It’s a new year and, for me, a truly

new chapter in the book of Kos. 15 years ago, with a passion for all things beautiful and colorful, I opened up shop on Lexington Avenue. Eight years ago, the store moved to Park Avenue and 57th Street. Now, in 2011, the Jay Kos boutique will move downtown to a space in SoHo in order to continue for the brand to grow. Uptown has been good to us, but I’m at a creative part in life that is telling me to move downtown, where I can better service that fire. The new Jay Kos boutique will be anything but new, but in a word “evolved.” Recently, a customer came into the shop and said to me “Oh my God, Jay you’ve completely changed!” I answered him by saying “No, I haven’t - you just stayed the same…” To some, that might be semantics but to me, it’s just really important to constantly evolve. We are all, at best as we are aware, only here to play the game once, and with that in mind, one needs to repeatedly find themselves... either as an artist, a parent, a friend, or just a student of life. I express this to you because so many people ask me if the vision is still going to be “Jay Kos”… Of course anything and everything I touch is — just a transformative version of it.

You will still see the familiar corduroy pants, the beautifully tailored cashmere jackets in brightly patterned designs, handcrafted fur felt hats, but with new exciting items that will help feed my creative fix, which will hopefully help you feed yours. Also, within the evolution of the brand will be the introduction of a Jay Kos perfume. My friend, and one of the world’s premier noses, Rodrigo, and I have been working on a unique scent. With vetiver as the major note alongside other secret spices, it will be quite special. The process is as incredible as will be the final product. Each time we wait for the new formula to cure, we get closer and closer to the story that I am trying to tell. The website has taken on an evolved look and the blog has transformed into a magazine, “Foodashion,” that will continue to explore and embrace food and fashion. We at the Jay Kos store look forward to inviting you soon to experience the new SoHo location. We will announce the location soon, but in the meantime, we are still at 475 Park Avenue and will soon be moving into a temporary location, also to be announced. Happy New Year and Happy Foodashion!
