Kiwanian Messages
Hi All, Being Lt Governor of PNW Kiwanis Division 9 has given me the opportunity to become more involved with Key Club. I have had some really great experiences this year alone.

I attended the Key Club division meeting in Omak when Jasmair Bains was elected as the Lt Governor for Key Club. In our first conversations, Jasmair and I had very similar goals. We both thought that Kiwanis and Key Clubs should be working together as much as we could. And, also when possible, we as a group should travel in unison to various Kiwanis functions. In March I went to the Key Club District Convention held in Seattle, WA. This was my first Key Club DCON, it will not be my last. I was impressed with the drive, desire, zest, and, zeal of all the Key Clubbers that attended. Knowing that the convention was totally orchestrated by Key Clubbers is a complement to your abilities as future leaders. Yes, there is more about future leaders. I also went as a chaperon to Camp Kawkawa in Hope, B.C., Canada where the Key Leader Program was held this spring. Key Club attendees worked together and accomplished all the assigned tasks and challenges presented to them. The whole of Kiwanis supports Key Club. Robert Stone Lt Governor PNW Kiwanis Division 9

Kiwanian Messages Continued
Key Club is an alive, well and much appreciated in Division 9. The energy put into useful and welcome projects by the 80 plus key clubbers is fantastic. I share our new Lieutenant Governors desire to build additional key clubs in the division and hope our Kiwanis clubs will continue to try to start new student clubs. In the past three years there has been interest in the Kiwanis Clubs of Tonasket, Brewster, and Oliver to start Key Clubs. The sticking point is often finding a faculty advisor to assist the club within the school. Teachers are busy and often have extra student related after school jobs already. Consider variations on advisors. Any staff member can be your advisor such as classified staff or administrators. If the person can relate to the students they can be affective. Also, clubs don't have to be in the school but can be in community organizations that deal with students. Hello Key Clubbers! This year, International Convention will be held in the happiest place on Earth: Anaheim, California! From July 2nd through July 6th, you’ll get the opportunity to meet Key Clubbers from all over the world. Last year, we had Key Clubbers all the way from New Zealand and Great Britain! With over 1,600 diverse Key Clubbers coming together in one hotel, you’re bound to meet new people whom you may have never had the chance to see otherwise. You’ll be able to share your service project ideas with other Key Clubbers and gain new ideas for the upcoming service year. In addition to increasing your service potential, you will also garner new skills as a servant leader through the numerous exciting forums that we are offering this year. Get ready for your next officer position for the 2014-2015 Key Club year or just work on becoming a leader in your home, school, and community! Finally, the future of Key Club International will be in your hands. It is up to you to elect the 2014-2015 International Board and to vote on the multiple amendments that will be brought up at this year’s House of Delegates. However, let’s not forget about the amazing experiences that you will have outside of International Convention! This year, the Pacific Northwest District is going to Disney Land on Tuesday, July 1st. You’ll be able to spend the entire day exploring this amusement park with some of the best people in the world at your side. Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT)
$1.80 can save a mother and its future babies!
Kills one baby every nine minutes.
Newborns suffer convulsions, and they’re extremely sensitivity to light. Their mothers cannot comfort them because the babies are sensitive to touch.
“Key Club has helped Unicef as a part of the Kiwanis family. Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for Unicef. This community service project was inspired and created by children in 1950. Trick-or-Treat for Unicef has inspired and assisted many generations of children to make lasting change in their global community. This year, all funds raised by Key Clubs through Trick-orTreating for Unicef will go to The Eliminate Project. The Eliminate Project is Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. By collecting donations for Unicef through the Trick-or-Treat for Unicef program over the years, Key Club has raised more than $5 million. This money has gone to help Iodine deficiency programs worldwide. The donations have also supported HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Also, the money that Key Club has raised through Unicef has helped with teen centers in Uruguay. These centers for teenagers helped with providing adolescents with job skills, education, family counseling and other social services. This year Key Club Trick-or-Treat for Unicef funds will support The Eliminate Project. Maternal and neonatal tetanus is a terrible tragedy. In countries where people lack health care education and services, a baby can be infected with tetanus during birth and can die within days. That short lifetime is agonizing, but this disease is easily preventable. An average of $1.80 will give three doses of vaccine to a mother and her child, this is enough to keep them safe from this deadly disease. Our goal is to eliminate MNT. Every K-Kids, Builders Club, and Key Club that participates in Trick-or-Treat for Unicef receives a fundraising kit with collection boxes to help them conduct a successful campaign.”Hakikat Bains

Liberty Bell Hosted the Key Club officers’ installation, and a walkathon to benefit Kiwanis Children's Cancer Research Program on Saturday the 25th. Where members of the community and Key Clubs from Division 9 helped out. They raised a total of $400 with more money rolling in.
Karen Delgado Put together a survey for the Omak members, so don’t forget to fill it out! “The reason why I decided to put it together is because I want to know what interests individuals have, and I want to get to know everyone better. I want the club to grow as a whole closer, and I want to know what everyone is interested in doing. What I can do to help them realize their Key Club passion.” Karen Delgado
