Catherine McAuley Honors Scholars The Catherine McAuley Honors Scholars program (CMHS) recognizes superior academic achievement, offers opportunities for academic and cultural enrichment, encourages further development of skills and talents, and rewards high scoring students for their endeavors. Members and their parents have an additional resource for securing information about colleges, summer studies, scholarship opportunities, scheduling and the most current enrichment programs. CMHS scholars have the opportunity to visit prestigious college campuses to tour and speak with admissions counselors and meet with alumnae to learn about various fields of study and career options.

Mother McAuley integrates a rigorous liberal arts philosophy with a college preparatory curriculum. You actually learn to think beyond the classroom to see “the big picture.” Creative problem solving becomes second nature because it’s part of your everyday learning experience. McAuley expects you to earn more than course credits. RETREATS Retreats are a critical part of the faith formation. During the first three years, the retreats reflect that year’s curriculum. As seniors, the girls are invited to attend a Kairos weekend where they deepen their sense of spirituality and faith.

Empowering young women to explore and develop their own unique talents As part of McAuley’s liberal arts curriculum, students are encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves in our visual and performing arts courses, clubs and activities. Classes range from beginning level to Advanced Placement, allowing students to try something new, with the opportunity to grow and challenge themselves in higher level classes. Our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment provide the perfect environment for girls to gain the confidence to star in our musicals, build sets for our plays, lay out our yearbook, decorate our halls with artwork, step up to the microphone for a solo in our concerts and vie for the “first chair� position in our orchestra or band.

McAuley encourages students to develop community interests and leadership abilities through a wide variety of extracurricular activities and service projects. With a choice of over 37 clubs and organizations, students have the opportunity to explore many different interests, discover new talents and develop their own unique abilities. Empowering young women to be confident competitors You’ve heard of the McAuley Mighty Macs! They’ve set an impressive bar for young women’s athletics for years. Our teams and individual players have received state and national recognition. More than 425 student athletes are involved in interscholastic sports at McAuley. Mother McAuley is a member of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the sanctioning body for interscholastic high school athletic competition in Illinois, and the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC).

The 2016 Varsity Volleyball Team added the 15th State Championship title to McAuley’s outstanding record. The team was unanimously ranked #1 in the nation by all 4 national polls: USA Today, Max Preps, PrepVolleyball, and FloVolleyball.

In recognition of our shared ministry, Mother McAuley does not promise, predict or otherwise allude to specific dollar amounts regarding tuition assistance or financial aid before a student takes the entrance exam. Family Discount A $500 tuition discount is given to the second and subsequent daughters attending McAuley at the same time.

Parents should register their daughter at least three school days prior to a visit by completing the form on our website at mothermcauley.org or by calling the Recruitment Office at 773-881-6567.

Mother McAuley Board of Trustees Scholarship

This scholarship highlights the ministry of Sister Agatha O’Brien, who in the face of extreme hardship, demonstrated leadership, courage, perseverance and service to those in need of education in Chicago. The $2,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to the top 5% of entrance exam testers.

The Board scholar will receive credit equal to one-half of the annual tuition charge. Once awarded, a recipient is eligible for annual renewal provided she maintains a 3.0 GPA and continues to meet original criteria.

Catherine McAuley Service Scholarships

A $500 scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman student with elementary school music experience who desires to continue her music education at McAuley.

Legacy Award McAuley also offers a $500 legacy award for any incoming freshman whose mother graduated from McAuley.

Tradition of Excellence Scholarships

Work Study Opportunity Supplemental Grant: $500 per year

Sr. Ellen Marie Ryan, RSM Music Scholarship

Daniel P. Haerther Scholarship This scholarship is offered to three current freshmen who are strong students, involved in their school and community and have plans to attend a four-year college or university. This renewable scholarship is equal to one-half of the annual tuition charge.

Lombard Family Scholarship Established by the Lombard family, this renewable $1,000 scholarship provides four incoming freshmen with awards based on their excellent academic records and strong potential.

Mary Kean Coffey “Pay it Forward” Scholarship This renewable scholarship recognizes students who are leaders that participate fully in the concept of “paying it forward” by using their gifts and talents to support other students and their community. Four recipients will receive credit equal to one-half of the annual tuition charge.

Incoming freshman students who are daughters, granddaughters, and/or nieces of Mother McAuley High School or St. Xavier Academy alumnae are invited to apply for this $1,000 scholarship.

Hometown Heroes Daughters of members of local police and fire departments are eligible to apply for this $750 scholarship. CTA Many students travel to McAuley using the CTA. Ventra cards are available for $2 and allow the students to get the student rate. Check the CTA website for more information on routes and rates. Metra Shuttle Service The Mother McAuley shuttle bus will pick up students using the Metra in the morning arriving on the #808 train to the Oak Lawn Metra Station at 7:14 am. After school, the bus will drive the students to the station for the #819 train leaving at 3:14 pm. Students are responsible for their own Metra fare. Visit metrarail.com for more information on the train schedules and fees. The fee for the Metra Shuttle Service is $300 for the school year. Mother McAuley, together with Brother Rice, offers a point-to-point bus service from various locations throughout the city and suburbs. Tuition Tuition for the 2017-2018 school year is $11,550. Financial Aid grants are available and are based on the financial need of the family. The online FAST financial aid application will be available on our website beginning in October 2017.

Agatha O’Brien Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is available for incoming first year students who have been recognized for their service and leadership skills.

• Schedule a visit on a day that you do not have school. • Arrive at the Main Office at 7:45am. Students are welcome to spend the entire school day at McAuley. School gets out at 2:50pm every day except Thursday which has a condensed schedule and a 1:38pm dismissal. • Please dress appropriately. Pants or skirts are acceptable but no tank tops, sweats or shorts. • A FREE lunch pass will be provided.
