It’s hard to believe that in June this year we will be 15 years old! When we first started to design “The Classic Hammock” on the kitchen table in Little Somerford in 1996 we could hardly have imagined that we would be here in what seems like the blink of an eye. The journey has been incredible with a few notable highlights. The first is our incredibly loyal customer base who have grown with us and supported us every inch of the way. We thank you sincerely for helping us reach this amazing point. And the second is our wonderful team who have truly made Neptune what it is today. We hope that one of the reasons that we have reached this fantastic milestone is because we have held true to a few of our guiding principles: From the outset we wanted to create items that were well designed, both aesthetically and from a practical point of view. We also have a total commitment to quality in both choice of the right materials as well as the right construction methods. And finally we continue to seek out every cost saving measure to ensure maximum value in each and every item. Our aim has always been to build lasting relationships with every one of our customers. We set about this by seeking to ensure that, once the initial excitement of your purchase is over, a deep sense of having made the right decision settles in. Therefore each one of our items is designed and produced down to the finest detail. This means that you will continue to discover the level of detail and quality over time. We continue to remain true to our commitment to use only the best materials possible. We do this because we want every Neptune item to last and last. The best comments that we receive are from those customers who write into us after five or ten or even fifteen years to tell us that the original item that they purchased from us is still going strong. And we firmly intend to build on that tradition. This year we have added significantly to our core ranges as well as added in new sections to help complete the whole home. In particular we have developed our table selection with a focus on our extending tables. These incorporate our latest engineering to give you beautiful furniture that really performs as it should. For the first time we have included a new collection of upholstery in our growing collection of linens and our occasional collections have similarly expanded. To complete the look we have added to our beautiful lamps a new seasoned oak style and a rustic ball style. On the technical side we have introduced our new Isoguard which offers unprecedented protection to your furniture. And as ever we continue to innovate in every field to help you create that wonderful, personal home.

The story so far... 2

t the heart of Neptune lies a close knit group of individuals. Each has their own ideas about which they are passionate. Right from the early years when we set ourselves up in our farm workshop in North Wiltshire we have had a simple and clear set of goals. We love good quality, we love good design and we have always felt that this need not cost the earth. Fifteen years later there are more than two hundred of us, from skilled carpenters, hand painters and finishers, timber selection and quality control. Our desire is to do as much as we can ourselves. In this way we can choose the best materials for the job, keep a close eye on the quality throughout and finally make sure that each piece arrives with you with as much care as possible. Our style remains focussed on the wealth of fabulous tradition that exists in English cabinet making. When you look at the range of classic beauty in English architecture from the early Norman influences right through to the more recent Arts and Crafts movement the inspiration is wonderful. Authentic materials and colours coupled with a glorious simplicity of design. Wandering around beautiful English market towns the range and quality of craftsmanship is breathtaking. So we feel we have a lot to do and we hope you will join us on this journey. New colours come as standard and our new Seasoned Oak finish gives immediate grace and age to our latest collections. Read on to understand the commitment we have to ensure that every cabinet, table or chair has an authentic quality that will last and last.

Design, Construction & Materials With so many ideas to choose from there is never a dull moment for the design team. We feel very lucky to have such a talented group of carpenters and hand painters. With this ability in production we are able to dream up some fabulous details that many would not attempt. We do this because we can...

Before we go to finishing, every item is fitted. Doors and drawers are hand installed to the millimetre to guarantee the finish we want. Next our pre-finishing team set to work to get each piece perfectly prepared for its final finish. This is a painstaking process, but ensures the finish looks its best.

From curved pieces through invisible pull out parts to false facades, all are possible. Our home office collection is a great example of this skill. The way the desk slides away into the cabinet frame is so well hidden that you would never know they were there! Both pieces are a joy to use, simply because of their practical and beautiful design, fantastically brought to life in our workshops. Doing the paperwork is never fun, but this is just one example of the pieces in our latest collection that will put a smile on your face.

