International Business Program Offers Both Basic and Specific Business Knowledge Did you know that if you have an interest in business; have already completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or are a mature student (19 years or older); and possess English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent and Mathematics Grade 11 or 12 C, M or U, or equivalent or are willing to take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission and the Centennial College Math Skills Assessment for Admission, you may have the opportunity to launch an international career? As one of the respected International Business programs in Toronto, Centennial College’s Business – International Business undertaking aims to offer students, in just a matter of two years, the skills they will need to enjoy a wide range of careers. For example, grads may work as customs compliance analysts, import/export documentation specialists, global logistics assistants and inside sales representatives. Additionally, successful grads are not limited to one area. They are fully prepared to launch careers in the areas of manufacturing and production, retail and distribution, transportation or work as part of a consulting firm. The focus of the International Business program is two-fold. First, it ensures that students have a solid overview of the business world. Taught during these courses are concepts such as financial accounting concepts (demonstrates the use of accounting information to make better judgments and decisions about the organization); human resources management (introduces the functional areas of HRM and applies acquired concepts and terminology to solve problems related to the effective human resource management in organizations); strategies for business success (includes time management, listening and note-taking, making the most of studying from textbooks, communicating effectively, test preparation, effective use of college resources, and use of the Internet as a research tool); and more. Secondly, the program presents a range of Centennial College's International Business Courses that include both practical and lectured-based aspects. Instructors have been employed in the field and enhance students’ learning through anecdotes from their own careers, advice based on experience as well as networking opportunities. These experienced faculty members guide students through courses such as International Marketing, Global Logistics, Customs Services and Compliance, Principles of Macroeconomics, International Business Concepts and more. In addition to being able to launch careers in entry-level positions, students may also choose to apply their Centennial credits towards a degree with universities with which the college has forged educational partnerships, including: Algoma University, Athabasca University, University of New Brunswick, University of Ontario Institute of Technology and University of Windsor.
