CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

EMPLOYMENT

2015 INTERIM TAX BILLS Notice to all Residents

Did you know that Carbon Monoxide Alarms are required by April 1, 2015? If you have a fuel burning appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage, you will be required by Provincial legislation to have a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm installed adjacent to each sleeping area by April 1, 2015. If you are an owner of a multi-unit residential building, a bed & breakfast, a hotel or a motel, please contact the fire prevention division for details about the requirements in your building for the installation and maintenance of CO alarms. For more information, contact Fire Prevention Officer Robert King, (705) 687-3414, Robert.King@gravenhurst.ca

Spring Melt The winter melt is on now, spring is near! Please exercise caution around our lakes, rivers and streams. The arrival of warmer temperatures and rain will begin to melt the snow pack. Runoff from the melt will enter our local water-ways resulting in increased river flows and rising lake levels. Significant precipitation and rapid melting of the snow pack can result in a flood event. Town of Gravenhurst officials will continue to monitor conditions with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Visit the Personal Preparedness section at www.gravenhurst.ca to learn how you can prepare for the potential of spring floods.

REDUCED LOADS 2015 Reduced Load Period – Town of Gravenhurst March 17, 2015 to May 31, 2015 Bylaw: 2009-019

During the spring thaw period, typically early March to mid-May, some roads cannot withstand heavy vehicle loads. Depending on the progression of the thaw, restrictions can come into effect quickly, sometimes with only a few days notice. Once the pavement strength has been restored, the load restrictions are removed. To ensure the protection of certain roads the Town of Gravenhurst puts a weight restriction of 5 tonnes per axle on the roads under the Towns jurisdiction. It is advisable that interested parties should make appropriate arrangements prior to the weight restriction period, which starts around the beginning of March and usually lasts until mid May. Any deviations to this must strictly adhere to the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act. 2015 Reduced Load Period – Town of Gravenhurst - March 17, 2015 to May 31, 2015.
