Lillian Anderson Arboretum & Oshtemo Township Park
A
Lillian Anderson Arboretum Several families worked the land between the early-19th and mid-20th centuries. Lillian Anderson, a K graduate, donated approximately 100 acres of her family’s farm to the College in 1982. In 2000, thanks to the generous f inancial assistance of Dr. and Mrs. H. Lewis Batts, the College added 31 acres of land along the eastern boundary of the original Anderson property. The Arboretum was established in 1998 as a resource for the Kalamazoo College community, Kalamazoo-area residents, and visitors to the area and now encompasses 140 acres.
Oshtemo Township Park Located behind the Township Hall at 7275 West Main Street, Oshtemo Township Park is a great place to take a walk, play, or gather with f riends. The park features a playground, paved loop trail, accessible restrooms, two picnic shelters, tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts, a wiffleball f ield, and an 18-hole disc golf course. The forested area of the park, with rolling hills and an overlook deck, features a network of unpaved walking trails and is popular for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