Finally each piece goes through a four stage finishing program. First we prime each piece. This is then followed by the first and second mid coat. Between each coat fine hand sanding takes place. Finally we hand finish.

Our design process revolves around a few key areas. Firstly function, what is the piece for and what are we trying to achieve? We consider every aspect of this carefully and try and incorporate as many of the required features as possible. But then we go further! Not satisfied with just a working solution, it must look good and work well. For example many of our pieces have adjustable shelves. It would be easiest to make just a few of the shelves adjustable however we do every one - no matter what the piece or where the shelf is. Next it would be simplest to just allow for the obvious adjustments, maybe a central position, one higher and one lower however all our shelves are fully adjustable. But it must look good as well, so we did some research and were able to create a beautiful traditional ‘zig-zag’ shelf adjustment system. But this is a really difficult piece to make, so we asked the carpenters. And their response? “Of course we can...”

Because we make our own furniture we are free to source the ideal materials for the job. Experience has taught us that starting with the best materials results in better joinery and better finish, making for better furniture.

This is what keeps the design team busy. We research, we listen to feedback, we sketch, we adjust and we discuss with the guys that know, the ones that have got to make it. Finally we sample, modify, sample... until we are satisfied. Now comes the fun part, we test! Finally we are ready and its over to you to see if you like it. We hope that some of our latest designs catch your eye... have a look at the detail! This is where the real work begins. Having agreed with the design team that we can make it, we set about studying the detail to work out how! Some of their ideas really can put us to the test. The answer always lies in researching the best of traditional carpentry techniques. When making up any frames we always use mortise and tenon joints. The reason is simple: this is the strongest kind of joint and should last the lifetime of the product. It is the strongest part, not the weakest link! But our standards require some exceptional joinery, so the first major effort goes into making accurate components according to our master templates. These are checked for accuracy and fine sanded before construction. This guarantees a high quality of assembly by our expert carpenters, just to make sure that each frame is really strong. First we apply a two part epoxy glue to each joint, then we put the frame into a hydraulic press to guarantee super tight joins. Whilst still in the press we drill across each mortice and tenon joint and lock each one with a dowel all the way through. If you look very carefully you might be lucky enough to be able to just make this out! Now that is strong.

Prior to packing, each piece goes through its own extensive quality control inspection to check that the function and finish satisfy in every way. Once happy we carefully pack your furniture for delivery.

Our work surfaces are made from large staves of oak for a beautiful natural look. If there is a flaw of any kind we then add a veneer to ensure that the finish you get is second to none. This is finally finished with a our new Isoguard to ensure practicality for daily use. If you expect your oak to have a life of heavy usage we offer an Isoguard Maintenance Treatment that you can regularly apply. Our cabinet frames and much of the detailing on our furniture, including door frames and drawer boxes are made from Birch. This timber has been selected by our craftsmen for a number of reasons: It is one of the most stable timbers available, which means your furniture will not twist and warp over time. It is also fantastic to work with, which allows us to make up any kind of intricate shape that our designers dream up. Finally it is renowned for its smooth finish providing an ideal surface for our renowned hand-painted finish. We make our cabinet panels up from laminates of poplar, finished in birch. The cross lamination of poplar ensures a strong and smooth form, whether a curve or flat shape. The birch finish is ultra smooth for a fine paint finish. In all our production we take great care to ensure that we are doing our very best for the environment. For example in our new Henley collection we have chosen North American oak from the Appalachian Mountains. In the last 50 years the timber availability has increased year on year, demonstrating their strong environmental credentials. We don’t feel that you can do better than that. Many of our finishes are also water based to similarly preserve the environment. The reason for this care is simple: we believe fully that we must take care of the world that we pass on. Our fittings are made from either rust treated steel, stainless steel, aluminium or chromed brass. All of our drawer runners are supplied by Blum who offer a lifetime guarantee on their performance and can carry a massive 30kgs. With furniture designed with this much attention to detail, we hope that you will have the confidence to trust in us.

