She has named her father, Jim Eichman, as her most influential person. “In everything my father does, he inspires me with his wisdom, compassion, and support. My father not only demonstrates, but also instills dedication and selflessness through his work, friendships, and parenthood. I hope to, one day, emulate his virtues to influence someone, as my father has done to me. For that, I am blessed to count on my father as my motivator, cheerleader, and role model.”

Ellie Voetberg Ellie is a Portage Central High School graduate
and will attend Oakland University. She has named her coach, Nick Hosler, as her most influential person.
“Nick has coached me for 6 years and has impacted my running career immensely. He helped me discover how much I love to run, and it was because of him that I realized running was something I could be good at.”

“My mom lived her life with grace, strength, and love. She always stayed positive and maintained endless leadership skills throughout her lifetime. While I lost her shortly before my senior year, her memory lives on and continues to inspire me every day.”

Rotary Scholarship Recipients
George R. Laure Scholarship Winner Allison Wolf
The George R. Laure Scholarship was established in 2004 by the Portage Rotary Club to honor Mr. Laure for his many years of devotion to Rotary and its principles. It is to be awarded to any eligible scholarship applicant, with a priority being given to an applicant expressing an interest in a career in nursing (medicine) and attending an area Michigan College to pursue that career.
Kenneth D. Schuring Scholarship Winner Carly Dirksen
The Kenneth D. Schuring Scholarship was established in 2008 by the Portage Rotary Club to honor Mr. Schuring who was a past president of the Rotary Club and gave significant time, talent and treasure, not only to Rotary, but also to the entire Portage Community and its many charitable organizations. It is to be awarded to any eligible scholarship applicant, with a priority being given to community service.
Smith/Fletcher Scholarship Winner Ellie Voetberg & Luke Leto
Named in honor of longtime Portage Central teacher Jean Smith and parent Bob Fletcher for their significant contributions to students in the areas of athletics. The Smith/Fletcher Award is awarded to the most outstanding male and female athletes at Portage Central High School.
Walker/Mulay Scholarship Winner Elise Eichman & Katherine Lindsay
Named in honor of longtime Portage Central teachers Bob Walker and Kathy Mulay for their significant contributions to students in the areas of student leadership and the performing arts. The Walker/Mulay Award is awarded to the most outstanding student activity leaders at Portage Central High School.
