EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK The Town of Gravenhurst is calling on residents to Spring into Support for our business community. While considering your next purchase during this Stay at Home Order, we encourage you to support local where you can.
Together with our partnering Muskoka Libraries, the Gravenhurst Public Library is excited to host a virtual author talk with Kate Hilton. Hilton is a bestselling author of ‘The Hole in the Middle’ and ‘Just Like Family’. Her latest book, ‘Better Luck Next Time’, will be featured in this discussion. The presentation will take place on Tuesday May 4th at 7pm. Please email library@gravenhurst.ca to register for this event. Autographed copies of ‘Better Luck Next’ Time will be available for pre-purchase for $15.00. Please let the Library know if you’d like one.
Are you prepared? It is vital that you be prepared to take care of yourself and family members for at least the first 72 hours of an emergency. This would allow emergency and rescue responders to help those that are unable to assist themselves or are in need of immediate care. Emergency Preparedness Week is May 2-8, 2021 and the Town of Gravenhurst wants everyone to understand the importance of being prepared. Emergencies can happen at any time and sometimes with little warning. Whether it is an ice storm, flooding, hydro outage, tornado or forest fire, will you be prepared to stay or even prepared to evacuate if necessary? Ask yourself…..am I ready? Do I have the necessary items and plans in place to weather out the storm even if beyond a couple of days? Am I able or prepared to leave my home for an extended period of time? Watch for upcoming information to help you be better prepared in the event of an emergency.
