What are our risks for March? 1. 9% of annual loss fires occur in March. 2. There is an average of 52 injuries. 3. There is an average of 8 fatalities. 4. The top sources of ignition involved were cooking equipment, heating equipment and cigarettes. While COVID-19 has dramatically changed our lives, lifestyles and habits, we cannot let it beat us down. We must be vigilant in our day to day activities and conscious of how quick accidents can happen. Firefighters continue to urge everyone to practice fire safety measures in the home with every member of the family. And don’t forget….your pets are family members a well! Be attentive and careful while cooking in the kitchen, do not use extension cords with portable heaters and provide deep, sturdy ashtrays for people to use while smoking outside the home. Should you have any questions, feel free to visit Gravenhurst.ca/fire or call 705-647-3414 ext. 223.