Breakfast, lunch, supper, tea, coffee, homework - the list is endless. Your table and chairs are a workhorse, and the centrepiece of your room. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s why we put so much into this collection. This year we have added several new extending systems to the Suffolk, Sheldrake and Chichester collections. These are designed to be well engineered, super strong, easy to use and with storage solutions either on board or in neat fabric pockets. We have also introduced our new Isoguard system, a revolutionary finish to your furniture that provides serious protection against daily use. Whilst it is always advisable to wipe up spills as they occur, our system protects against virtually all stains up to 6 hours after the initial spill and many spills leave no mark even after 24 hours. Of course a chair is just an object to sit on, but we want much more. It should be comfortable, not just for 5 minutes, but for hours. We take great care to ensure this comfort, choosing just the right angle for seat and back, just the right curves to both relax and support. We choose the right upholstery with an ideal softness enough give, but not too much. We also choose strength. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s why we have hardwood frames all solidly jointed together. We choose practicality with washable surfaces or removable covers. Whatever your choice, you can be sure that we have considered every detail...in detail.

Suffolk

Finished in Honed Slate with Seasoned Oak tops Our concept for Suffolk came from finding a series of classic “Ball Back” chairs produced in East Anglia by a selection of the best workshops at the turn of the 18th century. These wonderful antiques have a unique elegance that was an instant appeal so we set about updating this delightful idea. The original ball features are retained and we have refined the design to give a classic style for the twenty-first century. For Suffolk our standard finish is a hand painted Honed Slate. In addition each chair is also available in hand painted limestone, Seasoned Oak or Natural Oak so that you can mix and match with our other collections. Finally you can also custom paint to any of our colours on page 149. As a result of the instant success of this chair, we then added a series of stunning tables. These start with a simple 150 farmhouse table that carries through the original “Ball” style to each hand-turned leg. Whilst the 150 standard table can comfortably seat six, the extending version of the same table will seat up to ten, with the 180 extending making it possible to seat twelve! To complete the collection we have produced a complete line up of dining furniture. We have taken the Suffolk theme of elegant simplicity and applied it to a new collection of sideboards, dressers, console tables and wine racks. A host of new features have been added. One of our favourite timbers, natural oak, is used for all the shelves for extra strength and beauty. Where we have glass-fronted cabinets we have added subtle lighting from the cabinet top. In order to allow the light to fill the whole cabinet we have let a piece of glass into the oak shelves, which gives a fantastic look. We have also incorporated our beautiful new magnetic catches as a final flourish. We love our new hand crafted Suffolk collection and hope you will too. Harrogate

Finished in Honed Slate with Seasoned Oak tops The spa town of Harrogate first became popular in the mid seventeenth century, attracting wealthy visitors who brought a style and sophistication with them. Our Harrogate collection seeks to draw on that style coupled with a strong Yorkshire tradition of furniture making, epitomised by the acclaimed Thomas Chippendale, whose family lived locally and were all fine craftsmen. Thus our Harrogate table has an unusual and beautiful design that draws on this creative tradition. The pedestal ends have a particular look that is distinctively unique. Available as a classic and comfortable 6 seater or with an inbuilt extension leaf system that can easily seat 10 in elegant style. The Honed Slate hand painted finish together with our new Isoguard seasoned oak seal complete the look. The Harrogate chair is a sophisticated and classic design, strong yet fine. Seats are curved for extra comfort, marking out the attention to detail you will always find in our furniture. Henley

