The Gravenhurst Emergency Management Planning Committee reminds everyone to prepare for: Severe Summer Storms Have you and your family prepared for severe weather? Just last summer, Gravenhurst was struck by an unexpected summer storm which toppled trees and power lines. Many were left without power for days. Are you prepared for such an event? Every household should be prepared with a minimum of 72 hours’ worth of non-perishable food, drinking water, medicine and supplies for family pets. If you had to evacuate your home, have you preplanned where you would go? Do you have clothing and medicine (and cash) readily available? If you have a generator, is it well maintained and do you have an adequate fuel supply? Now is the time to prepare, and remember… hoping for the best is NOT a plan! Are YOU ready? Meeting Time Change The next Committee of the Whole and Council Meeting for the Town of Gravenhurst is Tuesday, August 19th, 2014. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Committee and Council Meeting on August 19th will commence at 1:00 p.m. rather than the regular scheduled time of 3:00 p.m. The meetings will be held in the Council Chambers, Municipal Office at 3-5 Pineridge Gate.
Join us Saturday, September 20th from 11am-4pm, as the Town renames our arena at the Centennial Centre after Canadian Paralympic Sledge Hockey Player and Gravenhurst native Graeme Murray! The celebration will include food, entertainment, sledge hockey demonstration and much more! This will be truly be a memorable day for our community and a well-deserved tribute.
