realize their dreams. In order to accommodate new types of contemporary, interdisciplinary performances and give artists more freedom for their creations, we proposes to bring endless possibilities to the audience and the stage, the islands' roles can constantly be reversed and reinvented by choreographing the stage and its relationship with the city. Above the water, Floating Islands provides an open, transparent space for performance; beneath the water, it becomes an enclosed and intimate place for private and back-stage functions.

5. Bamboo Raft Factory in Wuyi Moutain
This project is located in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area where the local traditional craftsmanship of bamboo rafts is well-known. Originally, the traditional mode of bamboo raft production is in the small family workshop, which has some problems like crowded working environment , outdated facilities and detrimentally dispersed fire operations. Therefore, the clients hope to integrate these small workshops into a bamboo raft factory. Preserve the traditional crafts, and at the same time improve the working environment and enhance emission control in a modern industrial way. The traditional method to deal with the bamboo are in 3 steps: Outdoor Drying - Indoor Storage - Open Flames Manufacture. So functionally we defined the building into four part: Outdoor Area, Storage Building, Workshop, the Dormitory & Office. The length of single bamboo is around 9m which gives the building dimension. As it's a low cost project and the local temprature is above 20 degree all the year round, for construction and meteriality, we choose the concrete bricks. Which is good at fire prevention for the workshop, and by changing the construction direction, it also works for the ventilation.