When we set about designing the Henley collection we wanted to create a sophisticated natural timber look - something that stands apart from the modern mainstream. The first consideration was which timber to use. Having already found oak to be a firm favourite in our collections we then considered how to achieve a stunning finish. The effect we were seeking was to maintain the natural, yet slightly faded elegance of new raw oak, but at the same time to protect and seal the furniture effectively so it would last and last. After a year of development and testing we are now delighted with the result. The design of Henley is derived from older classically styled antiques, yet with a contemporary edge that makes it at once at home in almost any interior, whether a loft apartment or a country hideaway. Many traditional features abound from our ubiquitous zig-zag shelf system to mortise and tenon joinery. At the same time we have incorporated the best in new engineering from Blum for our drawer systems and have developed our own new antique bronze hinges and elegant magnetic closes. Subtle lighting is incorporated into the glazed cabinets with glass let into the oak shelves so that the whole cabinet is filled with an elegant glow. We hope that you will agree that the effort in the overall design as well as all the clever little details has been worth it.

Needless to say the standard is the same as all our other pieces, so there’s nothing more left to say. Just decide the kind of storage that you want in the bottom half and the kind of display up top. Henley Dressers Our Henley sideboards and dressers are designed to suit almost any part of your home, from Living Room to Hall or Dining Room to Kitchen. New features abound. The sideboards include neat pull-out serving shelves to give added space when required. The work top itself is enhanced by a neat under-moulding that is similarly styled to the dresser cornice. The dresser tops include a series of neat storage drawers, beautifully constructed using dovetail joinery throughout. Fittings are made from our new antique bronze finish, but can all be interchanged with our chrome fittings for a sharper look. Glazed shelves are oak framed to enhance the overall look yet also allow our neat fitted lights to fill the cabinets with a warm glow. Chichester and Larsson are now well established as a fantastic selection for your bedrooms. Fabulous timber beds are beautiful and strong, yet fine and elegant. In both collections we have incorporated linen upholstery for a softer touch and of course included practicality as standard. Each upholstered part is removable so that you can wash the linen whenever you need to or even customise by adding your own choice of fabric. You can also paint our Chichester collection in a colour of your choice should you wish and why not choose a contrasting wall colour (See pages 109 and 149). New this year we have added a pair of stunning dressing tables that can also be used as a dainty desk piece. Soft close drawers have been designed to be slender in their look, yet large enough to accommodate essentials such as most hairdryer sizes. To complement your new bedroom we have a selection of fabulous bedside tables. The open design is pretty and elegant and the cupboard style gives additional storage for bedtime reading. Both have a small soft close drawer for ease of finding those little bits and pieces at all hours. A selection of chest of drawers ranging from three to seven drawers covers all of your storage needs, and in addition there are fabulous cupboards to complete the look. Naturally the specification is high. Each drawer has Blum soft close runners, ensuring perfect drawer opening time after time. No longer do you have to balance the drawer on your knee as you try to find your favourite piece of clothing that is hidden at the very back! Treasure Chest These are chest of drawers with a difference. Traditionally drawers tend to stick and drop. If you want to get at something at the back, they may even fall out. Ours will never do that with a concealed runner system from Blum that literally makes your drawers glide. There is even a soft close system that gently pulls your drawer to a perfect close. Not only that but each drawer has the capability of carrying up to 30 kilograms and the runner system is guaranteed for life. Love Larsson The hand carved five petalled flower is taken from a delicate Swedish wild forest flower. The slim legs have fine grooves carved from them to enhance their slenderness. Our first few kitchen pieces proved so popular that we have created an entire separate category for fitted kitchens, together with a specialist department to look after your every requirement, from design to finish. Our kitchen concept first arose with a desire to make sure that the look fitted with all the other parts of the home and our interiors collection. Our free standing pieces reflect that impulse to have the kitchen merge seamlessly into the living space. All our kitchen cabinetry is built to the same high standard of joinery and hand craftsmanship as the rest of our ranges. This is unusual in kitchens, where often the hidden parts are built to a fairly basic level. But we believe that our kitchens should last just as well as any other piece, so each cabinet is properly framed with mortice and tenon joints. Drawers use dovetail joinery and are super strong, with the added finesse of fully extending, soft close Blum runners. Each cabinet is a full and independent piece of joinery, so much so that you can even disassemble your fitted kitchen and take it with you when you move. These are not idle words...we have actually done this. So if you are after one or two pieces to enhance your kitchen, look no further. Butchers Chopping Blocks Our chopping blocks bring a new and exciting look to the traditional kitchen. Available in both Chichester and Suffolk, our latest designs include a host of great features. The chopping area itself is made from maple on its end grain. We chose maple as it is widely seen as the premium chopping block timber. And we use an endgrain system as this completely takes care of your knives, keeping them much sharper for longer. This happens because as your knife hits the fine maple grain, the fibres in the timber part, thus cushioning and protecting your beautiful kitchen knives. Our next innovation is that we have made the chopping part removable. This makes for much easier cleaning but also means you can move prepared food to where you want it and even use the board to serve from or use as a cheese board. On the original Chichester we have included a robust storage drawer on soft close runners to store those beautiful knives. On the Suffolk we have added an under slung rail where you can hang, pots and pans, cheeses or even a ham or game. Both come with a storage shelf to look after all your utensils. Whether you use as an island in a smaller kitchen or as the perfect preparation space, you will love this piece every time you use it.

