The aim of the project was to develop a Design based upon a set constraint of a shape confined by the volume of a 4 inch cube. The challenge was to create an abstract form using a variation of points, lines, plans. The design was represented in graphic and physical form. The design focuses on an articulation of connecting lines to a series of plans, giving a interconnected sense of space to each cardinal direction.

02
The aim of the project was to take a single sheet of 8.5x11 inch paper and create a conceptual design representing a design principle. The paper could be modified by any means seen fit, albeit the original volume of paper had to remain the same. The design principle that was chosen for this project was symmetry. Symmetry is a balanced distribution of equivalent forms and spaces about a common line. Through a multitude of experimentation, a form was developed in which the paper was folded, cut perpendicular to fold, unfolded, and rolled into a arc. The slits in the paper were pushed in to get symmetrical positive and negative space.

The objective of this project was to design a structure for a famous client - alive, dead, or fictionalthat was based upon aspects from their lives. The client chosen was the her from Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey, Odysseus. The final structure was inspired by his exhaustive ten year journey home after the Trojan War. The journey throughout the structure allows for various forced perspectives to reflect back on past trials and tribulations.

The Toledo Urbanism project was a group project tasked with taking an under utilized area of the a downtown Toledo district, the warehouse district and design a solution to make the area more useful to residents and visitors to downtown. The new area is a performing arts center and public space that design is inspired by the juxtaposition of the urban grid as it progress from the business district to the warehouse district. The juxtaposition of the geometry of the new Performing arts center and glass facade cultivates curiosity by allowing passersby to be able to view the performances. The canopy on the rear of the structure creates a gateway to the center and acts a forced perspective to the river which lay just beyond the pedestrian overpass connected the center to the other features design by group members.
