India

To call India diverse is an understatement on a grand scale, though even the boldest and most extravagant descriptions fail to capture the many different facets of this country.

Rich in history, India has quite a lot to offer the curious traveller. The grand palaces, mosques, temples, forts and monuments, not to mention the greatest of them all – the Taj Mahal – are among the most exquisite examples of architecture to be found anywhere in the world. There are natural wonders too, from the snow-capped Himalayas in the north to the peaceful backwaters of Kerala in the south.

In the world’s second most populous nation, you’ll find a bewildering mixture of cultures and religions, with Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains living cheek by jowl. Each has their own language and calendar of festivals and cultural events. It’s small wonder then that hardly a day goes by without some kind of celebration in this most colourful of countries. The cities, such as Delhi and Mumbai, are among the most vibrant, colourful and exciting in Asia and are well-equipped with modern facilities that make India a wonderful destination for business events, allowing work to combine with pleasure.

The hotel has an ideal location in Connaught Place, the city’s main commercial, shopping and office district, and is minutes from government offices, international trade fair grounds, cultural and tourist attractions and shopping malls.

Indonesia

In Southeast Asia, the image of paradise is epitomised in Bali, with the fitting description of “Island of the Gods. It is an island of artistic people and elegant temples, stunning scenery, palm groves, beach resorts and diving.

It is Indonesia’s number one tourist destination and with good reason: Bali has long been considered by many to be their perfect Paradise Island, an isle that is deep and intriguing, lush and tropical. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean lap at beautiful beaches and palm trees sway in the breeze. Nearby, you may find the spectacular Mother Temple of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung, the ancient capital at Singaraja, and the floating palace of Ujung. Some of the best surfing beaches in the world can be found on the western side of the island, while the eastern side is a wonderful haven for those seeking tranquility, with beautiful white sand beaches and gentle seas.

Art is also an integral part of daily life in Bali and every village has its artists, from the internationally-acclaimed painter to the aspirational young cow herder. Ubud, the cultural centre, with its streets lined with art and crafts shops, also has performances of traditional Balinese dance and music.

Korea

It’s just as well that its capital city has a moniker that sounds like “soul”. Indeed, sprawling Seoul is South Korea’s undisputed cultural, economic and political centre. Explore Seoul, and you will understand the soul of the Korean peninsula.

In recent decades Seoul has reared its commercial head from obscurity, becoming an Asian metropolis that no self-respecting world traveller can ignore. Seoul is full of surprises, revealing a city of towering skyscrapers and sleek highways that preserves a hidden treasure-trove of ancient palaces, temples, pagodas and beautiful gardens.

The city lies in a basin bisected by the Han River, with the surrounding mountains contributing to the natural beauty of the area. The old Joseon Dynasty city with its central main palace is now the traditional downtown heart of Seoul, where many of the most popular sights, hotels and markets are to be found. One of the most popular areas for visitors to explore is Insa-dong, filled with antique shops, art galleries, traditional teahouses, restaurants and bookshops. Across the Han River, the modern city is dominated by Korea’s World Trade Centre and the COEX Mall, a shopper’s delight. Eating out is a feast for the senses in Seoul, with an enormous international variety to choose from, whether it is succulent steak, perfect pizza, multicourse gourmet, tasty tandoori or even perhaps classic Korean.

COEX INTERCONTINENTAL SEOUL

COEX InterContinental Seoul is located at the Korea World trade Center complex, Korea’s one-stop business destination. Guests can conveniently access the World Trade Center, COEX Convention and Exhibition Center, City Air Terminal, COEX duty free shop, 16 theaters and COEX Mall. With the Grand InterContinental Seoul only 400 metres away, guests can use services and facilities at either hotels and conveniently settle the bill at one location.

Malaysia

Malaysia is home to the tallest skyscraper in Southeast Asia. Aside from the gleaming Petronas Twin Towers, though, Malaysia boasts some of the most superb beaches, mountains and national parks in the region.

Malaysia is a country with two distinct parts. Peninsula Malaysia constitutes the long strip of land that borders Thailand and Singapore. The South China Sea separates the mainland from the East Malaysian provinces of Sabah and Sarawak, where adventurous visitors may explore dense jungles that support abundant plant and wildlife, or scale the highest peak in Southeast Asia – Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.