Henley Wine Racks Clearly we take our wine storage very seriously! At the same time our new Henley cabinets are very multi functional since they incorporate our zig-zag shelf system. But we still think they are great for wine and with a shelf system you can store plenty in a small space. If you have the space, chose the 4ft rack. You can even add a Henley top should you chose. Original Colours by Neptune

Our original paint colours are designed to work harmoniously together, so you can paint a wall in Old Chalk and a piece of furniture in York Stone or Aqua Blue. Whatever your choice the result will be stunning. Our paint is available in two finishes, Original Emulsion for walls and Original Eggshell for furniture or doors and skirting boards. All that is required is a light rub down of the previous finish with a fine sand paper and then start painting. Our cabinets are all designed so that you need paint the outside surfaces only, retaining the Calico finish on the inside. Additionally, when purchasing any of our pieces you can opt for our Hand Painting Service below.

Hand Painting Service In order to customise your piece of furniture to your own style we offer the option of a final hand painting service in one of our unique paint colours. Add your own choice of handle and you will have your own distinctive piece. Any of our standard Limestone finished pieces can have this option. Simply check which service is applicable to the piece you have selected and choose the colour of your choice. We will do the rest. First we prepare each piece by removing all the hardware. Then we lightly rub down your piece with 180 grit paper to ensure a perfectly keyed surface. Then we mask the parts that do not require painting. Now we will set about painting, with fine brushstrokes following the grain of the wood. The colour is built up until we are satisfied. Once completely dry we reassemble your furniture, check it and carefully pack for onward delivery to you. Your choice of paint is included in the service charge.

Cushions, Finishings & Linens Although our chairs are truly comfortable in their own right with carefully considered curves and angles it’s the finishes that really make the difference. For our solid timber and Lloyd loom chairs we offer a cushion option that adds the final flourish for the ultimate in comfort. Although not strictly necessary, such is the comfort of our chairs, these are always appreciated.

For a more luxurious upholstered chair we have a range of choices all in our glorious linens. If you love the comfort of an upholstered chair, but need the practicality too, then the long island linen choice is ideal. Here you have the look of a fully upholstered chair with our patented Letterbox fixing system. Yet the cover is in fact removable and washable and also comes in a range of four colours. For a seasonal change you can even order two covers for each chair and simply change with your mood. Our fixed upholstery chairs come with a fabric treatment to keep stains at bay and we have chosen not just beautiful, but also practical colour for our wonderful linens. A particular favourite of ours is the Lloyd loom finish, which is both comfortable and practical. Even if food does fall on your chair it can simply be washed or brushed out. New this year we have added a lead light colour in order to expand your colour coordination choices.

