A Home for Jack

Jack came to us when his owners surrendered him due to a divorce. Through no fault of his own, Jack found himslef without a home. Although scared at first, Jack soon warmed up to us, eager for treats, cuddles, and kisses. A one-year-old Black Lab, Border Collie, Chow mix, Jack plays really well with kids, though we would suggest limiting his play with children under eight years of age, mainly due to his large size.

Through interactions with our other fosters, we’ve learned that he doesn’t do well with other animals, but would improve with more socialization activities. He is also partially trained and an eager learner. A ball of energy, Jack answers to his name and can sit, but is working on heeling on walks and learning not to beg for table scraps Jack is looking for his forever home with an active, loving family. Take him home with you today!

Commands

Potty Training

Training classes are highly recommended to learn basic commands like “sit” and “heel” and for their socializing aspect. Take advantage of programs in your community.

Successful potty depends on confinement, training, timing, and praise. Always use your leash and words in order to train. Using terms like “outside” can be useful cues to your dog.

Exercise

Quality Time

Destructive behavior is often due to boredom and pent-up energy. Active breeds require 30 minutes of exercise a day. Lab mixes in particular enjoy hiking and swimming.

Dogs are pack animals animals. They get energy from being with their people. Take the time to cuddle, pet, and love your animal. Studies show that you’ll benefit as well!
