Further your jazz education and refine your chops at this FREE masters class clinic with Ulysses Owens, Jr. and Grace Kelly. Aspiring and accomplished jazz musicians of all ages are invited to learn and grow their skills in an intimate setting at none other than Jacksonville’s historic Ritz Theatre and Museum.

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own instruments. Parents with children attending the clinic are welcome to enjoy the museum’s amenities while they wait.

Ulysses Owens, Jr. • 10-11 a.m.

Two-time GRAMMY Award winner, Ulysses Owens, Jr. has established himself as a leader in his generation of jazz artists, admired for his sensitive, fiery and complex playing, vivid display of textural nuance, and gift for propelling a band with charisma and integrity.

Owens remains tightly connected to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida where his family founded Don’t Miss a Beat, Inc., a non-profit organization empowering young people to dream big and give back to their communities through a blend of musical, artistic, academic, and civic engagement programming.

Grace Kelly • 11 a.m. – noon

Singer, saxophonist, and composer Grace Kelly wrote her first song at seven years old, recorded her first album at 12, orchestrated and performed her original composition with the Boston Pops Orchestra at 14, and performed at President Obama’s Inauguration at age 16. Kelly, a multiple award winner as an alto sax player, has performed and/or recorded with Harry Connick Jr, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Esperanza Spalding, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods, Ron Carter, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Huey Lewis and Gloria Estefan to name a few.
