2011 KC Metro High School 6 v 6 Summer Soccer League Rules Good afternoon, everyone. As the contact person for your team, you are responsible for relaying the following information to the other members of your team. Please note the new facility hosting the league! The Kansas City Metro High School 6 vs. 6 Summer Soccer League will be played at the Fountain Bluff Soccer Complex on Wednesday and Sunday nights in June. (Directions and a link to the complex website are noted below.) This complex has great fields and plenty of parking! In the event of a rain out, the league coordinators will get in touch with team contact persons as soon as possible via e-mail, telephone, and/text. Players and parents can also call the rainout line and hear a recorded message. The rainout line number is 816.439.4495. The team contacts will then be responsible for informing their various team members about the cancellation and the subsequent make up date(s). Rainouts will be played on the immediate Thursday following a rainout. Game times, opponents, and field numbers will be the same. Games will start promptly at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 on Sundays and at 6:00 and 7:00 on Wednesdays. Teams must have a minimum of 4 rostered players on hand at the scheduled start time in order to play. If a team does not have a minimum of 4 players at the scheduled start time, that team will forfeit the match. A team that forfeits more than twice will not be invited back to the league. If you foresee a conflict, contact Mike Wickenhauser or Chris Lawson as soon as possible. Teams travel from all over the metro area to participate, including Maryville, and common courtesy is valued and appreciated. Note: Rosters cannot be changed after June 12th. If a player who is not on a team’s roster participates in any match, the team with the non-rostered player will forfeit that match. Games will consist of two 25 minute halves. There will be a five minute half time for each match. There is no mercy rule. Each game will be played in its entirety, regardless of lopsided scores. The goal is to get better, and players need to play to get better. Ties: If the game is tied at the end of the second half, all games will be decided by penalty kicks. Captains/contact persons are responsible for reporting all final scores to onsite coordinators at the conclusion of each game... win or lose. During these matches, all High School rules apply with the following exceptions: 1.) “Throw ins” will be kicked back into play instead of thrown back into play. (Players cannot score directly on these “kick ins” just as they cannot score directly on goal kicks and kick offs.) 2.) Substitutions can be made by any team on any “throw in,” goal kick, corner kick, or kick off. 3.) The game will have a running 25 minute clock for each half. 4.) A wall to defend a re-start must be at least five yards away. 5.) Scores must be called out after each goal, and the home team is responsible for keeping the score. Any disputes will be resolved by the onsite coordinator, usually resulting in a tie. 6.) A foul cannot be challenged. If a foul is called, please respect the opponent’s call and play from there. All fouls will be direct kicks (one touch). If any foul occurs in the box, regardless of type, it is an automatic penalty kick. 7.) All penalty kicks are taken at the center of the penalty box. (12 yards from goal) 8.) There is no offsides. In adherence to the league rules and for the safety and well being of all participants, all players are required to wear shin guards. Metal braces are not allowed, and casts must be properly covered with foam.
Each player must have the requisite jersey color on while he/she is on the field. **(All teams should bring an additional jersey color for each member of their team. In the event that two teams have the same jersey color, the away team will be asked to wear their alternate jerseys.) Each team must also bring two game balls for each match. (The three game balls not in use will be placed behind the goals to maintain the speed of play when a ball goes out of bounds.) This is a player-run league, so players are responsible for officiating their own games. Disputes will be decided by onsite coordinators, and the decision of these onsite coordinators is final. Conduct unbecoming a player that occurs within the soccer complex will result in immediate dismissal from the league. This conduct includes fighting, taunting, inappropriate language, reckless driving, and the use of alcohol/drugs. Again, there will be zero tolerance for such behavior. Please make sure the other members of your team are aware of the severe consequences that are sure to result from such behaviors. While I am sure this isn’t everything, the above information should be more than enough to get us started. Contact persons are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to their game on June 5 th & June 8th to ask questions and review additional rules. If you have questions, call Chris Lawson (cell) 816.392.5158 / (home) 816.407.7342 or Mike Wickenhauser (cell) 816.728.2931.
