rising star ANGELA STANCIL

A New Home and Career

By Michelle Williamson

Angela Stancil, an agent and member of Team Davidow with Coldwell Banker Vanguard, didn’t enter real estate the usual way. In fact, she didn’t expect to become an agent at all. After earning two master’s degrees, one in elementary education and the other in administration, she expected a lifelong career in K-12 education. Angela began teaching at the K-12 level then she took on an assistant principal role in the 16th largest school district in the nation in her hometown of Raleigh, NC. Her plans were progressing smoothly.

Five years ago, however, a job opportunity in Jacksonville emerged for her husband, Lonnie, that became the catalyst for the family’s move to Florida and Angela’s new real estate career path. “We decided we needed a change of location and pace,” shares Angela. The couple and their two young children, now eight-year-old Isabella and five-year-old Brody, left their Raleigh hometown for Jacksonville. And today, not only do the Stancils love their Florida life, Angela has a whole new thriving real estate career she absolutely cherishes.

“I expected to remain in education,” Angela reflects on her career transition. “I never thought anything else would fit into my heart and life the way education did, until real estate fell into my lap,” she recalls.

An Emerging REALTOR®

The relocation company the Stancils worked with as they prepared for their Jacksonville move introduced them to Aimee Davidow, REALTOR®, team lead of Team Davidow with Coldwell Banker Vanguard Fleming Island. “From the first moment Aimee and I met, we hit it off,” says Angela. “We connected in a way I can’t describe.”

Angela’s entrance into real estate came from the pair’s emerging friendship and Angela’s quick immersion into the real estate sector.

The Stancils’ children were young when they moved, so Angela was unsure of entering the workforce again. “Aimee asked if I wanted to help with social media management and behind-thescenes paperwork,” Angela says. “She was growing faster than she could handle on her own, and the opportunity was perfect. I could work at home on my own time.”

Quickly, Angela found she thrived in the role, and her responsibilities kept expanding. Before long, Angela became Aimee’s personal assistant and was helping with as much of the business as she could. “I treated Aimee’s business like it was my own company,” she says. “During this time, I had an incredible opportunity to learn the business backward—from the business standpoint. I truly attest my success to that experience. Not only did I learn the business side first, I learned it from Aimee, someone who cares about her people, about her name, about Coldwell Banker Vanguard’s name, about the community, about making relationships for life, not just handling transactions. Her view on life matched my view so seamlessly. People, families, overcoming obstacles, and success stories were my life before real estate, it just so happens that is also my life now in real estate.”

Angela’s responsibilities continued to grow until the only next move was for Angela to get her real estate license. She received the license in March 2019 then started standing in at home inspections, opening doors for potential buyers, and before long Angela became the newest member of Team Davidow.

I wouldn’t be here, though, without

Yet even with her prior experience, “being a REALTOR® was difficult at first for me,” Angela remembers. “Being new here and finding my sphere’s support took a little bit,” she says. “Once I finally found my niche and secured my first closing, the gates just opened, and I haven’t looked back. I wouldn’t be here, though, without the support of my team. We are a collective group of six strong women, moms who love to learn and grow. We bring out the best in each other.”

Helping Families Find Home

Having done so herself, Angela understands the relocation experience and the needs of families moving into a new city and state. She works mostly with incoming families. “I love helping families find the right area,” says Angela. “As we were searching for our new home in a place we knew nothing about, our real estate agent provided tours of many different areas.”

“I remember driving through two areas and tears filled my eyes. It wasn’t right. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the areas, but neither was right for us. When we toured Fleming Island, where we now live, from the second we drove over the bridge, I knew it would be our new home. I can’t describe it in words, but it was right, and I knew it in an instant,” she smiles.

“I want to duplicate this feeling for my customers.”

Angela knows finding a new home can be stressful, especially for individuals and families moving into the greater Jacksonville area from other states. “I always strive to help customers discover that feeling of home. Everyone deserves that peace.”
