pavilion......

I have designed this pavilion for displaying futuristic and Avant-garde fashion design products. The key concept of the pavilion is to play with the unconventional and alienated design ideas which brings out the architectural aesthetics with a pragmatic approach. As we pass through the astonishing landscapes and enter the gigantic pyramidal truss structure, the visitors are greeted with the simple opulence of natural light and material sensation. The whole pavilion is constructed with PTFE membranes which are extremely resistant to weather and UV radiation with maximum flexibility and supported with aluminium rods. The site is located in the midst of Chennai city in India surrounded by a beautiful river.

RESIDENCE........

This is a residential design for a fashion designer. The fundamental concept of the design is to emphasize the materials used in the construction by leaving it incomplete and try to achieve architectural aesthetics with raw and unfinished materials. I have designed the building by arranging basic geometry shapes and modifying some of them. The tall triangular welcoming structure has a cuboidal entrance and projects out with two living rooms, one for personal guests and the other for professional guests. The personal living room leads to the gym and yoga meditation space made of glass with supported steel section. It looks like a cross section found in architectural drawings and leads to a game room and home theatre room which are designed with beautiful exposed bricks. The guest living room leads to the workspace and display room. The key aspect of the house is the two sleeping rooms which are designed in such a way based on the sun path so that one room can be used for a nap in the afternoons and the other for nights with an open glass ceiling.

Informal living room which leads to the gym and yoga meditation space is made of glass with supported steel section. It looks like a cross section found in architectural drawings and leads to a game room and home theatre room which are designed with beautiful exposed bricks.

Formal living room leads to the design studio and lounge which is made of glass with supported steel section. It looks like a cross section found in architectural drawings and leads to a change room and mirror room which are designed with wood.

The sleeping space designed with open glass ceiling does not allow sunlight to enter into the room in the afternoon.

modern art museum......

CONCEPT Modern art is a style conceptualized by breaking the rules and traditional values of the past and to conceptualize something new by experimentation. I have tried to create something similar which is aesthetically pleasing and unusual with absence of harmony, continuity and symmetry. High-end gallery for fine arts and sculptures, art restoration facilities, artist studios and an outdoor performance theater aims to empower the local artists so that they may play a critical role in the evolution of their community. This program merges Contemporary, National and International arts together. We equally divide the facilities into two zones: a museum containing galleries and art restoration and a facility for education and research.

The location of the site for the museum is in Rajarhat, a commercial and residential district of Kolkata which is a vibrant hub with increased cultural activity. Kolkata is a key cultural centre of India from the British era to the current modern era. The city is a diverse group of iconoclastic ideas and revolutionary trends instrumental in shaping the literary, artistic and social ideas of India.

I have divided the museum into academic-auction and gallery spaces. The ground floor has the classrooms for paintings and sculptures accompanied by a separate auditorium. There is also a gallery space where students and others can put up their work. The library and the gallery space are accessible to both the users. There is a space provided for the auctions to be held. I have placed the gallery spaces above the academic-auction space. I have arranged the gallery spaces based on the timeline of the Modern Art Movement so that people can feel the uniqueness of the art of that time period. The Impressionism, Post-impressionism and Fauvism are featured in the first floor, the Cubism and Futurism in the second floor, Constructivism and Bauhaus in third floor, Dada and Surrealism in the fourth floor, Pop art and Minimalism in the fifth floor.
