Nancy Caroline’s Emergency Care in the Streets
NINTH EDITION
INCLUDES NAVIGATE ACCESS
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
Hardcover with Navigate Access • 2,400 Pages • © 2023
Nancy Caroline’s Emergency Care in the Streets, Ninth Edition is the newest evolution of the premier paramedic education training program. This legendary paramedic textbook was first developed by Dr. Nancy Caroline in the early 1970s and transformed paramedic education. Today, lead editors Bob Elling and Barb Aehlert, along with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, are proud to continue this legacy and set the new gold standard for the paramedics of tomorrow.
The Ninth Edition offers cutting-edge, evidence-based content that meets or exceeds the most current scientific recommendations developed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and the ECC Guidelines established by the American Heart Association (AHA) and other resuscitation councils around the world. Clear chapter objectives align with the 2019 National EMS Scope of Practice Model and 2021 EMS Education Standards. Thoroughly reviewed by physicians and subject-matter experts, the Ninth Edition teaches students the technical skills required of today’s paramedic while emphasizing other important professional attributes, including critical thinking, empathy, teamwork, communication, problem solving, and personal well-being. Taking a systemic approach to the assessment and management of traumatic and medical emergencies, and devoting entire chapters to special topics, such as mass-casualty incidents, the Ninth Edition covers the full scope of paramedic practice.

First Responder Support & Resilience
Kognito, Public Safety Group
ISBN: 9781284192872 • Online Course • © 2020 go.psglearning.com/resilience
The Public Safety Group, a global leader in EMS and Fire educational materials and services, has partnered with Kognito, a leader in evidence-based health simulations, to bring you First Responder Support & Resilience. This unique learning experience is centered on interactive simulations that enable students and experienced professionals to practice talking with other first responders who are going through challenging times.
In each of the five interactive and simulated role-play conversations, you will:
• Speak with fully animated and emotionallyresponsive virtual peers.
• Learn how to approach checking-in with peers you’re concerned about, demonstrate compassion, help them problem-solve, and if necessary, connect them to additional help.
• Get pointers along the way and reflect on how you might have handled things differently.
These types of conversations are never easy. As with most high-intensity, low-frequency events, training for these difficult situations will develop your readiness for when it really counts.
DID YOU KNOW?
First responders are 5 times more likely to experience PTSD and depression than civilians. In fact, more firefighters and police officers have died from suicide than in the line of duty in recent years, yet little has been done to support this high-risk population.1
