TESTING OPTIONS COMPREHENSIVE EXAMS 200 question, full-length summative exams assess the breadth of the comprehensive curriculum. The fully secured and proctored exams follow the National Registry of EMTs Task Analysis blueprint. This way, exams can map the number of airway, pediatric, cardiac arrest, and other questions to the reality of what providers experience in the field. 97% OF STUDENTS WHO PASS THE FISDAP COMPREHENSIVE EXAM PASS THE NREMT COGNITIVE EXAM ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT.
UNIT EXAMS To prepare students for a challenging comprehensive exam, Fisdap Unit Exams provide educator insights during the formative stages of the course. By finding knowledge gaps early, educators can remediate throughout the course.
STUDY TOOLS Study Tools provide students an opportunity to gain additional exposure to test questions. Whereas other Fisdap exams are secure and must be administered in a proctored environment, Study Tools is an independent TestPrep tool for students offering quizzes and practice tests. These test questions allow students to review their attempts and test questions. Subject matter experts have annotated feedback to help students think critical about test questions.
ENTRANCE EXAM FOR PARAMEDIC STUDENTS This unique exam can be used to evaluate applicants as an admissions tool or to perform a diagnostic analysis of a new student cohort. The Entrance Exam looks at five areas of cognitive aptitude: anatomy, physiology, math, reading comprehension, and EMS knowledge, as well as evaluating the affective domains. 17

CELEBRATING 45 YEARS OF
EMS Education AND Innovation
In 1971, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons published the first edition of Emergency
Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured and laid the foundation of EMS training. In 1997,
the AAOS partnered with Jones & Bartlett Learning to release the revised Sixth Edition. Since the publication of that edition, the AAOS and Jones & Bartlett Learning have worked together to
transform all levels of EMS training, from emergency medical responder to paramedic. Today, in
partnership with Jones & Bartlett Learning, the AAOS’s commitment and dedication to excellence has transformed how EMS education is delivered throughout the world and helped develop and train countless world-class EMS providers.
More than 45 years later, this acclaimed resource continues to set the standard in EMS education. Learn how at www.EMT11e.com.
THE GOLD STANDARD IN EMT EDUCATION
After 45 Years, Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured is Still the Gold Standard in EMT Education. What to Expect from the Eleventh Edition of the World’s Most Popular EMT Textbook: Alignment with Current Guidelines and Standards Based on the National EMS Education Standards and the 2015 CPR/ECC Guidelines, the Eleventh Edition offers complete coverage of every competency statement with clarity and precision in a concise format that ensures students’ comprehension and encourages critical thinking. Cognitive and didactic material is presented, along with skills and features, to create a robust and innovative EMT training solution.

Current State-of-the-Art Medical Content The Eleventh Edition aligns with current medical standards and incorporates evidence-based medical concepts to ensure students and instructors have accurate, insightful interpretation of medical science as it applies to prehospital medicine today.
Application to Real-World EMS Students need to know why to perform actions as well as how to perform them. Evolving patient case studies in each chapter give students real-world context to apply the knowledge gained in the chapter, clarifying how the information is used to care for patients in the field, and pushing students to engage in critical thinking and discussion. End-of-chapter case studies and associated questions place additional emphasis on critical thinking.
A Foundation for Life The Eleventh Edition is built on the premise that students need a solid foundation in the basics and then appropriate reinforcement. The Eleventh Edition provides students with a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology. Concepts are briefly reviewed within related subsequent chapters, solidifying the foundational knowledge and offering a context when studying specific emergencies. 21

I haven’t taught one person that didn’t say to some degree or another that they loved the training and “the material. And even how much more they liked the ECSI course above others they had taken part in. The customer service is wonderful. I used to maintain all four of my certifications with other organizations, but from now on I will only be offering ECSI through my personal training center.

FIRE FIGHTER
Understanding the Latest Evidence-Based Research is Fundamentally Important to Keeping Fire Fighters Safe
58
FIRE FIGHTER
Over the last 15 years, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) have conducted controlled fire research scenarios in specially constructed laboratories and in actual houses. As a result, these institutions have been able to demonstrate that many widely embraced firefighting concepts and tactics must be reconsidered and revised in order to operate safely in today’s fire environments. The National Institute of Standards and Technology and Underwriters Laboratories research focused largely on fire behavior and techniques for ventilation, fire suppression, and search and rescue as a result of the changes in modern building construction and furnishing materials. As a result of these changes, today’s fires release energy faster, reach flashover potential sooner, may reach higher temperatures, and are much more likely to become ventilation-limited than building fires of even a few years ago. The all new Enhanced Third Edition of Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills: Evidence-Based Practices is the first and only Fire Fighter I & II textbook to cover this groundbreaking research. Important updates have been incorporated into content related to: • Ventilation and flow paths • Basement fires
• Applying water and coordinating fire attack • Rescue and safety considerations
Together, Jones & Bartlett Learning, the National Fire Protection Association, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs are improving fire fighter safety with the groundbreaking content now found within the Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills: Evidence-Based Practices training system.
