Architectural Position
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply at an architectural position in your firm. My educational background includes two associate degrees from San Antonio College, a bachelor’s degree in architecture from The University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as a master’s degree in architecture. I also have a certificate in historic preservation. I have experience in architectural design, 3-D rendering, site analysis, and collaborating in groups.
I am knowledgeable in applications like Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Microsoft Suites, Adobe Suites, and Enscape. My academic experience from design studio includes designing a mixed-use building, a middle school, a high school, a grocery store, several parks, a class design build project, and a healthcare facility.
I believe that architecture should benefit society, a good design will always have a positive impact on the people who interact with it and inspire them to see the possibilities. Architecture shapes not only the lives of the people who interact with it, but also the environment as well. A job with your firm will further my advancement in my architecture career and will help me grow as a young professional by providing me with valuable work experience. I will continue to learn and grow as I work towards licensure and prove myself.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Sincerely,
Jason R. Stieler

The word “Somos” translates to “we are”. To bring that phrase to life, this project aims at creating a place for the students to be able to identify with and feel a part of. The school’s iconic red becomes a unifying symbol. On this project I worked on developing the program, the floor plans, the renderings, a structural section, wall sections, and two detailed connections.

THE ADVOCATE
MIXED USE AND ADAPTIVE REUSE
Instructor: Angela Lombardi l Team: Jason Pangtay, Chris Robertson l Spring 2022
Location: San Antonio, Texas l Software: Revit, Enscape, Adobe CC
The Advocate is an endeavor for Advocate Boxing, which is an organization that provides affordable housing to lowincome earners. This project creates 30 apartment units, a boxing gym, and amenities for the residents. It features an adaptive reuse of an historical blue house. I worked on developing the floor plans, the elevations, diagrams, and the sections for this project.

Perforated Aluminum Panels
Decorative facade panels are inspired by the West Side culture. They are reminiscent of the murals found throughout the West Side and are our take on the Papal Picado. They draw elements that are important to the client, such as boxing and faith. They also act as wayfinding throughout the building.

Hydroscape is a sustainable education park for the UTSA School of Data Science and National Security. The park features several areas that incorporate sustainable pratices such as hydroponic farming and vertical gardening. On this project, I worked on the design of the pavilion, renderings, and some of the diagrams.

EASTSIDE GROCERY
NEIGHBORHOOD GROCERY STORE
Instructor: James Lewis l Individual l Spring 2020
Location: San Antonio, Texas l Software: Revit, Enscape, Adobe CC
Located on the east side of San Antonio, this neighborhood grocery store seeks to fill the lack of food stores within the area. The design features a micro-orchard, a greenhouse, and a garden that will help teach the community the importance of where their food comes from. A large porch located on the front of the store creates a casual place to hang out.

MONARCH
DESIGN BUILD
Instructor: Darryl Ohlenbusch l Class l Spring 2019
Location: San Antonio, Texas l Software: Revit, Adobe CC
Monarch is an outdoor classroom and pavilion for Green Spaces Alliance located at Bulverde Oaks Nature Preserve. It is inspired by the Monarch butterflies that migrate through South Texas every year. It will provide enough shade for several picnic tables, features a gutter for rainwater collection, and a closet for storing supplies for the classroom.
One of my tasks on the project was to help create the structural footings alongside my team members Rolando Sanchez, Ty Jessie, and Fernanda Saldana. We made shop drawings of the footings for the structure that would be used to create 6 total footings. These drawings would then be passed on to the rest of the class for fabrication. Another two footings were later added to the back of the structure to accommodate a storage closet.

Closet Footings
1) Site model
3) Steel support beams are placed in the footings
41
4) Wooden x-girders are bolted inbetween the steel columns
2) Rebar is placed in preparation for the footings
5) The roof and trellis support beams are placed on top
7) The trellis is installed on both sides
8) Corrugated metal panels installed and the project is finished
42
6) Roof members, the gutter, and the closet are placed
Another one of my tasks on the project was to work on the design and installation of the trellis panels. Working with my partner, Allya Heitz, we worked on making a jig that would place the cut conduits to their proper place. Each jig would hold several conduits and would fit on top of the trellis support beams on each side of the pavilion. Once the jigs were fabricated, they were transported to the site for installation, leaving just the roof panels to complete the project.

ADDITIONAL WORKS
GRAPHIC VISUALIZATION
Instructor: Arwen Edwards l Individual l Fall 2020
Location: San Antonio, Texas l Software: Rhino, Adobe CC
Additional works from graphic visualization class. We were asked to map out our “quarantine space” to create a 3D representation of a typical day in that space. We then created masses in Rhino and used Adobe Illustrator to make several different images.
