WINTER OPERATIONS - DID YOU KNOW DID YOU KNOW THAT parking on Town / District roads is restricted during the months of November 1 to April 30. No person shall park a motor vehicle or permit a motor vehicle to remain parked on any public roadway between the hours of 12:00 am to 7:00 a.m.? This permits snow plow operators to conduct their operations in a manner that is unencumbered, maximizing the safety for vehicular traffic. Vehicles found in contravention will be subject to penalties and may be towed at the owner’s expense.

FIRE SAFETY Let’s Keep Kitchen Safety Top of Mind in 2021 Cooking continues to be the leading cause of home fires and injuries and we know kitchen fires can be prevented. Almost half of the reported home fires started in the kitchen. Sparky is offering a few kitchen cooking tips which we hope you find to be helpful reminders. 1. Never leave cooking unattended. If you need to leave the kitchen, even for a short time, shut the stove off. 2. Establish a “Safe Zone” in the kitchen where the children are not allowed to be. 3. Keep pot and pan handles turned in so they don’t get bumped and knocked over. 4. Keep combustible materials such as dish towels, curtains and paper towels at least 1 metre away from the stove. 5. Keep an oversized lid or pan nearby. In the event of a small oil/grease fire starts, slide the pan over the flames to smother the fire and turn the burner off.

Watch for more of Sparkys’ upcoming safety tips in the New Year.
