Holistic Theory + Approach

01

Golden, Colorado Fifth Year Thesis Project (In Progress) An approach to life through the connection of 3 parts: the mind, body and spirit. Through this technique known as holistic health, the 3 aforementioned elements focus on rehabilitation, relaxation and finding a state of equanimity. The study of therapy and counseling sessions yoga/meditative spaces massage therapy hydrotherapy How can architecture aid the user in the creation of a comfortable environment? How can movement and rhythm through the project create meaning out of the large programmatic spaces and help choreograph a path for individuals through transitional spaces? How can one use materiality to dictate programmatic spaces from one another or to evoke feeling through temperature-based conditions?

The project site is located in Golden, Colorado, just 30 minutes away from the heart of Denver. With surrounding mountains and easy accessibility from neighboring areas, the project location is situated at a meeting point between the built and the unbuilt in the hopes of letting individuals step away from the city and take a step towards the natural landscape.

Vignettes of collagestyle illustrations and the respective, initial watercolor studies investigating moments of transition before entering the main, conceptual spaces of the program. Humans are the subject. The architecture is meant to create a feeling of comfort for individuals seeking holistic care and therapy in a comfortable manner.
