Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and showtime is 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be available. We kick things off with the perfect back-to-school family flick;

‘How To Eat Fried Worms!’

It’s 11-year-old Billy’s (Luke Benward) first day at a new school. Such an occasion is difficult enough for a boy to survive unscathed, but he inadvertently incurs the wrath of a bully and finds himself in an unappetizing predicament: He must eat 10 worms in a single day or face the consequences. A sister who likes to blab, a weak stomach, and Billy’s own big mouth stack the deck against him.

O. 18). A By-law to repeal the designation by-law is to be considered by the Gravenhurst Town Planning Council at its regular meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m. on October 18, 2016.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE UNDER S. 32 OF THE ONTARIO HERITAGE ACT, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.18 TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst intends to designate the eastern portion of Lighthouse Island, located at Part of Island A in the Town of Gravenhurst, District Municipality of Muskoka, as a property of Cultural Heritage Value under Part IV of The Ontario Heritage Act (R.S.O 1990, C. O. 18).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION is available at the Planning Department in the Municipal Office during office hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday). For further information, please contact Jeremy Rand, Planner at 705-687-3412. Ext. 246.

A By-law to designate the property is to be considered by Gravenhurst Town Planning Council at its regular meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m. on October 18, 2016.

Any person may send by registered mail or deliver to the Clerk of the Town of Gravenhurst notice of their objection to the proposed designation together with a statement of the reasons for the objection and all relevant facts. If such a Notice of Objection is received, the Council of the Town of Gravenhurst will refer the matter to the Conservation Review Board for a hearing.

STATEMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE VALUE: The Narrows at only 80 feet in width and 20 feet in depth is a difficult and dangerous channel to enter. As it is the only way in and out of Muskoka Bay, the site of the lighthouse has always been important for navigation. In the mid to late 1800’s, the Muskoka Lakes Navigation Company had to supply their own aids for safety and ease of navigation on the lakes.

Notice of objection to the designation must be filed with the municipality by Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Dated at the Town of Gravenhurst this 8th day of September 2016. Kayla Thibault - Director of Legislative Services/Clerk

Tenders were called for in 1905 for a contract to construct a white wooded pyramidal tower on masonry foundation with a square wooden lantern to be raised 28 feet above the water level. Ever since, the Narrows Lighthouse has been a familiar structure on Lake Muskoka. During the first 44-year tenure of the lighthouse, just one keeper, Isaac Barnes, was in charge of keeping the lights on by lighting and extinguishing the light in the lanterns every day, but for over a half century now, it has been equipped with an electric light. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION is available at the Planning Department in the Municipal Office during office hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday). For further information, please contact Jeremy Rand, Planner at 705-687-3412 Ext. 246. Notice of objection to the designation must be filed with the municipality by Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
