Beta Version Of YouTube Go App Goes Live In India
Last year, in September Google, announced that they will launch a new version of youtube called “YouTube Go”. The app aims on connecting India’s next billion people to the internet. After months of testing, Google’s YouTube GO beta is now available in India and can be downloaded from the play store. It is approximately 7 MB in size. YouTube Go app is meant to combat the daily data connectivity problems.
In the era of a super-high 4G network, India is still known for its unsteady internet connection. So, this app is designed to work on slower connections. YouTube Go app is a lighter version of the YouTube app, allowing users to choose the video resolution and data size to watch or save a video for offline viewing. YouTube Go app reduces the data usage while streaming videos and downloading the preferred videos. This new app is designed to load and stream videos seamlessly even in the 2G network, which makes it faster and better. Google is trying to enhance the

● Revamped home screen
The highlight of the Youtube Go app is that the home screen features recommendations, trending and popular videos from your area. You can also discover the videos viewed by your connections.
● Preview videos
Confused whether to watch or download a certain movie or not? YouTube go makes it easier for you. When you tap on a thumbnail, you will get a brief look at the video. You can then judge if the movie is worth watching or not.
● Choose video resolution
YouTube Go’s tagline is “Mazze Udao, Data Nahi”. It enables the users to choose resolution while saving or streaming videos. However, there are no high definition (720p or 1080p) videos available. The maximum resolution is 640p. It also allows you to choose the amount of data you want to spend on videos.
● Video sharing with friends
Youtube Go introduces the coolest features, it lets you share the videos with your nearby friends, that too without using any data. Your friend should also have YouTube Go app on his/her phone. To find friends near you, you need to keep your Bluetooth on. The app uses WiFi direct.
