Leaving takes serious planning, making adjustments Military transition awareness
Whether you are leaving next month, in three years, or in 25 years, you will eventually hang up the uniform. Have you considered your exit strategy? Many service members don't know where or how to begin. What are your priorities: a high-income career, location, proximity to family, managing people? Most members have never completed an interest profiler, conducted career exploration, written a resume, interviewed for a job, or heard the term "Labor Market Information." In order to build an effective plan, you should begin now by discussing your military departure with those impacted by your separation or retirement - your family and loved ones. Be sure to involve your family in every step of the process. Invite your spouse to attend the “Transition Goals, Plans, Success” workshop or one of the additional two-day workshops with you. With proper planning your transition from the military will be a successful one. Take advantage of all that our transition center has to offer... your success and your family's future depends on it! Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center, (843) 963-4406, or the Fleet and Family Support Center, (843) 794-7480, for transition assistance or more information about other helpful programs.
