TOKYO Quilt Festival 2019

QUILT CREATED BY: SUZUKO KOSEKI

The world's largest quilt festival include about 400 pieces of exhibition of contestant's best creation, various workshops for beginners to advanced, and famous artists gallery. In addition to that there are many side shops about sewing.

Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Kyoto is one of Japan's ancient capitals that has a rich historical culture and tradition in their 1,200-year history. This museum exhibits about 500 artifacts, all created by traditional craftmen. There are kimonos, obi sashes, lacquerware and ceramics.

Kyoto Shibori Museum

Sashiko Museum

You can learn everything about Shibori in the museum. Not only Japanese, but other countries' Shibori as well. Enjoy their exhibitions and make your own Shibori art.

Sashiko, "little stabs", is a Japanese traditional form of decorative reinforcement. This museum is dedicated to modern sashiko artist Akie Sakamoto. The museum itself is very valuable to see. An old house build over 200 years ago was moved to location and remodeled.

Kubota Itchiku Museum Yuzawaya Yuzawaya is a large chain craft store located in all over Japan. With convenient locations, reasonable prices, and item variations, it is very popular among craft lovers.

Kubota Itchiku was a Japanese textile artist who devoted his life in recreating Tsujigahana, a fabric dyeing technique from 15th century. Since that technique was forgotten, he revived the lost art and modernized it at the age of 60. Most of his beautifu crafted kimonos are exhibited in the museum overlooking a stunning Japanese garden.
