Harutoma Otori - An Editorial Emperor Meiji saved our civilization from a catastrophic destruction over 10 years ago. In honor of this event, The Meiji Restoration has been very kind to us over the years. It evolved society, and erased old mannerisms of society that were quite unpleasant. To thank for the Restoration, we have our Emperor Meiji. Through his will, we have a great society today. His thoughts and opinions have shaped Japan so that it is a great country worthy of its name. Many many years ago, the
westerners came here and we were but a barbaric culture that could barely keep itself together. But now we’re a powerful nation to be reckoned with. A nation that’s power should not be underestimated. As this is all thanks to Emperor Meiji, should there not 1800-S-A-M-U-R-A-I be a holiday on his day of birth? Need a hand dealing with some pesky bandits? Or better yet, a sword? Then our 1800 Dial a Samurai will blow you away, or knock you completely over. Depends on your choice of service.

Originally, it was believed that the American’s banking plan failed due to the vast amount of economic strain on Japan at the time. After the American model failed to show any results, the Japanese government switched to an European model. The European model had surprising results, and combined with the new land tax, it promoted Japan into a period of economic growth. This period of economic growth brought about the many things that Japan is thankful for everyday. For example the Zaibatsu companies, and modern communication. If it wasn’t for the European model of

banking, it is safe to say that Japan would be in serious economic strife. Millions in debt, and no ways of escape.

BALLROOM DANCING Kazuki Nazako Ballroom Dancing is an exciting new activity brought in from the west by Japanese tourists. Ever since the Charter Oath, new knowledge has been sought out from across the world. The one in focus today, is Ballroom Dancing. Ballroom Dancing is an exotic activity from the west. It involves dancing with a partner accompanying music. Even though it is relatively new, a competition is being held in Tokyo, for all to compete. Many are welcome, and the prize is 10,000 yen.
