UPPER LAFAYETTE ON THE MOVE Letter from President: David Welch This is a great and exciting time for the Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation. The board and other interested leaders dedicated most of a day to examining the progress we have made as an organization since our inception and planning a strategy to take us to the next level and beyond. Upcoming Events Upper Lafayette Success Stories January 16, 2013, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm Acadian Companies 2916 N. University Upper Lafayette Philanthropist of the Year March 19, 2013, 11:30 a.m. Focus on Oil and Gas Industry

Turning to past achievements, they are quite impressive. When we were formed no one had ever even heard of Upper Lafayette and now it is practically a household name. The Upper Lafayette Newsletter has brought us into the spotlight. The Lafayette On The Move Television show has featured community leaders focused on Upper Lafayette, and David Welch the numerous special events, membership meetings and media touch Stone Energy Corporation points have literally put Upper Lafayette on the map. We can all be very grateful to our founders for their vision and especially for our executive director, Jan Swift, who accomplished this mostly on her own. Looking forward, the future of our organization looks very bright indeed. We now have a presence and Jan is now joined by Jennifer Thompson who doubles our staff and will enable Jan to leverage her skills to an even greater degree. Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation has also just moved into the LEDA offices which will expose us to the important work they are doing and provide us with new resources. We are already rapidly moving to the next level.

Strategically, we are focused on our mission, which is to facilitate the creation of economic development in Upper Lafayette. Our key areas of focus for economic development are infrastructure, member promotion and education. We are already in high gear on member promotion and are presently developing an infrastructure development plan. On the education front, Upper Lafayette is a member of the Lafayette Public Education Stakeholders Committee which brings many nonprofit citizens groups together to support 100 percent of our students entering school and 100 percent of them coming out with either job skills or prepared for higher education. Already LaPESC has accomplished much and our high school graduation rate is rising It is an honor to be serving on your board and thank you in advance for your contributions of time, effort and money that are so vital to Upper Lafayette.
