The general ruin stalks us even as we erect new monuments to hope and optimism. The images here reflect an acknowledgement of, even a perverse fondness for, the fertile allure of decay, for the march of time, its hurtling arrow dragging all in its wake. Times tide. Metallic surfaces, scarred by gesture and the decay of solvents, their fracture the ultimate destination of all matter, allude obliquely to modernist abstract precepts that once wore their formal poise elegantly and their idealism heavily. Now modernism is in ruins, its bones picked over for casual content, much as the meandering shoe-gazer searches the landscape for a poetics of anecdotal incident.
