Employment opportunity with the Town of Gravenhurst

1. Have your heating system including chimneys checked, inspected and cleaned as necessary by a competent, qualified service agent. If heating is done by a wood-burning appliance, be sure the agent is a WETT Certified Chimney Sweep. 2. Clean out the eaves of leaves, pin needles and other debris. 3. Stockpile your supply of firewood away from the house. Stacking on the deck, veranda or porch greatly adds to the fire load and spread in the event of a fire. 4. Most carbon monoxide and smoke alarms have a dated lifespan of 5-10 years. Check the expiry date on your alarms and replace according to the manufacturer specifications. 5. Almost 50% of all home fires occur in homes with no alarms. Your chances of dying in a house fire are cut in half if you have working smoke alarms.
