An Innovative Way to Prepare Nurses for Leadership and Health Care Challenges DOCTOR of NURSING PRACTICE

In response to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) decision to move the level of preparation necessary for advanced practice nursing from the master’s degree to the doctorate level, Jones & Bartlett Learning has created a sample curriculum that supports the AACN’s “Essentials of Doctoral Education” document. We have partnered with authors, subject matter experts, and clinicians to create content and resources that follow a typical Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Below is an overview of the sample curriculum and the corresponding Jones & Bartlett Learning textbooks utilized in each course. In addition we are currently developing a a suite of 12 online courses that comprise a complete online DNP curriculum and that map to Jones & Bartlett Learning content and solutions. These online courses are available individually to enhance student learning outcomes as a suite or collectively for a total curriculum solution. The DNP curriculum can be made accessible through an existing Learning Management System (LMS), or through the Jones & Bartlett Learning-hosted online environment. PATHOPHYSIOLOGY & MEDICAL-SURGICAL

Pathophysiology A Practical Approach

Lachel Story, PhD, RN, The University of Southern Mississippi Pathophysiology—a key piece in the foundation of nursing clinical education—is often an insurmountable barrier for students, overwhelming them with copious amounts of complicated information. Pathoyphysiology: A Practical Approach is the practical guide that faculty and students have been asking for. Combined with dynamic technology solutions, this exciting new text gives students a firm understanding of the topic and prepares them for an increasingly complex work environment. “I was so excited to see the manageable size of this book! Even more, once I opened the book and started to look through it, I was ready to sit down and start reading it. You can tell Dr. Story wrote this book with her students in mind.” —W. McNelis, Nursing Student “I wanted to let you know how thrilled I am with Navigate eFolio for Pathophysiology! Within just one hour (and a follow-up phone call a few hours later) I was able to edit the content for my course and get up and running. Customer support was knowledgeable, patient and excellent in their instruction of this product. I am using a similar competitor product for my Microbiology course and it just doesn’t have the flexibility and functionality of Navigate.” — Instructor, Eastern Gateway Community College “This book is long overdue and represents a new approach to one of the most difficult courses for students in the BSN curriculum. Dr. Story has abandoned the idea that physiology must be tedious and boring to be effectively taught. Dr. Story’s empowerment pedagogy works in what many thought could not be done with physiology.”
