The Grants Activity Report provides a snapshot of grants active within the college, grants submitted by and those awarded to the college, and the many partners with whom the college collaborated during fiscal year 2013-2014. In particular, the report:

• illustrates the value of the grants portfolio and contains a compilation of active grants over the July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014 fiscal year;

• provides a statistical synopsis of the grant-generating activity spanning the 2013-2014 fiscal year;

• reflects a three-year trend of grants submitted and awarded; and

• recognizes the collaboration with community organizations in pursuing and securing grants during 2013-2014.

Over 45 faculty and staff from 30 departments across campus and 53 community partners collaborated with the Office of Grants Leadership & Development to design, develop and prepare the 47 grant applications that were submitted during the fiscal year. Topics were as varied as the departments represented - including adult education, performing and visual arts, sustainability, veterans services, healthy eating, professional development for librarians and child care professionals, the history of immigration in Kansas, preventing sexual assault and domestic violence, procurement technical assistance, small business development, IT, health information management, automotive technology, service learning, food science and recruiting Latinos.

As we look to the future and the new strategic direction of the college, we look to supporting new project ideas and broad college initiatives that contribute to transforming lives, strengthening our communities and positioning Johnson County Community College as a national leader in education excellence and innovation.

Grants Portfolio, Fiscal Year 2013-2014 The Grants Portfolio reflects the total dollar value of all active grants over the July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014 fiscal year. Of the $6,040,683 in the active grants portfolio, 86 percent ($5,194,835) was from federal funding sources, 6 percent ($374,298) was from state funding, and 8 percent ($471,550) was from private funding sources.

The active grants portfolio represents grant-funded projects that vary in duration from months to several years. Following the data on the active grants portfolio, a compilation of those grants can be found.

Grants Development Activity All grants are required to be processed by the Office of Grants Leadership & Development. Depending on the submission criteria of the funding source, applications are submitted through the college or through the JCCC Foundation, an authorized 501(c) (3). All grants that include receipt of funds by a funding agency must go through a three-pronged grant approval process, which includes appropriate oversight and approval by varying areas within the administration. The prongs include a pre-proposal process, approval process and transmittal process.
