Studying in Syracuse University School of Design

About me! I am an Industrial Design student at Syracuse University. While I work to complete my degree, I have spent time at the Princeton Design Guild, Wilkes Architects, Few Among Many productions and the Syracuse University MakerSpace. Those experiences have helped me develop my skills in a number of fields from interior design to architecture. I look forward to a long career in industrial design because of my passion for creativity and innovation. But I don’t limit myself to just industrial design – I am always ready to think outside of the box and see how many different mediums I can bring into a project. Whether it’s using my knowledge of 3D printing to customize camera rigs for 360 video or my interest in marketing to help my employers develop effective advertising, I am a team player ready to build the mold, and then break it.

Wearable Fitness System Blending beginners with the crowd

5TH YEAR THESIS -IN PROGRESS-

Mission Design a system that can be applied to commercial gyms to allow beginners the confidence needed to maintain a steady schedule to reach healthy goals.

Idea This system will use augmented reality to guide beginners through their daily workout providing insightful information to allow the user to perform with confidence that an advanced athlete may have.

Thoughts To avoid these beginners from standing out and feeling uncomfortable the device will also contain benefits that advanced gym goers will want to take advantage of such as tracking workouts and remembering specific accomplishments from day to day workouts.

Product Research

Existing wearables lack the intelligence to provide knowledge while tracking significant information. Expensive pricing reduces demand for devices that properly inform the user. A system implemented into commercial gyms would reduce pricing and encourage use for the average user.

PLANTER’S CAMPAIGN Revamp for reuse

Modify the products form to imply reuse

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. A theme that has transformed the evolution of design to steer in a direction of positive change.

without telling the user to do so. Creating a bowl shape and adding a lid will open the opportunity to creatively use for a number

Goal:

of household tasks.

Alter the products afterlife. How can I convince the user to keep and reuse this peanut container? Provide the consumer with an item that can serve a new purpose rather then being thrown away and wasted.

REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE

Removable branding The goal became more then just a product redesign but a campaign as well. I wanted this redesign to make a statement by allowing the user to remove branding in an effort to help green activism and encourage reuse.

11

OUR GOAL AT PLANTERS HAS SHIFTED TO AID OUR PLANETS WELL BEING. BY ALLOWING THE REMOVAL OF OUR LABEL FROM THIS CONTAINER WE HOPE TO INFLUENCE YOU TO REUSE THIS CONTAINER. BY DOING THIS, TOGETHER WE WILL REDUCE MATERIAL USAGE AND REUSE THIS CONTAINER TO RECYCLE ITS PURPOSE.

Convince consumers to Reduce plastic use by Reusing the container to Recycle its product life and giving it new purpose

ALS RESEARCH & DESIGN Building Confidence

ALS

The idea:

functionality in the muscles they supply. The cause is unknown. Medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there’s no cure...

After learning this... My mission became bringing confidence to ALS patients to help their everyday fight stay strong!

RABECCA COULTER care services coordinator of upstate New York ALS chapter directed me to...

Identify pain points in Tammy’s daily life She didn’t like relying on family for simlpe tasks... like brushing her teeth!

EMERGENCY RESPONDER Accountability system

This is todays accountability system...

Command knows who is on scene... but where are they? The current system is unorganized and doesn’t help command in an emergency.

CO-DESIGN with

DREW BIBER Montgomery Fire Dept Together we sat down and worked through the ideation process. I began by giving him basic forms. From there, we discussed reasoning and design possibilities until we came to our final concept

Problem Example: How will command know which floor a firefighter fell to?
