Jazz Promotion Network is an organisation dedicated to sharing best practice for professional and volunteer jazz promoters in the British Isles. Since 2013, JPN has developed into a formal network of more than 80 organisations and individual members from across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Our mission is to encourage, promote and support the development of opportunities for organisers, audiences, and artists in the realm of jazz and related music.

The Jazz Promotion Network aims to: • Support the development of skills and opportunities for artists and promoters. • Facilitate and enable collaborations, partnerships and communications with other organisations in the British Isles and internationally. • Support and link with education and participation activity in jazz at all levels. • Contribute to advocacy and awareness of jazz and related music to encourage growth in the jazz ecology and develop new audiences.


Example Projects: #jazz100 Focused on jazz in the UK and Ireland, the #jazz100 campaign highlights will launch the next 100 years of British and Irish jazz, celebrating the diversity and energy of jazz today and the story of jazz music and culture. Centred around the hashtag #jazz100, the campaign will unite the jazz industry, inspire existing fans and introduce new audiences to the music.

JPN’s Emerging Talent JPN’s Emerging Talent project aims to give a major opportunity to young bands emerging from jazz courses in UK. Two existing bands consisting of recent graduates will tour in a double bill format on a 5-day tour.

International Showcasing Through our JPN board network, conversations are ongoing with several partners at international showcasing events, facilitating the export of British artists across Europe. Our long-term strategy aims to establish a more structured approach to facilitating international touring by British bands.

Going Dutch Going Dutch is a celebration of Dutch music and culture through the import of Dutch jazz musicians from the across the Netherlands to the UK. This program is in partnership with Dutch Performing Arts.

Aaron & The Argonauts Originally a garage band duo, the Argonauts met at Covent Garden Opera House while they were performing in Carlos Acosta’s Cubania. They grew into a multinational collective of master musicians & singers. Fusing classic jazz funk sensibilities with twists of Cuban, Brazilian & Jamaican traditions and modern electronica. Alex Webb Copasetic Foundation The Copasetic Foundation is a non-profit event producer and project creator specialising in jazz and jazz/theatre/spoken word projects. Andre Canniere Acclaimed US trumpeter and composer Andre Canniere, currently based in the UK, has been described as one of the most compelling artists on the current London jazz scene. Ethereal World

Ethereal World was conceived as both an ensemble and as a club night bringing together some of the UK’s finest improvising soloists drawn from cross-cultural jazz, experimental, free improv and classical music. Curated by flautist Rowland Sutherland and vibist Jackie Walduck, line-ups have included; Evan Parker, Orphy Robinson, Poulomi Desai, and Jason Yarde. EW often performs independently away from its own club night. The Ethereal World club is mobile and can function at any venue and has collaborates with DJ Gordon Wedderburn. Hackney Colliery Band

HCB have had a simply phenomenal few years. From reaching number 3 in the jazz charts to live sessions on BBC Two, from a residency at Ronnie Scott’s to headline shows at London’s Koko, and tours even taking in the Faroe Islands, these east London musicians haven’t stopped. Huw V Williams

London based bass player and composer Huw V Williams has performed internationally with world-class musicians; such as Jim Black, Huw Warren, Michael Blake, Jason Rebello and Ivo Neame. He has been making a name for himself on the London jazz and improvised music scene, having released his critically acclaimed debut album “HON”, described by The Guardian as “swaggering infectious energy”. Ian Shaw BBC Jazz award-winning vocalist Ian Shaw is described as one of the most distinctive, original and creative jazz singers that the UK has produced, as well as being a talented pianist, song writer, broadcaster and record producer. Taupe Taupe are a UK trio, based between Newcastle, Edinburgh and Manchester, specialising in razor-sharp polyrhythmic play, exploratory improvisation and raw, high energy live performance. Tom Hewson Essence, Tom Hewson’s second album for Italian label CAM Jazz, arrives October 2017. Tom was invited to the home of Bösendorfer pianos in Vienna to record a solo collection featuring his own music and pieces by Charles Mingus, Kenny Wheeler and the late John Taylor, who described his playing and composing as “ravishing”, “daring” and “sublime”.
