2D Art Identity ASSIGNMENT 1

In our first assignment, each of us will be given a Lego character. We will then have to create a geometric artwork using new knowledge about design elements, design principles and rules & method.

02

4

Through the research, not only understand the Lego character is needed, familiarize with the design elements & principles, rules & methods is important too.

PROCESS

With the purpose of extracting and identifying these basics designs rules in order to interpret and translate the Lego character into a geometric artwork.

5

Design Rules : Design Elements, Design Principles, Rules & Methods, Composition

Explanation Board of Final Artwork The thick lines [Purple, Blue, Yellow] is to represent his personalities. The red circle represent his sister. The black circle is to show her sister’s grief to him as he is already dead.

Dark blue is main power, the rest of blue triangle is the side powers.

Final Artwork using colour

It was hard for me at first, because I was struggling with translate information into artwork, but with Mr.Hazazi’s help, I eventually figured it out. Not only setting works is important, communicate with experts will help you to widen your imagination too, of course, we must do our own research.

OUTCOME

The main Keyword is Power. To show power, I use triangle + repetition to introduce his power [Superhuman Speed], to create movement.

For this assignment, we have to transform our artwork into varieties of 3D models in a group, so we must sum up our teammates' information of character to create a theme for 3D models.

Through the research, we had decided our main theme/keyword, which is ESCTASY. It contains four of our character’s information, Speed and Intelligent.

3D Entity Transformation ASSIGNMENT 2

GROUP WORK ----

PROCESS

We use Ecstasy to be our theme because ecstasy are illegal dose for mental and physical purpose, such as logical brain and charisma speed. We were lost when we could not link the keyword and to transfer the tower, causing us keeps changing our ideas. Within weeks, we were way behind the schedule. Still, Mr. Azam encourage us and help us a lot in giving opinions of our towers and ideas.

I have learnt that team spirit is very important, it is the key to hold the whole group.

OUTCOME

At last, We decided to use fluorescence colour with a black base as 1st skin and add mini balls to create an ecstatic movement as our final model.

04 Identity Tower Final Assignment Based our previous assignment, we were asked to improve our previous 3D models and make a new / an upgraded tower to create a Toy Display Set for our Lego character for our final assignment. Toy Display Set include : Background, Base, Tower, Lego Character Main Keyword : Power 9

To show power + speed, I use various shapes + repetition or folding to create a movement on the tower.

Re-considerate tower approach after seeing Mr. Yoong’s comment. Did an in-depth research about force, lightning, speed light and power.

PROCESS I use a folding method to create a stairs with geometric form. To create movement and allows Quicksilver to run. I use different angles of triangles + repetition to create speed-like. To represent Quicksilver’s power [Superhuman Speed]

I make the base pointy purposely to make it harder for enemy to go up and easier for Quicksilver to entry as he can run every fast.

OUTCOME

SPPED TRAINING

A clear top for Quicksilver to observe the city and enjoy the forest. Special function : It glows in the night, as Quicksilver have ablue aura while he runs. Setting : In the middle of city and forest of Sokovia [His country] To protect and prepare himself in the training tower. I choose to use different tones of blue to represent Quicksilver. His eyes is blue, so does his blue aura and uniform.

Design Process Journal [DPJ] Pieces of A4 sized Design Process Journal complete with 13 weeks' worth of recordings of research ideas and design idea processes, embellished with individual researches of assigned toy character.

There are total 3 sets of DPJs goes within the same time as 3 different assignments to help in idea developing. Start with research on my own assigned character, Quicksilver, then create a geometric artwork, using his significant information, his power, personality, characteristics and biography.

05

DPJ01

DPJ02 Given with assignment 2, we have to figured out the setting of the tower then create 2 photomontage to it. Montage #1 Tower: To represent speed. Setting: To associated with ecstatic feeling and create movement.

Montage #2 Tower: Training tower to train himself in the building without any interference. Setting: To associated with ecstatic feeling and giving a sense of peace.

DPJ03 Re-think and Refine the function and the design approach of the tower.

From the beginning of this DPJ03, I studied about eccentric building/paper tower/object, trying to find the most suitable/inspirational building that can represent force and speed. 12

Background and History of Kuching

Typology of Building in Chosen Area

Since I am from Kuching Sarawak and it does not have a specific town, so I have created my own border line. Eventually, I choose to do Kenyalang Park, where my childhood is being built.