Our handles and hinges offer a fantastic way to give your cabinet a distinct and individual feel. As standard our free standing cabinets are delivered with the standard selection of handles from that collection. In the case of Chichester we supply both the medium chrome and medium oak handle so you can instantly adjust the look. Beyond that we have expanded the custom options dramatically. You will note firstly that throughout our furniture we don’t use cheap “kitchen hinges” as found on most furniture. Instead we produce our own classic butt hinges that, although much tougher to make good furniture with, have a fantastic enduring appeal. Each cabinet has its own standard hinge colour, however we also can supply the alternative finish which you can retro-fit without difficulty as they are sized precisely the same. Now you have a wonderful array of handles to choose, form antique, through classic to stylishly up to date. We also offer a variety of sizes and find that this can make a huge difference to the feel also. A very small handle offers a super-stylish minimal feel whilst a large handle is bold and full of character. Coupled with our paint choices, you really can have a lot of fun creating your own style.

Our magnetic catches are standard on Suffolk and Henley cabinets, Suffolk being fitted with Chrome and Henley with Antique Bronze. Should you wish to change the look you can purchase and fit either of these magnetic catches providing you have magnets already built into the cabinet doors.

Packed with features, this piece provides all you need for your home office. The gliding desk neatly conceals into the cabinet face and has sufficient space to keep your keyboard and mouse or laptop computer. The main space above has a fully adjustable shelf to allow the right amount of space for a monitor and storage for books and files or to place your printer. The upper cabinet allows for further file or book storage, whilst the lower cabinet allows for a full size computer as well as further filing space. All areas have cable runs pre-installed so that you can place each piece of electronics where you need. Simply close the doors and slide away the desk for a completely clean and elegant finish to the day.

Styled as a partner to our Housekeepers Cupboard, this Deluxe Workstation has it all. Sized at 4ft there is ample storage space for all your work requirements. Two fully adjustable shelves with in-built cable runs allow for total flexibility in the placement of electronic equipment such as computer, printer and monitor. Once placed there is still plenty of room for filing space. Beautiful bi-fold doors on chromed brass hinges fold right back to give full access to the workspace. The desk runs out of its own slot below and gives sufficient separate space for a keyboard and mouse or Laptop computer. Fold closed at the end of the day when its time to return home.

Each cabinet is designed and built to our usual high standard incorporating solid timber framing, mortice and tenon jointing, fully adjustable shelving using our â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;zig-zagâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; system, four fully adjustable chromed steel feet for superior strength and durability. The list goes on. Each cabinet has been carefully sized to fit most books and or wine bottles. The height is adjustable so should suit most rooms. All you have to do is choose the cabinets to suit your space. You can easily go around corners, either by turning a full right angle or by using a smaller cabinet across the corner. Once the main cabinets are installed you have a choice of skirting and cornice to complete the installation. Finally you must choose either painted or oak shelves. The painted shelves suit a light and airy space and the oak shelves are super strong for the heaviest of loads.

The majority of our oak surfaces are now treated with our New IsoGuard速 Neptune IsoGuard速 is a unique product that protects your wood and is now used on most Neptune oak surfaces. The clever part is how it works. Instead of applying a layer on top of your timber, IsoGuard速 is designed to penetrate the timber surface and bond with each wood fibre at a molecular level. More importantly Isoguard does not like to bond to itself. This advanced technology offers several major benefits. Firstly it means that one application is all you need. In fact a further application will not achieve anything at all! Secondly it means that the character of the wood is completely retained as there is no surface build up. Finally it means that any repairs are wonderfully simple as a second treatment will only react with unprotected wood created by the damage or subsequent repair. IsoGuard速 will protect your wood against most accidents, including spillages of water, tea, coffee, wine, fizzy drinks, vinegar, olive oil, milk and lemon juice. After one hour there should be no visible damage on well maintained and treated timber. After 6 hours you will find slight damage from vinegar. After 24 hours you will get slight damage from coffee, vinegar, milk and lemon juice. We recommend that you wipe up spillages as soon as you find them.

