Module Brief Title: Product, Range & Distribution
STUDIO BRIEF 1: Project Proposal Project Rationale Project Rationale. (what do you intend to do and why?)
A series of six 3D illustrations in response to six chosen music tracks that will then be used as part of an album launch. The main deliverable will be six vinyl album covers, which will then be applied to appropriate products and promotional material. This brief allows for exploration of 3D illustration and image making focusing on the theme of music distribution. Additional application will include some GIFs that would be used as moving album artwork, posters, merchandise and advertisements.
THEMES / SUBJECTS What Themes/Subjects will form the content of your work for this module? This should include Theoretical and non- creative based content and concerns. This section should identify your consideration of the social, cultural, ethical and creative concerns of contemporary practice GENERAL THEMES: Music branding and promotion alongside emotional response and advertising distribution.
SPECIFIC SUBJECTS: 3D animal character design, album artwork, indie // ambient // lofi music
PRACTICAL & CONCEPTUAL APPLICATION What areas of Illustration do you intend to investigate in relation to the practical and conceptual, production / distribution of work in response to selected briefs. SPECIFIC DISCIPLINARY AREA: Product and packaging, specifically for music branding and promotion. Using 3D illustration the context of album artwork. Moving album artwork to look into future expansions of context. AUDIENCE/CONTEXTS: For album launch and later sales of albums themselves. People with an interest in specifically lofi//ambient and indie music. Students // vinyl collectors // people into contemporary illustration in a music format. PRODUCTION / DISTRIBUTION METHODS:
Six album covers // net designs Promotional material for launch eg badges, stickers, poster cards, posters ect Merchandise eg t-shirts, tote bags, jumpers, hoodies Advertising eg street posters, billboards, YouTube advertisements Distributed through the album launch itself (in store) as well as online release and website with merchandise ect for sale Advertised through street signs, YouTube advertisements ect CONTEXTUAL REFERENCES Identify areas of professional/creative practices that will inform the contextualization of the work that you produce. This should include specific illustrators, studios, practitioner’s and products as well as broader creative disciplines and methods of Production / Distribution.