It is the Peninsula that seems to attract the most visitors, probably because of the diversity it offers in the way of people, activities and climates. The highland regions offer cool relief from the clinging humidity of the mainland, while Langkawi is the popular choice for sand and surf enthusiasts. The east coast, particularly the northern Kelantan province, offers the chance for an interesting cultural exploration of traditional Malay life. The west coast is favoured for historical interest, and is where Malaysia’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur is found. Here, old and new co-exist, and ethnically diverse cultures share the same landscape to create a fusion of cultural styles, cuisines and religions that is distinctly Malaysian.

CROWNE PLAZA MUTIARA KUALA LUMPUR

A monorail station at the entrance of the hotel ensures quick access to other parts of Kuala Lumpur.

New Zealand

New Zealand is a fascinating place to visit with its blend of Maori and European history. There are vast open spaces, exquisite beaches and volcanoes – breathtaking scenery wherever you go.

Fresh air, breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities are the main attractions of New Zealand, which consists of two major islands with surprisingly different characters. The North Island has dramatic volcanic landscapes and highly active thermal areas, long stretches of beautiful beaches and excellent sailing, ancient indigenous forests and a strong Maori cultural influence. The South Island has a slower pace of life dominated by a magnificent spine of mountains, the snow-covered Southern Alps, and the spectacular scenery of the southern waterways of the fjordlands, with glaciers, deep lakes and verdant forests.

New Zealand offers a huge variety of action-packed and laid back activities, from bungy jumping to skiing, swimming with dolphins, scenic flights and boat cruises on the fjords, as well as several worldfamous walking trails with unrivalled scenery – including the set for ”The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy in Taranaki. Alternatively you can immerse yourself in culture at the museums and galleries of the country’s main cities – Auckland and the capital Wellington in the North, and Christchurch and Queenstown in the south.

Multicultural Singapore is a modern city-state embracing economic progress against the backdrop of age-old tradition. With gleaming

call to prayer and the click of mahjong tiles, the city presents a great opportunity to savour a range of different Asian cultures.

Singapore

skyscrapers and colonial buildings co-existing with the Muslim

An island off the southern tip of Malaysia, Singapore has evolved from a sleepy fishing village in the early 1900s to become one of Asia’s economic leaders. Today’s Singapore is a true melting pot, home to people of Chinese, Malaysian and Indian descent, with a significant population of non-citizen residents from countries as diverse as Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the US, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

A shopping haven, Singapore offers an ever-increasing number of shopping opportunities that suit every budget and taste. Futuristic shopping malls host branded high-tech gadgets and designer apparel at tempting prices, while traditional shophouses and street markets in Bugis Street, Chinatown, Little India and Geylang Serai are havens for trinkets, traditional handmade crafts as well as herbs and spices that can make unique presents. Singapore’s cultural diversity is very much reflected in the variety of local food it has to offer – Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and much more – and these can be sampled affordably in hawker centres, air-conditioned foodcourts and kopitiams (local coffeehouses) or in upscale restaurants. Despite its relative small size, Singapore has an amazing number of attractions, including the award-winning Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, a wide variety of museums and world-class nightspots.

INTERCONTINENTAL SINGAPORE

The award winning InterContinental Singapore showcases an unrivalled celebration of Singapore’s rich heritage with its distinctive Peranakan architecture, elegant interiors and a contemporary Tower for those who prefer to stay in colonial-style rooms. The architecture is inviting, enhanced by the eclectic fusion of Peranakanstyle arches, custom-made sofas and chairs in the Shophouse Rooms and in the public areas of the hotel. The Lobby Lounge, offering an intimate ambiance, enhanced by majestic pillars and a high ceiling, sets the tone for the hotel.

From idyllic, unspoilt beaches with turquoise seas and pure, white sands to bustling cities sporting exotic markets and a vibrant, colourful nightlife, it is easy to see why Thailand has become one of the most popular destinations in the region. Thailand

It’s nicknamed the “Land of Smiles” – and with good reason. The friendliness of the people in Thailand is one of the many thrills you’ll get when you visit this country. Also, there’s plenty of other reasons to smile about; from the white sand beaches of the south to Chiang Mai’s alluring golden temples and tangled rainforests, where hill tribes still live as they have for centuries. Then, there’s the exotic whirlwind of Bangkok. Also known as the “City of Angels”, Bangkok’s attractions are twofold. First, there is the modern, cosmopolitan side, with its Skytrain zipping people between swanky malls, cinema multiplexes, world-class restaurants, glitzy clubs and some of the world’s best hotels. This area rivals other modern cities, absorbing as it does the latest of both East and West. But it’s the ancient city and Thai hospitality, the heart and soul of the country, which really sets Bangkok apart. The Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho and other places worth visiting will leave you with nothing but unique long-lined memories.