Useful Information

Care & Maintenence We hope that having browsed through our collection of contemporary classics you have been tempted. Once home we are sure that any of our pieces will give you a lifetime of great use as well as enormous pleasure in the style and quality. This is real furniture made from authentic materials built to last. In order to get the best out of your furniture we would like to offer you some tips on how to look after your purchase over the years. Generally there is little to do however these notes will keep your Neptune furniture in tip top condition. Please also note that our team is always ready and willing to help should you wish to call us for advice. Firstly it is important to note that this is cabinetry handmade in the traditional way with the best in traditional materials. At the same time we also look to the latest technology for any way to improve the performance of our furniture. Thus timber or timber laminates are our considered choice throughout. The great benefit of timber or timber laminates is that it is made up of millions of fibres that give it enormous long-lasting strength. Just think how difficult it is to snap even the smallest of pieces of wood: And the older it gets the stronger it gets, which is why we like real timber. Wherever you place your furniture it will adapt to its environment. And the key factor is moisture. The fibres in timber tend to act like a bundle of tightly bound straws. So in damp conditions timber will “suck up” moisture and in dry conditions lose moisture - even though it is now no longer living. The visible effect of this is that these “straw bundles” expand when the humidity is high and contract when the humidity is low. To accommodate this we work hard to make sure that we construct your cabinets with the timber at a moisture level of 8-10%, which is an average for most homes. Nevertheless in dry conditions you may experience a small amount of shrinkage on some joints, revealing a fine line in the paint. The joint is still 100% strong as we always use a mortice and tenon structure as well as a cross dowel to lock the joint which is also bonded with a two part epoxy. So any such line is purely cosmetic. Should you wish to refinish this we offer a Limestone Finishing Kit, or you can select from one of our other paints for a totally new look. Before you do this we would recommend leaving any such lines for a few months so that you can be sure that any movement has settled. One of the reasons that you may have chosen our furniture is because of our commitment to taking no short-cuts in the design and engineering. Ours are traditionally made cabinets wherever tradition is better. An aspect of this is the full framing and fixed butt hinges that we use. As a result of this, as with all fine furniture, it is important to ensure that your cabinet is set level. Most floors are not level, even though they appear to be! We construct all our cabinets on a preset 100% level sheet of glass. The reason for this is to make sure that each individual door and drawer operates correctly. So if subsequently the cabinet is not on a level floor, the doors and drawers may bind a little. You can fix this by adjusting for level: Either use the traditional method of putting shims under the corners (small coins are very good) or you can order our adjustable legs separately. These can be concealed behind the skirting. Your drawers are very easy to adjust as our Blum runners include adjustment for height incorporated into the front clips. In general daily use your furniture will naturally be subject to knocks and spills. Over time this adds to the character of your furniture. The beauty of old antiques is a combination of their original style and craftsmanship together with the story each piece tells from its marks and variances. Your oak tops are all well sealed, however there is no such thing as a 100% seal. Sealing is a compromise between protecting your furniture and keeping the natural beauty of the timber beneath. We try to strike a reasonable balance. So our recommendation is to wipe up spills as early as possible. For the painted parts (as well as oak parts), we have discovered a wonderful product: The E cloth. This flannel-like cloth consists of literally millions of micro fibres that has an incredible cleaning action. All you need to do is to dampen the cloth and rub any dirty area. With a small amount of effort almost any mark will be removed, including black scuff marks from shoes and so on. We also have a Limestone Finishing Kit should your paint become too damaged. This has everything you need to repair a small area. The key point here is that your furniture is fundamentally really well made, so any surface damage is just that, superficial and can be easily repaired. So you have a few options: allow for graceful aging, refinishing from time to time. Or you can completely update with a new colour and even try some new handles for a completely different look.
