TOWN NOTICES PLAN - PREPARE - BE AWARE Winter storms are a frequent occurrence in Ontario and in addition to causing treacherous roads and interruption to travel, storms are a significant cause of power outages during the winter months. In addition to the many impacts that may be experienced to buildings and infrastructure in a community, power outages resulting from storms may pose several challenges for residents. Some of the basic amenities we take for granted may not be available during a power outage unless you have a back-up power supply. During the colder weather the loss of electricity, hot water or lighting can quickly make your home inhabitable. Make sure your household has a plan to deal with extended power outages. Blue and White Civic Address Signs Can Save Your Life By-law No. 99-68 requires all properties in Gravenhurst to have a blue and white reflectorized civic address sign properly posted and clearly visible to traffic from both directions. The placement and maintenance of signage is the responsibility of all property owners.
Missing signs or signs with incorrect numbering can delay emergency services from reaching their destination quickly.
With the onset of winter weather, property owners are reminded to ensure that their civic address signs are kept clear of snow and that the signs do not obstruct the safe operation of snow clearing equipment. For a complete copy of By-law No. 99-68, please visit: www.gravenhurst.ca/bylaws
