MEADOWS MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
Dear Meadows Families, I am a product of public education, and I have worked in public education for 26 years. I have been the proud principal of Madison Meadows Middle School for seven wonderful years. I have worked in three states, and throughout my educational career I have seen changes in school funding, initiatives, and expectations. Arizona currently has a number of House bills and Senate bills that – if passed – would drastically change the face of public education in our state. Many parents and community members in the Madison School District have formed an organization called Madison Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). They work tirelessly to ensure that they are informed regarding pending legislation, and they contact legislators regularly to voice their opinions and concerns. Made up of parents and community members, the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) assesses legislative issues for their impact on public education, specifically as they pertain to Madison. One of their top priorities is securing realistic funding for Arizona’s public schools, currently ranked 47th in the nation in per pupil funding. Levels of involvement range from passing along legislative information to lobbying legislators.
