Kalamazoo Education The Kalamazoo Promise The Kalamazoo Promise is designed to provide higher education opportunities to students who attend Kalamazoo Public Schools. The vision of the Promise is to elevate the quality of life for each resident by investing in Kalamazoo’s youth to motivate students to invest in their future. The scholarship is for all graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools, who have been enrolled in at least 9th grade to 12th grade in the Kalamazoo Public School system. The Promise will cover students tuition costs for any public university or college in the State of Michigan. The promise will cover up to 100 percent of the students’ tuition costs. The Promise was expanded to cover a portion of the tuition for schools belonging to the Michigan Colleges Alliance. The tuition not covered by the Promise will be covered by the schools themselves. The scholarship amount for each student is based on each students length of attendance in the Kalamazoo Public School system. Students who have been enrolled from Kindergarten to 12th grade will have 100 percent of their tuition covered. Students have 10 years after graduation to take advantage of the Kalamazoo Promise.
