END OF SUMMER THOUGHTS As we quickly see the summer disappear, our thoughts need to turn to what the fall months bring us. It may be a good time to create a “Job Jar” highlighting jobs that need to be tended to as fall and winter quickly come on. With our Canadian weather system, we know so well that conditions can change overnight and we need to be prepared.
Here are just a few: 1. Clean all leaves and gutters of leaves, pine needles and other debris. 2. Remove debris and any dead vegetation away from any building foundations.
Are you 18 years old or turning 18 on or before October 24th? DYK you can vote in the upcoming Municipal Election? Your vote to elect the Mayor and members of Council will affect the future of Gravenhurst. Make sure you’re on the list and VOTE on October 24.

3. Check any chimneys for leaves, nests and other debris. Also, ensure any spark arrestors are in good condition and unobstructed of any debris.
PUBLIC NOTICE
4. Be sure all fuel containers are capped and properly sealed. Store the containers in a shed or detached garage and away from any sources of heat.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst proposes to enact a by-law to close, stop up and sell those parts of the original shore road allowance described as follows:
5. Stock your firewood away from the house. This will decrease the fire load and lessen fire spread should a fire start in this area.
That part of the original shore road allowance in front of the Road Allowance in front of the Road Allowance between the Townships of Morrison & Ryde, Concession 7, Township of Ryde, now Town of Gravenhurst, District Municipality of Muskoka, designated as Part 1 on 35R-26725 (Kahshe Lake)
6. Have a competent, qualified WETT Technician inspect your wood burning appliances and chimneys and conduct any necessary repairs and/or cleaning. These are just a few simple tasks to help motivate you and get you going. More tips and ideas will be coming your way in the next couple of columns. For additional information or assistance, please visit Gravenhurst.ca/fire or call 705-687-3414.
